Childhoodstories I, Scarlet, Violet and Sterling

[NPC]

"Always remember what I told you, boy! You are to guard the young ladies. You'll do everything you're told to do and you won't do anything without being told." Sir Darphin talked while walking straight down the corridor followed by a boy of about 10 years who was wearing the dark green uniform of the castle guards. The boy seemed to have a hard time trying to keep up with the tall man who's steps were twice as long as his own. Suddenly Sir Darphin stopped and turned to him. "You got that, Sterling-kun?" The boy stopped in an instant and nodded.
Sir Darphin sighed. At this point he actually would have told Sterling only to speak when he is asked but there was no use in that since the kiddo said hardly anything in general.
In fact Sir Darphin found it was not a good idea to make Sterling-kun the Lord Selis' daughter's guard. The boy was everything but good in dealing with other people. But Lord Selis insisted for what reason ever. And maybe with the boy being in the castle all day some peace would come into the barracks. (The soldiers had something against Sterling.)

Sir Darphin pushed the heavy oak door to the dinning hall open.
"Mylord? I brought the boy."
"Excellent, Darphin." Selis replied.
Lady Rose looked up from her dinner. "Oh! Now who do we have there?"
"Sterling-kun will be Scarlet's and Violet's personal guard starting from today."
"Seriously?" Lady Rose asked in surprise but seemed pleased. "Isn't that lovely, girls?" she asked turning to her daughters.
"Of course Sterling-kun has to keep up his training plan so I'll have to borrow him once in a few days but the rest of the time he'll stay here." Sir Darphin remarked.
"Naturally. Would you come with me for a word, good Darphin? I'd like to discuss something else with you. Excuse me, ladies. I'll be right back." Selis said. He got up and went into another room. Sir Darphin followed leaving the boy standing alone in the big hall.

Scarlet felt a chill when the door of the dinning hall opened. Not because it was cold but rather because something "unnatural", something "special", happened. She felt it though she couldn't explain why this event was so special.
Then two people entered the room. One of them was Sir Darphin and the other one a boy Scarlet had never seen before. The overall beneath his armor was green so he was obviously a guard. Scarlet kept staring at this boy who remained standing in the shadows while Sir Darphin stept into the light.
The adults talked. 'Personal guard'? This boy? He seemed older than Scarlet and her sister but not much. "Uhm, yes mother." Scarlet answered shyly on her mothers question.

The boy, Sterling was his name?, was kind of creepy. There was a cold, negative air around him that made Scarlet feel uneasy. However, she got up from her chair and went to greet him. She had never known anybody close to her age other than her sister. So she dropped a curtsy and offered him her hand. "Nice to meet you, Sterling-san." she said smiling.

(Isn't that cute? Even though Sterling is Scarlet's servant she wants to shake hands with him.)

Violet stared Scarlet and the boy called Sterling. Scarlet was really nice so that she wanted to be polite with him... However, Violet wasn't as nice as Scarlet. That boy is nobody! She didn't sure whether That Sterling boy was capable to guard them or not. Violet smiled to Sterling - a smile that Sterling would learn later or sooner that it's not as nice at it seemed. well, at least he could become a good servant. Violet thought.

[Reika]

Sterling was surprised by Scarlet's gesture. He stared at her and then at her hand that was reached out to him. He didn't dare take it. Instead he just gave a slight bow.
He then noticed the other twin. She had a smile on her face. Once that made Sterling seem to feel a bit uneasy. Something about that smile was as nice as it all seemed.
Nevertheless it was his job to take care of these two princess. He didn't really understood why someone like him was given the job in the first place. Personal guard of the princess? Keeping watch over the princess? It was a job that he knew didn't suit someone as him as much. Well, he better do a good job with this one...somehow...

Violet watched Sterling made a bow. This boy was kinda... polite? Anyway, he's a bit cute. Probably she could have some 'good time' with him...

[Neo]

"Ha? Such a polite young man! You girls be good to him, you hear? Don't tease him too much." Lady Rose said. "Scarlet, dear, come and sit down again. Your meal will get cold."

Scarlet pulled her hand back to herself. She smiled half disappointed, half embarrased and did as her mother told her.
They continued their dinner and Scarlet couldn't help glancing at Sterling every now and then.

At dinner Sterlingcouldn't help but notice Scarlet taking glances at him every once in awhile. He frown. Was he really that strange? He took a glance at her and it just so happened to be at the same time as she took a glace at him. Their eyes met for a second before Sterling quickly turned the other way. He felt a tiny blush move across his face, but quickly regain his composure.

Violet noticed that Scarlet and Sterling were glancing each other again and again. They were so odd.. She turned to Selis. Father. I wanna ask you something.

[Neo]

Selis turned to his younger daughter. "Yes, Violet, my dear?"

Scarlet did not follow the conversation between her father and her sister. She pouted. Did she do something wrong? Obviously the boy didn't like her; and she was not used to be disliked. Slightly frustrated she poked into her meal and pushed the pieces around the plate.

"Oh, Scarlet! Stop playing with your food!" Lady Rose said angrily.

"I'm sorry, mother." Scarlet replied.

"Sterling will be our bodyguard right?" Violet shown her childish smile, "So what exactly he will do? Play with us??"

[NPC]

"Right, dear. And it's up to you what you do with him. Play if you want to. See..." Selis put down his spoon. "... your daddy and most of the guards will go away for a while-"
"WHAT?" Lady Rose interrupted. "You tell me you're going to wage a war again!?"
"Plainly said: Yes. Expect for a hand full of soldiers I will take all men I have with me. This is why I need somebody to watch Scarlet and Violet all the time. You, too, will get a personal guard. Don't worry."
"What shall I worry about other than about whether I'll see you in one piece again?"
"Just in case-"
"WHAT case?"
"Please calm down, my love. Girls, would you leave your mommy and daddy alone? We have to discuss a thing or two."

(Sounds like Sterling is rather some sort of toy or pet than a guard, doesn't it? Just don't forget to feed him, girls. lol)

Violet nodded. She stood up and took Scarlet hand. "Come on, Scarlet, why do you still sit here?" Then she looked at Sterling and smiled, "You too.."

(At least Scarlet won't forget to feed him. While Violet.... XD)

Scarlet looked at her sister (or rather through her) and let her drag her away. She hadn't quite got what the fuss was about. But their mother seemed rather upset.
The girls went to their room and Sterling followed them with a little distance. Would he stick to the two of them like this for all the time from now on? That was in a way creepy...

The twins and the guard arrived at the princess' room. Violet looked at Sterling. "So... Why don't you tell us more about yourself?"

[Reika]

Sterling reluctantly followed the two girls. It was his duty to watch them whether he wanted to or not. The threesomes arrived at the princess' room.

"So... Why don't you tell us more about yourself?"

The question caught Sterling off guard.He stared at the girl who asked the question. He bit his lower lip until he felt a faint taste of blood touched his tounge. This girl was being nosey; nosey about a part of him that he hate to tell about. Already disliking the girl and already annoyed on his first day of duty, Sterling left the room, shut the door and just stood there leaning against the door to the bedroom.
