Title: Are Religions Based On Death Cults?
Description: Yes, No, or free response.

Just wondering what everyone thinks.

Are we including Bhuddism (millions of adherents worldwide), Hindu, Shinto, and the multitudinous "other", i.e.; Wicca, Pantheism, The Mennonites/Amish, Mormons, and the Sikhs? :)

If they have some living god who dies and is resurrected as something else for an afterlife, I would say that defines a religious death cult.
Garbonzo - May 1, 2007 01:59 PM (GMT)
I think its pointless
Not like anyone knows wtf is out there...we r just lil humans being herded to who nos where
Barcoded - May 1, 2007 06:59 PM (GMT)
Exactly. You can believe whatever you want to believe about whats out there but I personally believe that there is a God.
Dont - May 3, 2007 04:23 PM (GMT)
Most religions are based on how you live your life. Many teach that to get to heaven when you die you must live a good life. Some teach that you must kill others to get to heaven. Some are silent about death. If you mean if you believe in the after life as a "death cult", that is a strange way to refer to a mainstream religion : no. If your referring to the ones that need to kill infidels to get to heaven : yes.

Being a chronic pessimist, I'm inclined to say that religion is born out of fear and a subsequent natural human desire to control/predict/know, all in an effort to create some sort of "safety" in a harsh, confusing world. Beyond that, I'm not so sure...so the death cult stuff is just another facet of it, it just happens to be at the other end of the spectrum.
My 2 cents :P

There's the famous line "Greed is good". Fear is good too, see this PBS documentary on How Art Made the World
. In the same documentary, or another one, parallels were made with the symbolism in ancient religions to newer ones. However this covers how the Aztec's used fear to control the populace.
So what is the connection to 11 Sept? Oh, never mind..
phoenixrises - May 5, 2007 11:47 PM (GMT)
Supposedly Mormonism is closely affiliated with the global elite, so if that's the case, no doubt this particular "religion" is a "death cult".
alive and still talking - May 6, 2007 01:47 AM (GMT)
NO, THEY'RE BASED ON DRAGONS "BELIEF IN DRAGONS"
ALL RELIGIONS HAVE ONLY ONE COMMON DENOMINATOR -- DRAGONS
THEIR PRESENCE IS IN EVERY CULTURAL RELIGIOUS BASE
SOME FEAR THEM = SOME RESPECT THEM = SOME WORSHIP THEM
SOME OF THE WORLD'S RELIGIONS THINK THE DRAGON IS RESPONSIBLE
FOR THE ENTIRE HUMAN RACE....ALL DRAGONS ARE PART OF RELIGION
GO TO ANY ART- BASED RELIGIOUS RECORD, AND YOU WILL FIND A " DRAGON "
A DRAGON-LIKE FETUS WAS RECENTLY FOUND IN LONDON PICKLED IN A JAR
HEADLINED IN THE LONDON MEDIA, THUS REOPENS HISTORY OF DRAGON LORE
yO phoenixrises>U need to do your research before making uneducated remarks. Why attack mormonism ? They are just do-gooder pilgrim types. Try living with them for a weekend....you would swear you were in the movie "PLEASANTVILLE and walk away reeking of american apple pie
IF ALL THE RELIGIONS OF THE WORLD COULD LEARN HOW TO BE NICE TO THEIR
" DRAGONS "AND SHARE THEM, THERE WOULD BE PEACE FOR ALL MANKIND....

Yo Alive and still talking...I said "supposedly". Meaning...it's been stated by others.
As for your reasoning about dragons...if you're not being sarcastic, then I think you're abso-fucking-lutely insane.
Would anyone in their right mind think that dragons are BENEVOLENT to ALL people, including the underclass? I think not...unless its fire-breathing lungs were replaced with rose-smelling incense breathing lungs...

