It hadn't stopped raining since they'd left the Hinasa Region and entered New Avalon. The walk wasn't horribly triffling, but the individuals they'd met along the way, including but not limited to paupers, traveling tourists, and churchies from around the country spreading their word of some forsaken God or another... Those poeple certainly abounded in their luck, or perhaps it was that they were blessed by their God after all. Either way, had it not been such a dilema traveling with the curios and deadly vampire, and the task of healing was not so great, Syndy would have feverently laid waste to each and every one of their souls along the beaten path. He hadn't the energy to run from more gaurds though, and outposts were everywhere along this stretch.

Fianlly they'd manage to get themselves past customs and into the city walls, even after the first experience here where he'd killed a city policeman. "The protection they administer must be lax." He sneered. Now, inside the city without a hitch (except for horribly long lines) Sydney and his vampiric escort found themselves in yet another waiting their turn for "traveler's information". Who's idea it had been he forgot long ago. His feet were tired of walking, and his glasses kept falling off the brim of his nose. He'd wonr them as a disguise. He'd always liked glasses, but his eyes were perfect. It was a sort of pet peeve he had for himself to keep them around.

Yume was in a rather awkward mood, the raid had plastered her hair to her face- which was rather annoying. Not only that but now they were once more held up in a line. Now you see it had been a thing for her to develop in the many lines they had been through, something from one experience, that there was always some idiot who had the nerve to try to cop a feel while they were standing around being bored. Was that what lines were for nowadays? She was also in the afterglow of having drained some poor sap of a good portion of blood- hey she was thirsty. It's not like he had use of the blood anyway, he died momentarily afterwards.

So now here she was in the middle of some line for traveler's, which she supposed the two of them were there for something, with her fidgeting about some paranoid idea that there was some freak in the line trying to cop a feel on anyone of the other gender. Of course her partner's constant tampering with the height level of his glasses wasn't helping her all that much either. It was rather a funny sight to behold, a rain soaked vampire as twitchy and nervous as a young girl with stage fright preforming lead in a play.

Given they had time to kill she poked her partner in the side, whispering in a not so quiet voice, "What were we doing here again" Hrmm, there was something that was mildly entertaining, perhaps she should keep poking him. I mean worse comes to worse he attempts to kill her, with his emoness, maybe he'd slit his own wrists and bleed on her till she died? She giggled at her own random thoughts, but then again his blood would most likely taste rather foul. A lot of people were like that nowadays, rather bitter then the sweet coppery taste of blood.

Sydney jumped a little at the unexpected prod and flinched away. Was he ticklish? Probably not... "Don't touch me." He snarled back, but it was quiet enogh not to draw attention to the pair. It didn't help though. They were already getting strange stares because of the woman's crazy dance and show. His glases fogged up completely now, and in a fit he snatched them away and shoved them in on eof his tight jeens pockets. Shortly after he heard a muffled crack. Inwardly he fumed. I'd like to kill someone. That's good Syndey. You've a level head on your shoulders, and these spitefull people fear that. But, for the time being try to concentrate on the objective. What is the objective? The voices were silent in his mind after that. "Bastards..." Again, he muttered it low and discreatly so that only the vampire might here in such a crowd.

"Besides, you look rediculous when you do that. You'll only get us into more trouble with your insatous appetites and bizzare behavior. I can fix that for you though..." He reached his hand up and opened his palm, starring directly into her eyes. After a few moments in that very awkward pose his figners finally delved into her soul, but only a little. He plucked and flicked at the soulstrings, just to get her attention and remind her of his persuasions over personality. "We can fix whatever problem it is you might have..." Of coruse, he did it to get back at her for the poke from before. He knew how much she hated it, and she knew how much he hated being touched.

