Xaras found that in this area, she preferred to stick to travel by rooftop. She ran along, hands in her pockets, staying just out of view of the inhabitants of the town. She was more curious to see what she could listen in on, as opposed to what she could actually get into. …Not that she wouldn’t mind sneaking a thing or two for her own personal enjoyment. The woman skidded to a stop on the large gate she had passed earlier, and dropped to sit.

From up here she had an amazing view of the town. It wasn’t like the castle, where you could barely see the details. She could see the people milling about on the roads, kids playing marbles in a back alleyway, a stray dog chasing a cat into a house.

Watching, she decided one thing. This place was exactly like Twilight Town. Except..
She frowned, leaning forward on her hands as she watched strange silver orbs floating around the streets. Except she had never seen one of those before. She was curious now.

“Hollow Bastions security system,” Chimed a young girls voice behind her. Xaras felt like a weight had just sunk into her shoulders. How could anyone sound that damnably cheerful? Without waiting for a promptying, the voice just…kept rattling on.

“Cid and I designed it ourselves, with Merlyn’s help of course, you new right? You gotta be, I know everyone around here. Anyways. It keeps the heartless creatures out, can sense them you know? They destroyed your world too right? They won’t destroy this one, we’ve been protecting it for a while now. Sora’s helped us a ton of times. Sora’s a keyblade wielder, like his friends. Cept he was the first of them. He’s really talented, cute too. Everyone likes him..”

Xaras face had flattened into something between severely annoyed and homicidal. Did this human ever shut up? She stood, hands in her pants pockets, and turned to look at this babbling voice. Yuffie, as it had introduced itself, was a short, female human with bobbed black hair, and attire that Xaras didn’t even want to describe. It suited the creature though, as it popped its hand out for a handshake. The outfit was almost as overwhelming as the child itself. Xaras didn’t take the hand. She just arched her eyebrow at the girl.

This earned a giggle. “Geeze, your just like Leon. He gave me the same face when I met him. So let me guess. You’re the strong, stoic type with a dark past.”

“Actually,” Xaras sighed, moving to the other side of the gate that led towards the castle, “I have no past. Your just annoying.” She lept off, not pulling her hands out of her pockets as she landed on the ground. She didn’t look back, starting to walk the long path.

“H-hey!” Yuffie called, jumping down to follow. She landed in a crouch, not nearly as gracefully as the nobody, and ran after her. “You shouldn’t be out here! It isn’t safe. We haven’t gotten the security machines out here and a heartless could find you.”

This, brought a fit of laughter from Xaras, and she turned on Yuffie, smirking. “A heartless, could find me….” She laughed again, “Kid,” she leaned over, nose to nose with Yuffie, “It’s none of your business what finds me. Or what he does with me.”

Yuffie stumbled back quickly, a red blush washing over her cheeks as she furrowed her brows. “H..he? But, you..you…”

“I…I what?”

“You don’t look like one of them!”

“What, like a heartless?” Yuffie’s face was drawing into a scowl when Xaras used the word so lightly. She felt patronized, mocked. “Yeah!” She answered, “You look normal.”

Xaras contemplated her, “Yeah, but you haven’t met my friends.”

Yuffie’s eyes widened and she reached down, quickly grabbing for the receiver on her hip. “L-leo-! Hey!”

Xaras had taken not but a step to be at Yuffie’s side, and had snatched up the communications device with barely any effort. If she had been a cat, she’d have been purring, the way the smirk she wore danced on her lips. Her fingers curled in, crushing the object before she tossed it to the side. “Now now,” she said, straightening, “We can’t be having any of that.”

Yuffie begrudgingly accepted the fact that this woman was fast, true, but the fact that she could crush the heavy duty equipment with her bare hands…was unnerving. She needed distance. Yuffie repelled herself back, into the canyon wall, and then up, scrambling to the top. She let out a yelp when she reached the top and Xaras was already standing in front of her, grinning manically.

The dark haired girl broke into a run for the town, dropping a smoke bomb behind her in hopes of confusing the woman she had met. Why oh why couldn’t she take Leon’s advice and just shut her trap for once in her life?

