Title: A Link to the Past LP Discussion
Description: *SPOILERS allowed here

HCBailly - December 6, 2011 12:56 AM (GMT)
Welcome to Let's Play The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past! This topic is for discussing my current LP of the game.

Unlike my YouTube comments, I do allow SPOILERS to be posted here. Read at your own risk.

Most importantly, have fun!

Acynder - December 6, 2011 12:59 AM (GMT)
FIRST!!!

Sorry I have Equestria Daily syndrome.

Deraj626 - December 6, 2011 01:09 AM (GMT)
Ooh good choice. As many good things I've heard, I've never been able to get into it myself so I'll stay out of here.

Konrad - December 6, 2011 01:10 AM (GMT)
Ah, ALttP. The only game in the series that I think serves as a rival to SS.

VShalak - December 6, 2011 01:11 AM (GMT)
Will you be showing off the famous Chris Houlihan room in this LP?

Alxprit - December 6, 2011 01:11 AM (GMT)
You repeatedly refer to the other version of Link to the Past as the Game Boy Color version. But it's on the Game Boy Advance... unless you're referring to some other game. Regardless, I'm very excited for this game; maybe now I'll finally get every Heart Piece.

Speyeker - December 6, 2011 01:18 AM (GMT)
You know, it's kind of funny--only two weeks ago I saw Scott Pilgrim, which takes some sound cues from LttP.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=playe...d1osK1I6c#t=22s

Not to mention the opening, which has the "Triforce coming together" sound from the title sequence of LttP.

Erzie - December 6, 2011 01:21 AM (GMT)
All credit goes to Speyeker on this one! Good job.

Sacred Nym - December 6, 2011 01:26 AM (GMT)
I figured, because you never made public any test runs and this was the only game you said you had notes for. :P

stonewall_kotdm - December 6, 2011 01:32 AM (GMT)
When I first began watching HC Bailly LP's I was mad that he didn't have one for Link to the Past.

My life is now only a few short episodes away from being complete. I had a full-on nerd-gasm when I saw Mr. Bailly's announcement of this on Facebook.

LttP is and has been for YEARS #2 on my all time favorite games list. To me, its the perfect Zelda game. It's simple, its challenging without being hair-pullingly difficult (Hi, Water Temple!!) and its just FUN.

You can all keep your Skyward Swords, your Twilight Princess and your Ocarina of Time, A Link to the Past is all the Zelda I need.

Thank you for this LP, Mr. Bailly. I will be tuning in to watch EVERY episode.

So which episode are you looking forward to?

And what's your favourite game of all time?

Yeah, I'll be showing that off.

futureperfect - December 6, 2011 01:41 AM (GMT)
Very nice choice. It's a good way to tie into the LoZ hype going on lately and bring more traffic into your page.

IcarusMJ12 - December 6, 2011 01:47 AM (GMT)
I had hoped you'd make this since seeing you do the Oracle games.

I have always been a big fan of the first 4 Dark World Dungeons. I dunno why, but I always really enjoyed playing that part of the game...and that's when I usually sequence break it, lol.

Here's my top 5 games of all time, since you asked.

5. Final Fantasy IV
4. Mega Man 3
3. Saga Frontier
2. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
1. Final Fantasy VI

That movie has a lot of video game references, even Phoenix Wright.

Have you seen the look on a young child's face when he opens a Christmas present and it's something he really, really wanted? Despite being a few months from being 30, that was the look on my face when I refreshed my sub box after work tonight :)

I've played this game more than almost any other. I've done minimalist runs, 100% runs, "pick up whatever I fee like" runs I'll play ALttP anytime.

Nosgard - December 6, 2011 02:37 AM (GMT)
so did he just keep this a secret because he wanted to suprise everyone or..did I seriously just fail so hard I didn't realize until RIGHT NOW that he intended to do this. I didn't know about test runs or..planning or even discussin this game...period. until right now...am I fail? :(

No, I didn't tell anyone, though I did indicate that I was thinking about it. It wasn't so much a secret, as much as I honestly didn't know if I was going to make a side LP this month. I thought about taking a little time off, but as usual, I got bored and wanted to make another LP.

Acynder - December 6, 2011 02:44 AM (GMT)
My biggest regret as a gamer is not being able to get more into the Zelda series. Some day....some day.

your a true hardcore gamer Bailly, its why I always got along with you so well. Oh sure we may have bouts of "meh..." but in the end...we know what we are, we have our passions, and we always go crawling back to em. I'll enjoy watching your LP of this, even if its a game i've beaten a dozen times..because well..even if action games aren't your fortay..you do alright I suppose B)

I wonder if that completionism will include showing what happens when you torture a certain fowl in the game for longer than intended, if you know what I mean.

I think Macaroni of Time and Majora's Mask has it. Possibly Twilight Princess.

lol, are you kidding? EVERY Zelda game since A Link to the Past has this. It's a running gag.

Konrad - December 6, 2011 03:33 AM (GMT)
Twilight Princess had this weird thing where you could control the bird for about ten seconds.

Erzie - December 6, 2011 03:36 AM (GMT)
Butchering all of the 3D Zelda game titles!

Macaroni of Time
Ajora's Mask
Sand Raker
Twirling Princess
Skewered Sword

I just thought of the Sand Raker one.

That does raise an interesting point, though. You've played the GBA version, so have you played The Four Swords?

I can confirm OoT and MM has that feature. I played other Zelda games, up to TP, but by the time that game came out, I was too old to really care about trying to beat up chickens in the game to verify it.

You should get yourself a 3DS before February 20, 2012 and download it for free since that version supports single player.

Yeah, but overall it's not a very good game IMO. It's okay, but there just felt like there was so much missing. I think that's because it's made for multiple players. Single player it's just meh.

Nosgard - December 6, 2011 04:07 AM (GMT)
people who game like Bailly don't ave alot of friends who can actually play games with them in the same room...to busy being gaming loners :P

no but seriously, it really wasn't that good..I tried it. Was NOT impressed. Curls the tail..in a bad way