The instant she felt the wayward hand of her compatriot in crime touch upon her soul Yume's eyes snapped into focus, darkening in color to a deep blood red. Her voice took on a harsh and dangerous edge to it, "Don't do that." she stated, though kept it quiet. However the touch had served its purpose and with her mind off other things she had stopped her nervousness and was pretty calm. In fact if it weren't for the hand Sydney held up between them they'd look pretty normal, well as normal as a emo kid and goth lady could be.

Seeing as how others in the line were looking at her funny now, well more at Sydney then they were her, she decided to cover up quickly. "Now sweetie, just because your on edge doesn't mean I am." Her eyes brightened a little to a more playful color, her tone an almost sickly sweet "Though that doesn't sound like so much a bad idea, after all this line is taking far too long." She made a rather suggestive gesture and a motion to leave the building, though if one looked carefully there was a difference in her eyes that clearly stated she had something else in mind then "fun".

He nodded his understanding of the threat and let the hand fall back to his side. There was no point to provoke her further. "Of course, mother! You're always right..." He cast a side long glance away from her. The sarcasm was just dripping from his words like sour honey. However she'd meant the "sweetie" comment, he'd turned it right back around and made the vampire, who surely was much older than he, into an old woman. Of course, she didn't look a day past twenty, but he likely looked younger than his own age anyway.

His eyes followed her movements, and once again the sadistic passion of this vampire managed to pull at his heart strings. It was in a bad way though... He felt like grimacing at her behavior until he managed to catch the meaning. Sydney wasn't slow by any means, but this woman had a few more tricks up her sleave than he was used to. It was no wonder he was told by the voices to keep her around.

"Wait here, Darling..." He said, winking at her over-obviously as if responding to the sedductive ploy made a moment earlier. "...I'll grab a flyer or two before we go. No use wasting time here." He wanted to vomit because of his own stupidity. Acting... It would have been much easier to just kill the penniless travelers, at least on his own morality and principles.

It was quick work to waltz over to the stand of paper flyers and "accidentally" knock it over, sending noise and clutter all across his end of the large registration hall. "Ooooooh, noooooe! Pardon, please!" All eyes were on him. He managed to get himself caught under the tressel as well. "I don't suppose someone can give me a hand..." He'd let the girl sneak away first, then join her when he sent the rest of them off looking for his missing "Darling".

occ- aww your two charactrs are so cute together... now i'm not sure if you want this... but I'll control the ignorant masses.

The noise was quite distracting. In would be hard for the people to over look it. Of course this was the traveler's guild, the place for people who wished to help people (for rewards) and continue their travels. When they saw this man in need, it was obvious that they should help. At first they hesitated, it's always hard to stick your neck out there and do something 'different'. Then one or two people decided, what the hey, and went over to help pick up the flyers. When people see that others were doing it, it be came easier to do. Most of the people around the flyers when they fell came over to help, while everyone who decided they were too far away either kept their attention on the the clean up crew, led by the oh so nice emo kid, or on their own buisness.

Most of the people who had come over to help were new travelers, but a few in particular stood out.

There was a Knight of the Common Wealth who was on duty.

There was a young magical girl, already transformed into her magic state. She seemed powerful, but like the Common Wealth Knight, she seemed to be there only to help clean up... still... She was a reminder that this place was filled with the strong and the weak, and everything in between.

"Why hello there," The smooth talker talked smoothly to Sydney. "If you don't mind me saying, your 'mother' looks incredibly young. I can see how she could be the mother to such a strong young lad as your self, carrying that large blade around and using necromancer spells so easily, to calm your dear old mother," The man mused as he cleaned up flyers.

The traveler's guild was filled with people who traveled, and had seen alot. It's no wonder someone noticed what Sydney was doing. Kerise had deduced that Sydney, a lonely dark mage had used his soul manipulation on a beutiful woman to make her into his <3 slave. But because he had brought her into public and did not believe people would accept them being together, he came up with the plan to convince everyone she was his mother, of all things. He used that soul manipulation to tell her what specificly to do... Kerise guessed this from the way her mood seemed to snap from one to the other... then to top it all off... he stumbled over the flyers to distract everyone from what just happened.

