For crying out loud. Personal Opinion Vs. Personal Opinion. Going out and imposing your beliefs on others by insulting what they like is not a good place to start. Ridiculous..I am a religious person, but I don't go out and tell people they are bad.

Thats why we can talk behind their backs.   ;)

Yeah, Opinion V.S. Opinion never turns out well.

I'm atheist but I don't go and say all Christians or any one who believes in a god is a total twat. I don't think that but you get my point, I keep my opinion on these matters to myself. The constitution says you can believe in any religion you want. I just choose to not have one.

I'd have said the same as you a while back, just to go along to be honest and try and play fair so to speak, but its always bothered me, and then Richard Dawkins came along and explained why, here's a short interview with him ...

Richard Dawkins' asserts that belief in god is irrational and inflicts great harm upon societies. Jeremy Paxman interviews Professor Dawkins as part of the Newsnight book club.

This ones much more in depth, you really want to listen to what he's got to say about morality in the Bible, plus the Q&A is excellent, see the description ...

Richard Dawkins reads excerpts from "The God Delusion" and anwsers questions at Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg, Virginia on October 23, 2006. This Q&A features many questions from Jerry Falwell's Liberty "University" students. In Richard's tour journal he says:

"Many of the questioners announced themselves as either students or faculty from Liberty, rather than from Randolph Macon which was my host institution. One by one they tried to trip me up, and one by one their failure to do so was applauded by the audience. Finally, I said that my advice to all Liberty students was to resign immediately and apply to a proper university instead. That received thunderous applause, so that I almost began to feel slightly sorry for the Liberty people. Only almost and only slightly, however."

In a nutshell, there are strong rational reasons with implications for the survival of the species that people who cling to irrational religious beliefs should be treated like the idiots they are, and certainly kept well away from positions of power and influence, just as you would with someone who openly declared a belief in fairies at the bottom of the garden. Not that he puts it quite that way. But they are the ultimate tin-foil hat brigade - they just never get called on it.

This has direct and serious implications, lack of rational criticism and to be honest a healthy dose of public ridicule - twilight zone music when the Pope comes on, that kind of thing - justified out of respect for religious moderates, provides a shield that religious extremists hide behind and flourish - and thats how we ended up with this bunch of crazies ...

And personally for me, one of the final straws was the realisation that christianity is effectively nothing more than a death cult - they actually conned us into worshipping death. You can see where that's come in handy over the years.

And btw, for those of you who've seen Apocalypto, if you consider what happened on 911, you might find it depressing to consider that not only are we primarily a death cult, but it turns out we also still practice a form of human sacrifice as and when required. Think about it.

My great Grandfather was a write. He has a book called 'Creative Religion' in which he talks how religions of today do not fit with society.

Here are a few quotes:

"Religion is the same kind of integrator but on a wider stage, for its role is to interpret all of life and thus make it worth living"

This is the best one:
"Religion is a curse when it divides men and causes them to fight and destroy each other in its name. But if we emphasize truth, universality, tolerance, love, and freedom, this need not be"

Which is so damn true. Look at the Sunni/Shiite conflict.

Ironically he was a priest and worked in some government office when either Reagan or JFK died. He did exactly one week after I was born.

If you really think the Great Spirit cares about whether you rub one out or not, you're a little too inwardly focused. Go help someone in need, somehow. You'll feel better. :)

Interesting how you also address the "higher power" as the Great Spirit. I do as well. I hope you learn to truly LISTEN to the Great Spirit above and realize that negativity toward other people works against the goals and teachings of the Creator.

Be well Seeker.

As far as porn is concerned, I don't think the Creator really cares much about it as long as all involved are consenting and no one is made to be "superior" over another.
