Okay here is the links for the texture converting tools

here are the instructions my way

1. Get photo shop obviously plus the dds plug-in from RTW
2. update too 1.1 by the patch
3. Use the unpacker too get the files you want
4.Click on this link

http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.p...620#post1359620

5. Get python 2.5

http://www.python.org/download/releases/2.5/ get the one that fits your computers running system.

6. make a new folder called convert where you can find it better
7.make the path for Python the same as the new created folder.
8. follow these steps

user posted image

Okay too convert all you have to do is pick the TEXTURE. file you want and put it into the new created folder.

click on convert_all_textures.bat

To change the file into DDS./TGA

after you are done with your editing of the unit and banner do this

Re convert the file back too TEXTURE.

Click on convert_all_dds.bat

after this the new TEXTURE file will be created

re paste it and replace the old TEXTURE file in the units_model folder under the right class of the unit.

also very important before you can run in game you will have too make another file

get rid of the these files in the data folder

datadescr_geography_new.txt
datadescr_geography_new.db

then you have too do this

make a new document with note pad.

and put this material inside of it

type in "medieval2.exe --io.file_first"(<...this is the new material you need to put inside of it)

then save it as

SEGA\Medieval II Total War" directory
as skinstart.bat

then run the game under that and your skin will be there

Can you explain the last part a bit more clearly, about how to run it with your skin?

SEGA\Medieval II Total War" directory
as skinstart.bat

Instead of clicking on the M2TW.exe you click on this "skinstart.bat" and it will run your new skin, shield or whatever will be shown inside the game.

It says:C:/Program Files/SEGA/Medieval II Total War/Python>texture_converter.py -d -all -sub
'texture_converter.py' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

C:/Program Files/SEGA/Medieval II Total War/Python>PAUSE
Press any key to continue . . .

I press the key, the batch stops, and nothing happens. sad.gif

Ok well what I did was change the name of convert_all_textures to convert_all_textures.bat then I opened the msi file again and told it to repair. After it did that I ran texture_converter python file and then the convert_all_textures again and it worked...

I'm going to need you too do me some re skinned Byzantine banners, and they have too look realistic. I am thinking either use the Greek state flags or whatever you think was fact and not fiction.
