Title: Final Fantasy XIII-2 Discussion
Description: *NO PLOT SPOILERS
HCBailly - January 31, 2012 04:45 PM (GMT)
This topic is for discussing your experience with Final Fantasy XIII-2. I had already pre-ordered my own copy from Amazon, so I will be creating a topic for my own experience later.
Unlike my other topics, I would strongly moderate this topic for plot-related spoilers. However, I would encourage discussing what the plot is like in a general way, without spoiling the actual events themselves, if possible.
Thanks for the discussion. Have fun!

Gunna get the game on Thursday since it's a half-off day at school. Friday at the latest since there's no school that day.
Chrona - January 31, 2012 04:56 PM (GMT)
Mine should be in on Friday, ordered off the US amazon since the CA one was missing either the collectors edition or the Omega DLC, forget which
CinderRocks - January 31, 2012 04:56 PM (GMT)
Just waiting for the UPS truck here. Already recieved the email with the Omega DLC code.
Acynder - January 31, 2012 04:57 PM (GMT)
Ima have to buy the Omega DLC. Since I didn't pre-order the game.
silverdragon - January 31, 2012 05:00 PM (GMT)
I have to wait till Friday <_< because I live in the UK.
From the demo that I played the monster recruitment is probably going to be a challenge for me to get the right monsters for the right Paradigm

i have to wait..... until i'll have the urge to look up a walkthrough of it since i don't have a 360 or a ps3.....
Taku - January 31, 2012 05:02 PM (GMT)
You'll have to wait a bit, HC. I won't be playing my copy until after college and I'll probably be spending some time just looking through the collector's edition stuff. Expect updates at around 7-8 PM tonight or later, or maybe I'll just wait until morning.
Also, if some money I'm expecting comes in today I'll also be getting the Collector's edition guide to go along with my FFXIII one.

Pre-ordered from GameStop, Best Buy and Amazon, to get all the pre-order bonuses. Going to be returning two of them though (Amazon and GameStop) and just redeem the codes first. Just waiting for the UPS guy with the Collector's Edition from Best Buy (the one I'm going to keep) and Collector's Edition guide.

I thought about doing that and maybe sell the other two copies with an autograph to my viewers (apparently, some people like that). The other two DLCs don't interest me, at all, though.
Begaria - January 31, 2012 05:27 PM (GMT)
I'll be joining you guys in about four months when the game is twenty dollars and comes with all of the DLC for free. Maybe by then Square Enix will have released the ending.
Jesting aside, I am looking forward to playing the game. With tax season right around the corner and my gaming time being taken up by my backlog, I can't justify buying a new game at this time.
Sekka - January 31, 2012 05:38 PM (GMT)
I have to wait until later today to go to GameStop to pick up my copy. I wonder if they'll have the guide as well.
joran - January 31, 2012 07:28 PM (GMT)
I was in the store today, and the guy there said they would be selling it tomorrow, due to some eraly release. Unfortunately I have to work from tomorrow til saturday, so wont get to play until sunday. Enjoy the game guys.

We were talking about the value of plot in an RPG earlier, and I thought of something. I think it greatly depends on how much playtime is taken up by the plot. For example, from FFX, FF12, and FF13, I consider the plots of all of them to be extremely lackluster and average, at best. However, I find the plot of FF12 to be the most tolerable, because it takes up a relative fraction of the total gameplay time. In FFX and FF13, the cutscenes take up such a huge amount of time, that they stand out more. However, since FF13 had nearly perfect battle mechanics, IMHO, I found that game to be my favorite, of the three.
Fangfanboy - January 31, 2012 08:23 PM (GMT)
I just got 13-2 CE and the CE Guide
I read the behind the scenes already very interesting
Deraj626 - January 31, 2012 08:43 PM (GMT)
Pry start tommorow. Definetly going to stay out of here though.
Fangfanboy - January 31, 2012 08:43 PM (GMT)
Ah they have a recap of each chapter of 13 voiced too
supp - January 31, 2012 08:52 PM (GMT)
My (general) thoughts on the story: while pretty strong overall, there were certain parts (you'll know) that really just made me angry at SquareEnix.
Nosgard - January 31, 2012 09:03 PM (GMT)
i'm seriously considering buying this game, but i'm going to wait until I hear the feed back from you all, as I have less disposable income than Bailly, I have to be a little more picky. :P
Anyway, i'm mostly interested in knowing if it will require actual brain-work, or if its just "Push X to win" because i've been craving challenges for the most part in the last few years of my life, pushing for a harder and harder game and all zat. :<