FROM ONE SARCASTIC INDIVIDUAL TO ANOTHER YOUR PERSONAL OPINION OF ME IS A GOOD LAUGH, ONLY SUGGESTING THAT THE SAME MINDSET WHICH GAVE BIRTH TO DRAGONLORE, GAVE BIRTH TO RELIGION, THEY ARE ONE IN THE SAME, EVIDENCE THAT DRAGONLORE AND RELIGION HAVE SAME ROOTS.
DUE TO RAPID EXTICTION OF MANY SPECIES FROM OVERHUNTING, WE HAVE
FEW LIVING EXAMPLES OF WHAT WERE CONSIDERED DRAGONS OF THEIR TIME. LARGE WATER LIZARDS "CROCKS" WERE NO DOUBT PREVALENT IN THEIR DAY AMONG OTHER LARGE LAND LIZARDS OF THE TIME. THEY HAD TO EXPLAIN AWAY ANY UNCOVERED DINOSAUR BONES,
JUST AS THEY HAD TO EXPLAIN AWAY MISSING PERSONS BY PREDATORS, AND THE REASON WHY POLITICAL FOES MET A SIMILAR FATE WITHOUT LOOSING CONTROL OF THE MASSES, SO THEY BLAME IT ON THE DRAGON " GOD ".
IN MANY CULTURES IT ONLY MADE SENSE TO WORSHIP WHAT YOU FEAR AND REASON THAT THIS CREATURE IS THERE TO PROTECT YOU, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE ENEMY IS DEFEATED OR CHASED AWAY BY THAT SAME CREATURE.
FOUL WEATHER, EARTHQUAKES ARE OTHER EVENTS EXPLAINED AWAY BY DRAGONS. ANYONE WHO COULD SLAY A BIG LIZARD WAS SUDDENLY ELEVATED
IN PROMINENCE, EVEN SAINTED. ANYONE WHO COULD SUBDUE A BIG LIZARD
OR MAKE A PET OUT OF ONE, WAS SAID TO HAVE GREAT POWERS........
FAMOUS ALLIGATOR WRESTLERS OF OUR DAY WOULD HAVE BEEN WORSHIPED IN ANCIENT TIMES AS FEARLESS LEADERS AND EVEN DIETY
POLITICAL LEADERS HAD TO HAVE AN EXPLANATION WHY THEY SHOULD BE
WORSHIPED AS IMMORTAL, AS DESCENDANTS OF DIETY TO STAY IN POWER
KINGS AND QUEENS, OTHER WORLD LEADERS STILL CLING TO THIS PREMISE
TO STAY IN POWER.
CLEOPATRA CLAIMED TO BE THE DAUGHTER OF ISIS, TO THIS DAY, JAPANESE PEOPLE BELIEVE THEIR EMPEROR'S ANCESTRY GOES BACK TO THE DRAGON RYU, WHICH HAD THE POWER TO APPEAR IN HUMAN FORM
ROYALS MAINTAIN THEY ARE SEPARATE FROM THE MASSES BY CLAIMING LINEAGE THAT HAS A HOLIER- THAN -THOU ORIGIN, SANCTIFIED BY THE CATHOLIC CHURCH.
PATHETIC BUSH HAS COMPARED HIMSELF TO GEORGE WASHINGTON AND ABRAHAM LINCOLN. WHAT'S SCAREY IS THAT HE ACTUALLY BELIEVES IT
HIMSELF. GEN. PATTON AND GEN. SANTA ANA BELIEVED THEY WERE REINCARNATED OF NAPOLEON. HITLER HAD A STRANGLE-HOLD ON THE MASSES, COMPARED
HIMSELF TO GOD, AND HE WAS INSANE....
LIKE JOHN LENNON SAID, " IMAGINE NO RELIGION" AND THEIR STRANGLE-HOLD ON THE MASSES VANISHES WITH THE WIND....
RELIGIOUS AL QAEDA LEADERS WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO LAUNCH ATTACKS ON
THIS COUNTRY IF NOT FOR CONTROL OF THE MASSES, USING AUTHORITY BY
VIRTUE OF RELIGION
BUSHDADDY AND BUSH-JR WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO RAIN DEATH AND DESTRUCTION ON CITIES ABROAD WITHOUT SUPPORT OF FOLLOWERS LIKE
THE MILITARY AND RELIGIOUS SUPER-CONSERVATIVE. IF NOT FOR MEDIA
BLACKOUT, THE SUPER-CONSERVATIVE VOTERS WOULD SEE THE CARNAGE AND RISE UP TO PUT A STOP TO IT, LIKE WE DID IN VIETNAM
WHEN BRITIANS CRY OUT "GOD SAVE THE QUEEN" THEY REALLY MEAN IT. THEY
ARE CONVINCED THAT HER ROLE IN GOVERNMENT IS ENDOWED BY A HIGHER
POWER. NO DOUBT THE QUEEN THINKS SHE HAS THE SAME EFFECT ON US, WHICH IS WHY SHE IS HERE, TO SUPPORT BUSH WITH HER ROYALNESS, ATTEMPING TO LEND HIM CREDIBILITY AS A LEADER WITH HER PRESENCE
TRIED TO LOOK UP MIDDLE EAST DRAGONS, LEBANESE DRAGONS FOR GOOD
PICTORAL REPRESENTATION OF FOLKLORE AND FOUND INSTEAD, MILITARY
DOD FEATURING THE "DRAGON HELICOPTER" AND ITS EFFECTIVENESS IN THE
MIDDLE EAST. I GUESS THAT MAKES US THE DRAGON NOW
THERE HAVE BEEN WARS IN THE MIDDLE EAST SINCE THE BEGINNING OF MAN
BETTER TO LET THEM FIGHT AMONG THEMSELVES THAN MAKE ENEMIES OF THEM
BY INTERFERRING WHERE WE DO NOT BELONG. ONE THING TO PUT OUT OIL WELL
FIRES, ANOTHER TO BOMB CITIES LOOKING FOR A SMALL TERRORIST CELL
TRYING TO SUGGEST HERE THAT WE ARE ACTING LIKE THE SAME FRIGHTENED PRIMITIVE CULTURE, BY ALLOWING BUSH'S RULE OVER US TO CONTINUE, KNOWING HE IS AN IDIOT....TIME TO IMPEACH, BEFORE WORLD WAR III
THROWS US BACK TO THE MIDDLE AGES

THE OTHER COMMON DENOMINATOR : MARTYRED SOLDIERS & POLITICIANS
MANY RELIGIOUS MARTYRS HAD A HUGE FOLLOWING, TODAY THIS FOLLOWING
IS CALLED " THE WAR EFFORT "
SAINT JOAN D'ARC
USED TO SELL WAR BONDS
One of five children born to Jacques d'Arc and Isabelle Romee. Shepherdess. Mystic. From age 13 she received visions from Saint Margaret of Antioch, Saint Catherine of Alexandria, and Michael the Archangel.
In the early 15th century, England, in alliance with Burgundy, controlled most of what is modern France. In May 1428 Joan's visions told her to find the true king of France and help him reclaim his throne. She resisted for more than three years, but finally went to Charles VII in Chinon and told him of her visions. Carrying a banner that read "Jesus, Mary", she led troops from one battle to another. She was severely wounded, but her victories from 23 February 1429 to 23 May 1430 brought Charles VII to the throne. Captured by the Burgundians during the defence of Compiegne, she was sold to the English for 10 thousand francs. She was put on trial by an ecclesiastical court conducted by Cauchon, Bishop of Beauvais, a supporter of England, and was excuted as a heretic. In 1456 her case was re-tried, and Joan was acquitted (23 years too late).
SAINT CATHERINE OF ALEXANDRIA
Legend states that Catherine was the daughter of Constus, governor of Alexandria in Egypt. She is said to have received a "most splendid education." She declared to her parents that she would only enter into marriage with someone who surpassed her in reputation, wealth, beauty and wisdom. Catherine's mother was secretly a Christian, and sent her to a hermit who told her of a youth who surpassed her in everything, such that "His beauty was more radiant than the shining of the sun, His wisdom governed all creation, His riches were spread throughout all the world."
Having prayed and received a vision that urged her baptism, she became a Christian and was transported to heaven in vision and betrothed to Christ by the Virgin Mary (this ancient theme of a mystical marriage to a deity is familiar in the ecstatic mythology of the eastern Mediterranean and Anatolia).
Catherine's legend goes on to relate how she is said to have visited the current Roman Emperor (who could have been Maximian, Maximinus II, or Maxentius) and to have attempted to convince him of the error of his ways in persecuting Christians. Her legend states that Catherine succeeded in converting his wife, the Empress, and also many pagan wise men sent to dispute with her by the Emperor, all of whom were subsequently martyred. The Emperor ordered Catherine into prison, and when the people who visited her converted, she was condemned to death on the breaking wheel (an instrument of torture). The wheel itself broke when she touched it, so she was beheaded.
SAINT MARGARET OF ANTIOCH
Aprocryphal virgin and martyr. Her father was a pagan priest in Pisidian Antioch, Asia Minor (modern Turkey). Her mother died when Margaret was an infant, and the child was raised by a Christian woman. Her father disowned her, her nurse adopted her, and Margaret converted, consecrated herself and her virginity to God.
A Roman prefect saw the beautiful young woman tending sheep, and tried to get her into his bed. When she refused, he denounced her as a Christian, and she was brought to trial. When she refused to sacrifice to the pagan gods, the authorities tried to burn her, then boil her in a large cauldron; each time her prayers kept her unharmed. She was finally martyred by beheading.
Part of her story involves her meeting the devil in the form of a dragon, being swallowed by the dragon, and then escaping safely when the cross she carried irritated the dragon's innards.
SAINT GEORGE OF CAPPADOCIA
George was born to a Christian family during the late 3rd century. His father was from Cappadocia and served as an officer of the Roman army. His mother was from Lydda, Iudaea (now Lod, Israel). She returned to her native city as a widow along with her young son, where she provided him with an education.
The youth followed his father's example by joining the army soon after coming of age. He proved to be a good soldier and consequently rose through the military ranks of the time. By his late twenties he had gained the title of Tribunus (Tribune) and then Comes (Count), at which time George was stationed in Nicomedia as a member of the personal guard attached to Roman Emperor Diocletian.
The episode of St George and the Dragon was Eastern in origin, brought back with the Crusaders and retold with the courtly appurtenances belonging to the genre of Romance (Loomis; Whatley). The earliest known depiction of the mytheme is from early eleventh-century Cappadocia (Whately), (in the iconography of the Eastern Orthodox Church, George had been depicted as a soldier since at least the seventh century); the earliest known surviving narrative text is an eleventh-century Georgian text (Whatley).
In the fully-developed Western version, a dragon makes its nest at the spring that provides water for the city of Cyrene in Libya or the city of Lydda, depending on the source. Consequently, the citizens have to dislodge the dragon from its nest for a time, in order to collect water. To do so, each day they offer the dragon a human sacrifice. The victim is chosen by drawing lots. One day, this happened to be the princess. The monarch begs for her life with no result. She is offered to the dragon, but there appears the saint on his travels. He faces the dragon, slays it and rescues the princess. The grateful citizens abandon their ancestral paganism and convert to Christianity.
According to the hagiography, in 303 Diocletian issued an edict authorizing the systematic persecution of Christians across the Empire. The emperor Galerius was supposedly responsible for this decision and would continue the persecution during his own reign (305–311). George was ordered to take part in the persecution but instead confessed to being a Christian himself and criticized the imperial decision. An enraged Diocletian ordered the torture of this apparent traitor, and his execution.
After various tortures, beginning with being lacerated on a wheel of swords, George was executed by decapitation before Nicomedia's defensive wall on April 23, 303. The witness of his suffering convinced Empress Alexandra and Athanasius, a pagan priest, to become Christians as well, and so they joined George in martyrdom. His body was returned to Lydda for burial, where Christians soon came to honour him as a martyr.
Christian hagiography Saint George - The Saint who killed the Dragon (ca. 275-281–April 23, 303) was a soldier of the Roman Empire, from Anatolia, now modern day Turkey, who was venerated as a Christian martyr. Saint George is one of the most venerated saints in the Eastern Orthodox Church and Oriental Orthodox Churches. Immortalised in the tale of George and the Dragon, he is the patron saint of Canada, Catalonia, England, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, Montenegro, Portugal, Serbia, the cities of Istanbul, Ljubljana and Moscow.

