Title: Proofreaders
Description: [CLOSED]

Chococatchip - October 17, 2009 02:45 AM (GMT)
Proofreaders::
- You basically find anything the translator missed, make sure that everything makes sense, and correct any mistakes.
- No experience required. We can always help you.

- You must have great English language skills such as grammar, spelling, and punctuations.
- You MUST find missing text and highlight it.
- You MUST complete proofreading one chapter within 2-3days

As for the test, it will challenge you on your grammar as well as the skill to understand the situation and making the sentence flow without losing most of its meaning.

Proofreader Test
Please email your test answers to loyalkiss@ymail.com

Okay I'm re-opening the PR tests because we are sort of low on proofreaders.

Good luck!!

The new standards:

Proofreaders::

- You basically find anything the translator missed, make sure that everything makes sense, and correct any mistakes.
- No experience required. We can always help you.
- You must have great English language skills such as grammar, spelling, and punctuations.
- You MUST find missing text and highlight it.

*Find missing translations
*Correct grammar and punctuation mistakes
*Make the sentence flow if it seems too awkward (and doesn't seem to make sense)
*Keep the unique characters names consistent throughout the series
*Must download the raws to check each line bubble by bubble!!
*If there is a missing SFX in the trans that is in the raws write it down in red where it's meant to go. (eg. SFX: MISSING)

*missing translations: PM the translators directly!! Don't wait for them to come to you. Use paint or some other image editing program to edit the raw page and circle the missing translation in red. Upload it to tinypic or something and send that to the translator

Sometimes, the translator could put their translations on an image. It is your job to re-type their translations onto a .txt (notepad) or .doc (Word) file to give to the typesetter to copy and poste.

[Deadline] max a chapter a week

The test will differ for each person. The sentences will be directly translated so it will be out of order, and you will have to make that sentence flow.

Please pm your test to Angie or Chococatchip

YourAcrossWatersEnemy, your use of "for" as a conjunction is appallingly incorrect if English is indeed your first language. Sorry, I couldn't help myself :cry:

I would love to be able to offer my assistance as a proofreader to Loyal Kiss. I'm currently a university student majoring in English Literature, and, as such, my English is impeccable. My schedule is relatively open, so I'll be available to proofread as much as the group needs me to. As a grammar Nazi, I'm quite proficient at catching any mistakes. Also, as I've read various different translated works, picking up on the underlying meaning of a passage is second nature to me.

blacksunray - June 26, 2010 07:57 AM (GMT)
Hi, I'm blacksunray.
I would like to apply for being a PR. I don't have any prior experience with being a proofreader in a scanlation group, but my first language is English. I promise to try my best. ^^

Your use of "with" in your post is redundant. Rather, it should read "I don't have any prior experience being a proofreader..."

Every day is a struggle between me and my inner grammar Nazi... Maybe I'll just become a proofreader for this thread :UGH:
