Title: The Last Airbender

Summary from Wiki: The Last Airbender is a 2010 American epic adventure fantasy film released to North America on July 1, 2010. It is a live-action film adaptation based on the first season of the animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender. The film stars Noah Ringer as Aang, a reluctant hero who prefers adventure over his job as the Avatar. Aang and his friends, Katara and Sokka, journey to the North Pole to find a Waterbending master to teach Aang and Katara the secrets of the craft. At the same time, Fire Lord Ozai, the current Fire Lord of the Fire Nation, is waging a seemingly endless war against the Earth Kingdom, the Water Tribes, and the already vanquished Air Nomads. The film also stars Nicola Peltz, Jackson Rathbone, and Dev Patel.
I absolutely love the series Avatar. It was so good!!!...But as for the movie I watched a few days ago...let me put it this way. I wouldn’t waste my money on actually buying it. I personally felt it was a real let down. :sweatdrop: The actors said their lines but didn’t show any feeling….Basically I’m going to start my ranting now…
Aang in the movie was a total downer. In the series the character Aang was usually happy and full hope :angelsing: , but in the movie the actor wasn’t able to show that childlike side of Aang. Also in the movie they had it where Aang had problems learning water bending. In the series he was actually very good at it right from the start. Anyone who actually watched the series would know that it was earth bending he had trouble with at first. :AHH:
Dev Patel (as Prince Zuko) was not the guy for the job. He wasn’t angry enough!!! :Hit: The Zuko I saw in the first book of the series was one pissed off dude and it was only in the second book that he started changing. Also the hair!!!
Katara in the movie was not the Katara in the series. What I mean by that is that Nicola Peltz did a pretty bad job portraying Katara’s personality. Example, at the end of the movie Katara bowed down to Aang. :///: I know that Katara would never do that. How do I know? Because in the second or third season of the series there’s an episode where Katara was annoyed at how Aang was acting because the whole Avatar thing was kind of getting to his head.
Jackson Rathbone played Sokka in the movie and very bad job at it. Sokka in the movie was WAY to serious and not funny enough.
The last thing I’m going to rant on is Iroh and the only thing I’m going ask is…where heck did the funny, fat, and tea loving uncle go?!
Oh but I guess I should say at least one good thing about this movie, right? I think Seychelle Gadriel did a wonderful job with her role as princess Yue :perfect: ( the princess of the Northern Water tribe). I hated the character Yue in the series and I hated her in movie.
So those are my thoughts on the movie The Last Airbender…but like I said before I am a HUGE fan of the series. :throb:

If you wanted to watch it, you probably should. :goodjob: It’s just the movie wasn’t really my taste…but that might be because I watched the series and found it to be amazing awesome. :perfect: But the movie was just an attempt to…I guess an attempt to summarize the first book…*cough* a pretty bad attempt in my book*cough cough* …but everyone has slightly different taste, so you might like it. ^_^

I'm one of the rare Avatar fans that actually enjoyed the movie. (even non-Avatar fans, hated the movie too).
I agree with everything you said, but Sokka wasn't suppose to be funny all the time. This wasn't a children's cartoon any longer, it's an adaption for anyone to enjoy.
I'm glad you didn't point out how they pronounced Aang's name. It was pronounced correctly, unlike the American pronunciation. (like how Sakura's (from Cardcaptor Sakura) name was pronounced in the American dub). I don't know how many times I got mad at people saying "They pronounced it all wrong!" all over the Internet.
Hopefully, the next two movies will be just as good (or better for you and other Avatar fans that hated this one). But as I see it, this might be the only and last one.

Well, I wouldn’t say I hated it…I was just really disappointed. :smart: I understand that the movie was suppose to be different from the cartoon. What I was trying to get across from the rant was that they really changed the personalities of the characters. When you change the personality of a character that’s changing who the character really is. And so I didn’t like the changes they did to the characters. Plus it was painfully obvious the actor were acting. They never really were able to draw me or the rest of the people who were with me into the movie. So after thirty minutes it got boring  …ended up thinking abut the movie A Team that was playing next door. :sweatdrop:
Actually I hope they make another, but next time make a good movie... Though, I agree that this is probably going to be the last one. After all the movie got a lot of bad reviews…most of them I agreed with.

I don't think they really chose the right people for the characters (but it's probably just me wanting them to look almost the same as their cartoon counterparts). Katara and Sokka were pale skinned which doesn't make sense because they should be tanned since they live in the Arctic where the sun shines for like half a year and stuff.
I felt they rushed the movie and for me, it just didn't flow that well. It wasn't as hilarious as the cartoon and yeah as ~sapphire~ said, the characters personalities seemed changed.
I didn't really like how they did the bending either, in the cartoon the element usually follows the hand movements but in the movie it's mostly after the hand movements that the element moves. I also found the air bending techniques really lame... (once again it IS just my opinion).
Maybe if they make another one they'll do better and listen/read the reviews they are getting from the fans and adapt the movie so that more fans are satisfied.