ULTILIZING FAME OF ANOTHER LEADS ENTIRE ARMIES TO POLITICAL VICTORY
LEGEND OF PERSONNA LENDS POLITICAL AND MILITARY VICTORY AFTER DEATH
SAINT JAMES OF ZEBEDEE-IN SPAIN
Saint James, son of Zebedee (d. AD 44) was one of the disciples of Jesus. He was the son of Zebedee and Salome and brother of John the Evangelist. He is called Saint James the Greater to distinguish him from the other apostle named James (James, son of Alphaeus). James is described as one of the first disciples to join Jesus. The Synoptic Gospels state that James and John were with their father by the seashore when Jesus called them to begin traveling (Mt.4:21-22, Mk.1:19-20). According to Mark, James and John were called Boanerges, or the "Sons of Thunder" (3:17). Acts of the Apostles 12:1-2 records that King Herod had James executed by sword (Ac.12:1-2).
According to ancient local tradition, on 2 January of the year AD 40, the Virgin Mary appeared to James on the bank of the Ebro River at Caesaraugusta, while he was preaching the Gospel in Spain. She supposedly appeared upon a pillar, Nuestra Señora del Pilar, and that pillar is conserved and venerated within the present Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, in Zaragoza, Spain. Following that apparition, St James returned to Judea, where he was beheaded by King Herod Agrippa I in the year 44.
The translation of his relics from Judea to Galicia in the northwest of Iberia was effected, in legend, by a series of miraculous happenings: decapitated in Jerusalem with a sword by Herod Agrippa himself, his body was taken up by angels, and sailed in a rudderless, unattended boat to Iria Flavia in Spain, where a massive rock closed around his relics, which were later removed to Compostela. The 12th-century Historia Compostellana commissioned by bishop Diego Gelmírez provides a summary of the legend of St James as it was believed at Compostela. Two propositions are central to it: first, that St James preached the gospel in Spain as well as in the Holy Land; second, that after his martyrdom at the hands of Herod Agrippa I his disciples carried his body by sea to Spain, where they landed at Padrón on the coast of Galicia, and took it inland for burial at Santiago de Compostela.
SANTIAGO MATAMOROS: An even later tradition states that he miraculously appeared to fight for the Christian army during the battle of Clavijo during the Reconquista, and was henceforth called Matamoros (Moor-slayer). Santiago y cierra España ("St James and strike for Spain") has been the traditional battle cry of Spanish armies.
St James the Moorslayer, one of the most valiant saints and knights the world ever had … has been given by God to Spain for its patron and protection.