Kerise was really off... but he knew something was up with these, two. Which was more than most could say.

Taking Sydney's movements as cover Yume left the line, heading back into the crowd of people that piled in to see what had happened. It was a unique skill to depart with hardly one remembering your passing, and it took quite a time to develop, though with the utmost care Yume left seemingly without a trace. If questioned those around her would remember the dark haired girl but actually remembering her passing would be something difficult let alone where she was going.

After digging herself out of the crowd of blundering food, she made her way outside and stood off to the side of the building for Sydney to make his own exit. As much as she felt the need to stay and watch, the boy was rather amusing, she was sure he could handle himself enough to stay out of too much trouble.

Sydney nodded to the easy talking man wearing his long trench coat. His outward appearance remained that of a clumsily troubled but glad-to-be-helped individual who'd just knocked over a pile of flyers. Inside though, the voices were smothering him, threatening to drown out his own thoughts even though it was especially now he had to remain in control. Look out! They shouted. Stop, no... Don't let him touch you. Kill him! What? Now, stretch yourself like a band. I don't understand Kill them, spare not a one! They'll eat me alive. You must! I CAN'T! Now that you have the anger, do it!

"Rrragh!" The outburst was just a bit above the normal speaking level. Sydney stood up and shoved both hands into his pockets to protect his money. Who knew what sort of strangers this place held, and how much of each of these people deserved to be slaughtered for crimes against humanity. Likely none of them wanted to help, but were in it for their own gain at his loss. He calmed himself and cast a long stare at the trench coat man. "I'm sorry about that." His voice was laced with honey, but his moral mind was on fire. He almost choked, but swallowed instead.

"Thank you all ever so much for helping me. But actually sir, she's not my mother. That young lady happens to be my sister." He tampered even further with whatever evidence this person thought he had. "I fear though, that I've ripped my pants..." He pointed to a rather old hole in the knee of his jeans. "I'll have to find myself a change back in town. I'd love to stay and take up the horrible mess I've made, but if you'll all excuse me..." He did stay to pick up a handful of flyers and jammed them back into the stand they'd been in.

Regardless of what the man said, his actions were too incriminating to to let slide. The smooth talker decided on his next plan of action. As for now he let the man leave the building, letting him get away, or so it seemed.

Sydney had long since excused himself and gone outside. No one had followed him just yet, but that trenchcoat man had given him a strange look. Maybe he had felt it... Either way, the situation made him uncomfortable. He didn't trust those people. At least the witch and the knight kept to themselves. No one else had stood out quite so much as the friendly trenchcoater. Eventually he caught up with his vampiric companion outside. The crowds were everywhere. He stopped leaving a foot or so between them before speaking. Then again, with so many people and so much commotion outside at midday, there wasn't really any reason to worry about eavesdroppers.

"We should have just killed them all. We can't get anything done with those people in the way." He sulked and lowered his head, letting the dark red hair hang down over his face. Had his eyes been visible they would have been seen as seething with something close to hatred or resentment. "I say we just take what we need. We'd have it for free anyway, and without the lines... Besides, I'm sure you're tired of the groping by this point. Don't think I haven't seen... Each and every one of them. If you didn't get them, I did... Like this..." He held up his hand like he was going to tweek her soul again, but didn't dare touch it for a second time today.

Yume cocked an eyebrow, she didn't think he had noticed the extra "special" care she had gotten in the lines. Perhaps the kid was a bit more perceptive then she thought. Though his methods usually drew far more attention then was really necessary. "Well supposing you didn't draw too much attention getting out of there we might as well go in the back door. There's bound to be some gear we can help ourselves to." Glancing about she disappeared down one of the alley ways, working her way through the maze of back streets to the rear of the traveler's guild. Lines were too boring, and seeing as how they normally passed on some gear to traveler's they might as well liberate some to their own uses. She grinned rather toothily as they came tot eh back door, her eyes burned a shining red of playfulness and blood lust. "After you kind sir." No mockery or anything that time in her voice.

