I just wish PrP wuld hurry up and air here! Unless your laptop is set to play DVDs from region 1 it won't work, cuz these will be region 1 DVDs. I mean you can change your laptop DVD region, but it only lets you do that a few times before it gets stuck in a region....forever....not advisable IMO.

Maybe we should write ABC and tell them to make the DVDs all regions, it is the least they could do!

stormira - my brother looked up some code on the internet and it made my Australian region (I'm not sure of the region number? 3?) DVD player multiregional and now able to play my American DVDs :D . Apparently there is a code for every make of DVD player that makes it multiregional and you just number the code in on your DVD controller and it works! Have a look and see if you can do this for your player before buying a new one ;) .

Given the $ is so weak at the moment, it should be fairly cheap, given Amazon.com will probably give a discount on the RRP. Multi-region DVD players are now very cheap, but you can easily hack players to make them region-free. Just google the make of the player & the word 'hack'. Usually it's just pressing a few buttons in a certain combination that unlocks it ;)

Maybe you could search your computer model on google or something and try and find out if yours is multi-regional? Just a suggestion. Or it may even say in some of the info booklets that came with it perhaps?