|ONLY SUGGESTING THAT THE SAME MINDSET WHICH GAVE BIRTH TO DRAGONLORE, GAVE BIRTH TO RELIGION, THEY ARE ONE IN THE SAME, EVIDENCE THAT DRAGONLORE AND RELIGION HAVE SAME ROOTS.|
Good pics, that's why the comment, in spite of your ALL CAPS SHOUTING (see more below).
What is the dragon based on? One wonders whether deeply embedded in our genetic material, there is some memory of dragons (dinosaurs?), just as certain animals instinctively fear the eagles, etc. The Welsh flag has a dragon, note it is distinguished from other nations in that the Welsh dragon has one foot in the air.
However, I would no more think to make an all encompassing statement as "religion is based on dragons" as I would to say "religion is based on trees". There is a humorous story of a monk, sent to the Frisian islands to tame the natives, bring them under the fold. He sees they are worshiping a giant, beautiful oak tree. Believing them to worship a false good, he aims to set them straight, and taking out an ax, proceeds to chop the tree down. The frisian's are not pleased, and he meets the same fate St. Kilian and two others meet in Wurzburg at another time, in different circumstances.
I will say though, the dragon is a more fearsome symbol than a tree, that is certain.

One thing you should know, is that in the land of the internet, protocol should be followed. Using all caps (1) is considered to be shouting (2) relegates your post to mere rantings.
Consider taking the time to write a reasoned post, using proper case, and your point will carry more weight. Just an FYI.
alive and still talking - May 7, 2007 09:28 PM (GMT)
MAYBE THE WELSH DRAGON WAS MARKING HIS TERRITORY
(you will see my point in a minute) there's a moral to every story...
BIG LIZARDS were real in those days. average height of humans less than 4-5ft
much smaller than present day, so if you were a midget, a GIANT crocodile or SERPENT in your face could easily be associated with dragonlore, that is what launched Saint George and others to fame with the masses, defeating a crocodile at the watering hole
religion is too touchy a subject to go on. here it is 2007 and we have not progressed that much with our institutions. still at WAR, still clinging to LORE
I think we are all ranting over the insanity of the times, wondering what it will
take to cure the ills of this country. Popular belief at one time was that religion was the cure. Mixed with politics, now may be the ILL instead of the CURE
We need some "graphic pictures " from INDEPENDENT media of the bloodletting and mutilation of war to shake these people up. It only took one photo of a small girl in Vietnam,
the image of this girl with her clothes burned off by NAPALM running down the road screaming--woke everybody up, killed the draft. stopped the slaughter for a while, anyway.
Nothing has changed from ancient times, only one difference : we know a GIANT crocodile or snake is not a dragon, otherwise.... IT IS " BUSINESS AS USUAL"
alive and still talking - May 10, 2007 11:57 AM (GMT)
KUPCHI> frightening images were designed by leaders to frighten the enemy and frighten the masses into submission like what the republicans are doing right now.
when done in ancient times it was VERY effective.
TITAN WAR GOD OF ANCIENT OLYMPUS
In a modern day democracy that tactic ONLY works for a little while
REPUBLICAN WAR GOD OF 21st CENTURY
THE LAST TWO PICS ARE THE SAME:
THREATENING HAND GESTURE
DEATH AND DESTRUCTION

It's a wonder that you don't spend your time in the Dungeons and Dragons message board, you seem to know so much about it having dedicated about 4 very long posts to the subject. I do have a fascination with folklore and religion but it doesn't mean I subscribe to any particular sect. That is not a requisite to believing in other dimensional realities or an "afterlife". I agree that organized religion is crap and is only meant to dominate people's minds, and consequently, their bodies. Please study the term "Gnostic". Here's a clue: not one set ideology can claim ownship of the term. There are good and bad with every denomination.