"The more the better. If we can't use it we'll sell it..." He snarled, thinking of all the people. "And then we'll kill them and take the things back to sell all over again." Sydney chased after the woman as she made her way to the alley behind the building. Apparently he was too into his own ideas of human murder to notice she'd tottered off. Light on his feet, the boy finally caught up. He hoped no one was watching as they made their way to the back entrance. Settling in he put his back to the wall and pretended to rest seeming all too disinterested in the door itself. "If they are following they'll see us screwing with the door and know right away."

He was being too cautious. Paranoia struck him hard this time. It must have been that man who'd helped him inside... He must have known quite a bit about the workings of the soul to understand what he did in respect to Sydney's hand gesture. The situation put him on edge. Besides, he was a killer, not a thief. Then again, one thing led to another, and the vampire woman couldn't have been a good influence. The decision to go all out and conform to a criminal persona hadn't been made yet mentally, but slowly it was becoming who he was. It'll be easier for you in the end that way. What? Never mind, Sydney. Keep going.

The back door was left unlocked. Aparantly the lock it's self is broken. Inside there is a small exit hallway that leads to a small storage room. beyond that can be seen the busy room with lots of people. The exit hallway and storage room are both poorly lit and filled with various boxes and bags of sorts. Most of the things on the boxes and in side them look like paperwork and discarded recipts and other offical documents. Occasionally here and there are deffective items.

Most of the useful equipment is kept near the front desks where they are distributed to the various travelers. A woman in the distance walked away from the counter she was working behind and made her way to the storage room. She brought a candle with her from her counter to light the darkened room. She was also pushing a small cart. She made her way to the left of the storage room, where some still useful equipment was kept. She put some of the equipment into the cart and then pushed it back to the counters. If someone where to peek in through the back door they might have seen this.

Yume popped the door open, a moment before she was about to just rip the door open, apparently it had been left unlocked. The door creaked something fierce but didn't seem to draw any attention. She managed to open it just enough for the duo in crime to make it through and poked her head through. Though it had taken some time to figure out the door was either broken or the guild didn't care much bout security, she did catch an eye full of one of the workers departing a room with a cart. Said cart had items in it that looked to be semi useful.

"Looks like we're in luck, they left the door open wide for us." She slipped in and moved slowly, trying not to make alot of noise. Her eyes shifted colors dancing in and out of red and purple, her emotions mixed and shifting. Once she reached the door where the woman had exited she stopped and looked back to see if the boy had been following. "Come on, here's where we'll probably find our stuff."

"You would be one to... Damnit. Reckless..." His mutterings were too little and too late. He found himself following the woman unconciously like a little lost puppy. Was it fear of being alone? Or, was it something more practical like fear of beign discovered? He vouched for the latter. After all, he liked to be alone. No one could hurt him then. But if hurting was his problem, then why was he following this person into a potentially dangerous situation? Physical pain wasn't an object, that's why, and she hadn't hurt him emotionaly yet. Maybe they did make an effective, if sickening team.

"You're going to get us killed. You may have vampiric strength, but I'll have to survive on my own dark arts if we're found out. Ah!" He was whispering, but managed to stumble over the corner of a box. His yelp was almost inaudible, so all was well he hoped. "Besides, what if they come back here looking for us? Maybe I should..." He let her rummage through the boxes a bit while he began to concentrate. Maybe then he could rip off a souls string easier that way if the need arose.

"What do you see? Anything usefull?" Still his voice was only a hair's breadth away from silence, but he figured her vampiric ears could pick it up. If not, they were standing pretty close anyway. He only prayed that these freeks didn't find out they were back here, otherwise they might be screwed completely.