Brain-work is required. Technically you can auto-battle but it's less effective than inputting commands manually.
Konrad - January 31, 2012 09:13 PM (GMT)
Shipped Monday so... I have absolutely no idea when it'll show up. It said it'd arrive Saturday, but Amazon always overestimates shipping times with me, so I don't know. I'm anxious, regardless.
stonewall_kotdm - January 31, 2012 09:14 PM (GMT)
I guess I should get off my ass and buy one, eh? lol
Schloss Ritter - January 31, 2012 09:23 PM (GMT)
What about the Quicktime Events aka "Push X now or lose"?

I play alot of action games, i'm use to those situations, so I doubt it will frusrate me as much as alot of you will be, as reflexively pushing buttons on command is how I do alot of my blocking in games like GoW :P
Either way, I have heard really good things, and i'm hoping that getting some reviews from people I know personally (well, as personal as this is) will back it up :>

If anyone's interested,
this guy is streaming. Spoilers inside, obviously.
HCBailly - January 31, 2012 09:35 PM (GMT)
I wonder how anyone is able to stream live videos. Doesn't everyone have a bandwidth cap? I upload 15-30 minutes per day of video and that's already half my limit. I can't imagine being able to stream hours of live content like that. My brother plays on a Minecraft server where they do live streaming and says they're constantly battling their ISP on their bandwidth usage.

the polite way of explaining this is "your internet provider must really have you by the balls, huh?" theirs no bandwith cap on my internet, I have unlimited useage, so I could stream without hesitation. They also know if they tried to cap it, I would sue them, and I would win, because I have a contract they can't get out of without my consent. You gota negotiate unlimited useage from your internet providers, they need your money more htan you need them, their are other options, it aint JUST comcast or verizon. When you make it clear YOU CAN and WILL go elsewhere, they will listen.
fuck it, Bailly i'll do it for you. Whose your internet provider, just wait til after my tooth is pulled and i'll help you get unlimited bandwith, though it might cost a bit more, this is a negotiation after all, but it IS an option, you just can't take any shit from those penny-pinching internet providers. Gota get mad at em, gota show em you aint to be fucked with, you do.
Begaria - January 31, 2012 09:40 PM (GMT)
My ISP doesn't have a Bandwith cap. 10 Mbps for $54.95/month, no cap. The next step up (and the fastest in my area) is 25 Mbps for $74.95/month, no cap.

Hum Summoners Garb (Gamestop DLC Preorder) or Default Outfit
I think the garb fits more with Serah modest and not skanky

she's a woman in a video game, we've had this discussion before. Her personality is irrelevant, she WILL be made skanky in appearance for the purpose of selling copies. I've seen her outfit that she naturally wears (non-DLC) it only furthers my point. Which is a pity really, because I liked her more..gentle not..crazy slutty personality :<

I don't even know what to say here.

Maybe I shouldn't have said anything when Nos is around
I was just saying this outfit fits her personality better

Chrona - January 31, 2012 10:05 PM (GMT)
Bandwidth caps? Scary...
*goes back to torrenting a few terabytes of anime*
Nosgard - January 31, 2012 10:11 PM (GMT)
pish posh, I actually like serah's personality..at least in FF13, I was technically agreeing wiff you all, the new outfit they put her in..little to skanky for her personality, which is sad, but inevitable. <_< Defensive peeps are defensive, just because they don't like the cold fact that everything is about money, and sex simply sales to good to ignore in media. Ah well, :(

No, I meant the "because I liked her more..gentle not..crazy slutty personality :< "
What? Crazy slutty? Where did THAT come from?