its not RELIGION but what men DO with it.
question posed : are religions based on death cults, in view of current events
I have to say YES, originally said NO, but after a little research, changed my mind
THE BUSH REGIME FITS THE DEATH CULT CATEGORY PERFECTLY
Seems that other cultures which traditionally FEAR the dragon, are quick to respond to fear and kill others indiscriminantly in the name of SELF-DEFENSE
Cultures who have a history of showing RESPECT and HONOR to the dragon, have
a peace-loving nature within their culture and are NOT easily driven to WAR

Is that a bad thing? Lol. Those are mostly the stereo typical Mormons in Utah. I myself am nothing of that type, but then again. I like to be different from everyone else. xD
In your question about are all religions based on death cults, what do you mean? Those that dwell mainly on death? If so, I would have to say no. But I would like a clarification before I vote. :)

compared "cultures" based on dragon LORE, diagrams from
history archives is proof enough we all have something in common
here in the United States, freedom from religion was also interpereted as freedom
of religion, we have so many churches now, that it staggers the imagination
(countless thousands of churches). And they call us "GODLESS" PEOPLE/
Our history is quite unique, since we are the only country to freely practice our religion'the constitution protects these freedoms by making one very important exception:
that we can not HARM others in the process. somehow, the Bush regime by virtue
of power once in the white house took abuse of our system to the EXTREME, forcing their DOGMA of fear and hate on the rest of the population, stealing the white house by sabotaging our voting machines
why nothing was ever done about it is beyond me, unless we as a species have been pre-programmed since the beginning of time--to DO NOTHING
large reptiles used to wander into the hut and eat a family member for a midnight
snack. each culture had different ways of dealing with predation. if you cant beat
em, join em
obvious solution was to offer up the enemy one at a time to feed the monsters
tribal reject was dinner, old and sick clan members. religion created human sacrifice ritual to appease the monster god so that the rest of the clan didnt have to be the next meal
behavior pattern is deeply imbedded in our brains. must explain why bush is still in the white house. better to offer up sacrifice ( our soldiers) think of 911 as a terrible beast from across the sea attacking our village, be glad it wasnt one of us, and eat our sandwich like good little children
same thing happened in New Orleans, shock gradually settled into complacency
while the FEW like OURSELVES remembered SEEING the attrocities and continue fighting it through
GOES ALL THE WAY BACK its in the genes
patterning of human behavior by ancestry (evolution)
independantthinker - May 14, 2007 08:29 AM (GMT)
In my honest opinion,a number of the religions are based on death cults ... ie: Christians put their faith and fanatism in a man who was crucified on a cross, blocked in a cave with a giant rock, and brought back to life three days later (I know I'm stating what most people know ..
I personally don't believe in Jesus. I'm a pagan witch ... and I recall nowhere in my readings of my gods and goddesses dying and coming back.
And, obviously, dragons to have a place in the history of art ... but there is really not written proof that these folks actually interacted with them.
Like my auntie used to say "A battle of wits with an unarmed person is as smart as going after the mafia while armed with a banana"

BOTH religions, AND cultures BECOME EVIL when SOMETHING EVIL
IS IN CONTROL of them. take that evil control away and things quickly return to normal.
UKperspective - May 17, 2007 09:48 PM (GMT)
There is nothing wrong with religion per se,
it is just organised religion which is a problem in my view.
In a way you could claim that people who were passionately involved in anything including 9-11 truth investigations are envolved in a religion. Consumerism is another religion.
Music and beer is my religion these days.
Most major organised religions I view as methods of population control, but the populations which they were designed to control were the people of thousands of years ago so it is today hugely different.
alive and still talking - May 18, 2007 03:13 AM (GMT)
that is true, same with political leaders-- those who are entrusted to lead, inspire, serve and protect can abuse their powers bringing chaos and destruction in their wake
wish we could travel back in time, we have gained so much knowledge as a human race, only to loose everything and have to start all over again from scratch because we fail to learn from past mistakes

All religious belief stems from one sorce the Ananocy. (not sure on spelling) The name means "From heaven to earth come." The oldest known scriptures called the sand script tell of a snake like race that came to earth for minerals. After a worker revolt they took primitive apes and made early man as slave workers. The text said we where born from clay jars. Strangely this is what started the belief in egypt about storing organs in clay jars and rapping the body and placing it into a coffins. Along with todays coffins. Over the entire planet there have myths about snakes at the center of their nation. China's royalty came from dragons. Astecs are the people of the snake. The only areas where there are no myths about snakes where religious sects have crushed all historical reference to snakes. Or they demonize prior beliefs by calling their gods demons. Thus the snake in the garden of eden. christianity worked hard to distort the religion before it about a snake god that made the world in seven days and made