Xaras grinned, waiting for the smoke to settle before she broke into a run herself. She caught up to Yuffie easily, grabbing her by the arm and swinging her back towards the castle. The little form flew for several feet, thumped into the ground, and rolled off the edge, into the canyon path. The white haired woman laughed, and followed after it.

Like a cat at play she didn’t hesitate to leap off the edge, curling up to pounce on Yuffie as she went. Yuffie stared up wide eyed, then set a determined frown on her face, hurling a large shuriken up at her attacker.

It barely missed, Xaras noticed as one sharp blade tore a line along her cheek. She had to roll a little to the side, landing off her target. She didn’t like being cut. It hurt. Shifting her feet in the dirt, she plowed into Yuffie’s side, using her fist to scoop her off the ground, knuckles digging into the spine before she leapt up, and brought a sharp kick into the girls ribcage.

A loud crack filled the air, matched by Yuffie’s cry out, as the ebony haired teen hit the ground. Xaras was on top of her, digging her knees into Yuffie’s now broken ribs. Tears streamed down Yuffie’s cheeks, and Xaras gripped onto her shoulder, palm of her hand over the heart.

“It’s over,” Xaras growled lowly in her ear, “You tried my patience. You could have lived, but you couldn’t leave me alone. You haaaaaaad to keep on talking. Haaaaaaaaaad to think you needed to alert your companions to some so called evil being.”

Several minutes later, Xaras was walking into the castle, amused and humming loudly, heading for the library. Oh what fun this could be.

To think, she could do things like that.

And no body was left!!

She burst into giggles as she threw open the doors, “Oh how I LOVE this town.”

Dwayne had been continuing through his research and continuously getting annoyed at his heartless minions and how clumsy they were he’d taken to doing the collecting himself…

Climbing the ladder he’s positioned against the fifth set of bookcases, he sighed and he pulled out another book from the top shelf and read the title. ‘Twilight’ by Stephenie Meyer, a book with an oddly designed cover; a person holding a lone red apple against a black backdrop. He blinked at it and turned it over to read the back, incase it was something of merit that he could take time out reading. And by what eh could gleam, there was vampires; a good thing, but it was a romance story.

Despite that, he opened the book and read through a page of the book, just encase it was an alright book and the vampire guy pretty much killed everyone or something. He blinked again at the book and closed it, throwing it down to an awaiting heartless that looked at the book with it’s blank yellow eyes. Dwayne pulled out another book and began reading it from where he was, paying little heed to the heartless bellow him that was now inspecting the book from before.

Without looking away from his reading, he motioned at the heartless with a hand and shouted down, “I want you to burn that book, and to never remind me that I actually read part of it.” The heartless looked up at him blankly, hardly understanding why his master would need something like this done. “…..Just go!” he shouted again, not at all happy that this damn heartless wouldn’t just follow his damned orders without looking at him and basically asking why it was needed.

It shivered as it sensed Dwayne’s annoyance and ran off with the book, sinking into the ground and disappearing under the doorway with it. Dwayne watched it as it disappeared and sighed; glad to have the damned book out of sight and hopefully out of mind. He continued through the book he was reading now, before returning it and picking up the next one. Where the hell were Ansem’s studies? He must have had some sort of record of being similar to Xaras. Yet all he’d found so far was stories.

If it wasn’t for the fact there might be something of use in here, he’d burn down the entire library and be done with this children’s dribble and nonsense. He was forced to endure this for another hour before putting back the last book on that shelf. He hit his head against the wooden framing of the bookcase, keeping it their as he contemplated this failure of a task. If only his minions could read, he wouldn’t have to be here and doing any of this.

He remained like this, though was jerked back to awareness as he felt something drift into his senses. A heart had been taken…and it hadn’t been by one of his heartless minions either; how interesting. He leaned back and looked down to near the door as a new shadow seeped in from under it. It reformed to make a perfect copy of the recently departed Yuffie, though with the trade mark black form and yellow eyes. He was just about prepared to cover his ears, though stopped and grinned at the shadow.

Heartless couldn’t talk….the damned girl had been silenced, once and for all! He beckoned it forward before sliding down the ladder and moving to greet it. Oh how he loved new heartless minions, especially ones that were strong enough to retain their own forms when moving onto the other side. He patted the heartless girl on the head, and was content enough as it communicated its business of being here. “My newest minion, oh how pleasing it is to have a somewhat competent person in my control.”

