I have John to thank for this topic idea. Thanks, John. :)
Discuss your memories of the 90's here!
Glad to help you out. The music of the 90's was good and some not so good.
Ahhh...John, I can't wait to hear peoples' views on this topic (90's music), so I created a thread for it in the music section. :)
I found a video on YouTube for 90's toys....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNYXbLfgQiMIt really amazes me that Lite Brite is in there! This I remember playing with as a child in the 60's!
I'm surprised that My Little Pony was on the list. That was in the 80's. Also I'm shocked that Tickle Me Elmo wasn't added.
It's funny.. I was born in '71, so you would imagine that the 90's would be a very defined era for me, but it's not! I can totally go back to the 70's and 80's, in my thoughts, but when I think of the 90's, it's a very vague era with no defined style of its own..
I do remember loads of stuff that happened in my personal life, during the 90's, but if I watch some TV programme featuring 90's music, fashion, etc., I always feel like "oh, that was in the 90's?" Also, if someone was to ask me to list some 90's hits, I probably couldn't think of any. I'd know many, but I couldn't place them to the correct decade.
I think you're right about the 90s, Stello. I was born in '62 so I think it was probably during the early part of that decade that I lost interest to a large degree in what was current in the music charts.
Britpop and grunge threw up one or two good things, though they sounded a lot like what had already gone before, and the rise of the DJs in dance music meant that their music was too anonymous to make much of an impression. Besides, my clubbing days were coming to end by then: the lighting does nothing for you when you're going grey. :(