Thus the snake in the garden of eden. christianity worked hard to distort the religion before it about a snake god that made the world in seven days and made|
so, religions are based on love the snake or kill the snake
snakes were pretty big back then, so often referred to as dragons

Also known as sky dragons or heavenly dragon. Same could be said of the Anunnaki (found the spelling) ski or heavenly snakes. Also Anubis was refered to the bloodline of the Anunnaki. Read Zecharia Sitchin on history. I'll look for something on youtube they should have something.http://www.youtude.com/watch?v=5PInYItAEaEhttp://www.youtude.com/watch?v=fpN_KD7b0NQ...related&search=

DRAGONS ( SNAKE VARIETY) AND THEIR USES
now we are getting somewhere, annunaki and anubis are used in the same context
so now I know where to look, know one thing for sure, snake venom was used to
kill the enemy and political foes, traitors, which is why reptiles (snakes) were
revered as protectors, as gods, delivering the people, especially thosse who used the snake venom to achieve their objective.
mushrooms on the other hand (indiginous to africa/egypt only) were reponsible for out-of-body experiences that expanded the creative process, and provided a basis for an understanding of the boundless world of the spirit body, including that of animals. the writings are all over the walls of egyptian temples showing the
mushrom symbol in almost every aspect of royal court. other species of mushroom were used to confound the enemy, rendering them helpless, thus
providing a guarantee of victory in face of the enemy. mushrooms are used even today
this mushroom was used on the sick and dying when they entered the afterlife, same thing was practiced in the pyramid culture of central america, because
originally , they were one culture. ceremony of entering the afterlife while free
of the physical confines of the body, was entered into be the sick and dying
voluntarilly, not used as a form of torture. the mushroom erased all pain and
sensation, was also used in surgery
THE WRITING ON THE WALL
the writings are all over the walls of egyptian temples showing the
mushrom symbol in almost every aspect of royal court. other species of mushroom were used to confound the enemy, rendering them helpless, thus
providing a guarantee of victory in face of the enemy. mushrooms are used even today both recreationally, religiously, and to make medicines.

