Eyes speckled with black and brown searched deep into ocean, paws hitting against the broken pebbles and grains of sand were loosing their grip. Sinking further into the deep, black abyss the golden optics blinked suddenly, loosing focus as a roaring swell rose up and engulfed his being. Being strong, and brave, the old creature fell to his stomach, allowing the water to continue rushing over him -- soaking him with the salty sea. He braced himself against the strength of the current, feeling himself being swept away his paws let go of the shaky rocks. Golden eyes closed as quick as they might, keeping the stinging water out from within.
Swept into the angry sea the wolf did not fight back, for in all his years he knew that struggles only led to more pain. His body of brown and tan relaxed, feeling the lapping water against every part of him. Finally the swell began to weaken, and he felt himself being brought towards the surface, and thankful for this the aging male opened his eyes as his head broke the water. Gasping for air his lungs pleaded with the sea, exhaling and inhaling as quick as they could. Eyes darted around franticly, searching for the small narrow strip of land that this male had once been stranded upon. There was no sign of it. Had the sea really swept him off this quickly? Fat chance, no, it couldn’t have. With another quick inhalation of breath the old wolf swung his head around, paws beating back and forth in a struggle to keep his head above the current. He swam onwards with the sea…Garhuad was at its mercy. |
