Mom dotes on Big Band, and I'll listen as well. Besides the established favorites (In The Mood, Woodchopper's Ball, etc.), there are some hidden nuggets I can hear on two radio shows. WREK (91.1 FM, Atlanta) has "The DeSoto Hour" Saturdays at 7 PM Eastern, and KFSD (1450 AM Escondido CA) and KSPA (1510 AM, Ontario CA) has "Big Band Jump" Saturdays at 11 AM Pacific.

My parents were fans of many big bands, and I even liked a few myself. Unfortunately, though, I can't remember which ones.

Whilst on the topic of big bands, was the Lawrence Welk group considered a big band?

If so, I have always loved that music, and still enjoy listening to it.

Lawrence Welk wasn't Big Band as such; it was categorized as "Champagne Music." Rudy Vallee pioneered that genre while Welk made it national with his TV show.