"Alive and still "Kicking"" you would be greatly interested in Gods of Eden by William Bramley. I'm reading it now and I'm going to be up all night on two liters of Mountain Dew, checking details and references. If you find anything interesting, post it up here. It'd be nice to have a double checker. :)
The preservation techniques were taught to priests by these gods of eden. The Pharaohs were told that they would gain immortality if they preserved their bodies, which is probably bollix. If that stuff about monatomic gold is true, it was a trick against the Pharaohs by the gods to have them chasing after immortality. We all wonder "What's going to happen when we die?" Unfortunately I think we all just die because we're all chasing after immortality using "mortal" techniques. We're infinite Material because our particles go to other things, but not immortal. So we continue as another thing but not know it. Possibly we have an infinite Immaterial self, with an identity, but not immortal, with memory.*** This could explain why the divine "gods" continue to live on somehow and remember to do evil, or possibly, like where books give limited immortality, indoctrination is how the "gods" live on. This indoctrination did happen in the School of Mysteries, an overthrown Brotherhood of the Serpent. I'll talk about the Brotherhood later on.
***Atheists don't believe in a Spirit, and say the mind is the brain, a complex array of neurons and other cool things to make chemical reactions from other actions/reactions that make us think, feel, and remember. So if our Material selves are infinite it's because our particles do make other things. If some of our particles end up making a new human, great. We won't remember anything, and that's just life.
Anyways, Egyptian priests learned at the School of Mysteries. Watch Prince of Egypt where Moses confronts the Pharaoh. The priests make a flashy show to counter Moses' miracles. Ancient civilizations had some amazing technology. Flying machines, computers, light bulbs. Amazing. All made possible by the Annunaki and their brilliance, or their ILLUMINATION.
Man was possibly created by combining the gods' DNA and that of the apeman. "There was no Adamu to till the soil." Gee, what do you think these guys wanted us for? Slavery. So they make us slaves and it's paradise, we have no clue what is going on. It's awesome. We didn't have to tie our shoes because we weren't entitled to have shoes, or clothes for that matter. So one of the gods, the one that gave the gods the idea to make us, a kind hearted sailor, builder, and genetic engineer, by the name of EnKi, or Ea or whatever else, told Man what was going on. Good and evil. Truth and deception. Justice and injustice. Right and wrong. He was our first savior teacher in a line of so-called Messiahs. EnKi taught us, that is to say freed us, and clothed us.
The gods drive us out from their ILLUMINATION. We felt bad about it. Paradise was so good. We didn't have to THINK. They go on to call EnKi a slithering deceptive and poisonous snake. He starts the Brotherhood of the Serpent to teach Mankind of Good and Evil. The serpent was the greatest, the smartest, and also a great teacher, an illumined one on both ends of the spectrum lol. Now the picture has changed, the creature being the same. Look at the American Medical Association which greatly supports vaccinations now. Its symbol is two weaving snakes. That was all about the first Brotherhood of the Serpent. Now it(the Old Brotherhood) has been taken over, spreading deception as so-called ILLUMINATION. The AMA is a tool of the New Brotherhood. It isn't the Brotherhood itself. The Brotherhood is made of many different organizations that have the same goal in mind.
The teaching of medicine is interesting. At first it was taught that spiritual healing resulted in physical healing. Now medicine is a tool to control. That's an example of the change that took place from the Old Brotherhood, led by the savior, to the New Brotherhood, led by the deceiver. So if you want to simplify like good ol' monotheism does, Satan is the deceiver. God is the savior. Remember the roles are switched because "Satan" deceived us and called himself Lord. He/they basically is/are Lord/s of the Earth. Doesn't that sound familiar in the bible?
I have been told by my youth leader, "Wouldn't God leave one thing of his word intact?" Absolutely not when it comes to the Written SOUND, although there are half truths, some full truths, some downright lies, whatever the gods wanted at that part of the bible. Satan is the lord of the earth, the skewer of the SOUND when in the Material. The SOUND is written(Materialized) in the bible. The bible has been skewed. And so has preaching so by all means, do not take what I say as absolute. I guess I don't have to tell you guys. This might be a nice breath of fresh air from the scripture usually jammed down the throat, but it was starting to sound like preaching to me...
Oh and what's interesting in this talk of skewing the word of god(the Annunaki, Elohim, whatever...) is that my youth leader is Christian and the bible he was talking about was the Christian bible. So they(the gods, the ones my youth leader accidentally worship) are skewing the word of the real god...sort of? So it's confusing. They aren't skewing their/his word exactly. Their word is deception. So they use skewing to deceive. They use real people and perform wonderful looking science to deceive Mankind. It's written as their word. In fact they use EnKI's act of saving us to make them look like merciful guys. When mankind was out of control, they wanted to kill us, and possibly start over again. Either they were behind saving one man that was honorable to them and thus Noah was a traitor to humans, but they did start over. Or EnKi, the skilled sailor and builder, told Noah that a flood was coming and again saved us.
Basically "they" have been thwarting, tricking, befuddling, and stupefying Mankind so that they can enslave us. They have done the greatest acts of divide and conquer ever conceived. All this and out of their "infinite mercy" we have free will to eat McDonalds or Burgerking, wear a push-up or not, mini skirt or tight jeans, have a handjob or blowjob, anal sex or vaginal sex. Of course there's always abstinence, wearing cargo jeans(which by the way are going out of fashion except for goths(Mavericks...on a good day...), wear sports bras, and eating an interesting thing called ummm...how do you spell it? vechtables?
Call me a cynic, but that's what I'm observing. Maybe that's because I go to the Board of Cooperative Educational Services school where we are one big dysfunctional family. My first day, I saw this guy smack a girl's butt so it sounded through the whole long hallway and she giggled. Wow. At least there's a lack of organized religion there. Oh wait organized religion basically is organized gangsters, mostly without the guns and drugs...maybe not on that last one. So yeah in answer to the original question, I guess if you want to look at it that way as the Brotherhood is a death cult and major religions stemmed from it to divide and conquer.
ps. I really have to research more. This is obviously not close to complete. I haven't even gotten through Gods of Eden completely. And I have to train myself to not mess up "the new information" too much with Christianity(as in apply Christianity to it, you see that in the Protestant Reformation where Luther is still attached to Christianity). Use the bible, but don't say for instance "Well the information being withheld by god is the information of Life or His Plan so that we have to follow him for it." As in the true god, not the fake ones. No information is being withheld. I am past that one because I guess humans could be divine just as these gods were, but you might catch my drift. What I said above is what I have gotten so far, in generalizations. Work off it if you want, but I suggest reading that book and continue inquiring.
If ignorance was bliss, I'd rather be miserable.