He hardly noticed Xaras throw open the door, though acknowledged her briefly with a wave while continuing to study the new heartless. “And why would that be?” he asked absently, as he studied the heartless and its numerous weapons. They were all sharpened to a point, just as he had hoped they would be. Heck, maybe if he worked with her mind and body a bit he might be able to pass off a real Yuffie…oh how much fun that would be!

"Oh Christ," Came the low groan from Xaras, "I thought I killed that annoying brat. Please, PLEASE tell me it CANT talk."

She covered her face as she walked forward, parting her fingers to glimpse at it, as if watching a scary movie. She dropped her hands again, "She never shut UP. Babble babble babble about non-sensical bull that no one ever in a million years is going to care about. And she comes BACK?"

She looked over the heartless, poking at its head, "I mean, she might be a little stronger this way, she was practically a rag doll"

Though the heartless couldn’t blink, it what it would have done as it was poked. It had pulled back its fist in the second that she was poked, though it was caught almost as instantly by Dwayne. He lowered the hand of the heartless, shaking his head so that it knew not to try anything with Xaras. “It can’t talk, at least not yet,” he replied to her questioning, “And this is just what her heart created, so she’s not technically come back either.” And good riddance or he’d send the heartless back where it came from.

He took one of the shuriken from the heartless girl and pricked his finger with it, then turned his finger from its normal to heartless and back again to fix the cut. He flipped it over in his hand and threw it at a wall, where it flew in a perfect line and stuck in deeply, before melting back into darkness and travelling back to rejoin Yuffie. Well, they were well balanced as well as sharp. That was good, and by his guess the girl would be able to throw them easily enough.

Xaras watched this, reaching up to touch the cut on her cheek. Now why couldn't she do -that-? She leaned back against the shelves, watching the small creature.

"So its not like," she contemplated it, "Going to hold a grudge against me for beating the hell out of its original is it? I wasn't exactly neat about it."

“Nah, it doesn’t have any of the memories of the original. A blessing in itself I guess,” he said, blinking at her cut cheek and putting a hand up to touch the cut. His finger changed to its heartless colour again, before he pulled his hand away and it reverted back. It left a small black cover before it melded with her skin and changed to the normal colour. “I prefer my enemies to bleed, so you might be careful with that next time.”

Xaras blinked at him, then reached up to touch her cheek. It was healed. She gave him a small, appreciative smile, "I'll keep that in mind."

She turned then to look around the library, eyes wandering over the books. "So what are you doing in here anyways?"

“Reading…a lot of reading,” he said as he looked at a book he’d randomly acquired somehow and threw it to one side. He sighed and stretched a little before looking about at the book cases he’s already gone through. “Seems to have been wasted though, the owner of the castle doesn’t have any of the documents I was looking for.” Now what could Dwayne do…if only Ansem wasn’t so secretive about his reports.

Xaras wandered around the library slowly, fingers trailing over all the books and items thoughtfully, "Have you looked everywhere in the castle? I mean, what are you looking for exactly? Is it the kind of thing that you wouldn't want to be obvious? Or is it trivial?"

“…It’s not really that important,” he answered as he wandered away from the library. It would probably be better if he didn’t tell her about his attempts at researching what she was. The heartless Yuffie followed him quietly, an act which proved she was a far better ninja then the original. Though that might be cause she can’t talk like the last one…though it seemed to be sending him a lot of messages right now. At least it could be like the original when he managed to get it to speak, encase he needed to cover up her death.

Xaras watched him, then plucked up a book, flipping through the pages. That much time in here, this many books sorted through...
and it wasn't important?

...

Bullllllll

She sat down, and started pulling book after book down, deciding to skim them herself. He mentioned documents. Meaning something researchy looking...

so she'd find everything like that she could.

That'd put a smile on his face right?

Leaving her to her new studies, Dwayne sent his heartless off to search the castle encase their was something big he was missing. Ansem was a secretive guy, but he knew he wouldn’t have gone through live with making some form of report on his discoveries. I mean, he did help to create the heartless as they were now, the fool hadn’t expected such a large increment in heartless though. Or that they had their own ways of going from world to world.
