The last police car finally drove away, and the still of the night remained for all of two minutes before breaking from an unearthly wretch of the ground itself. It seemed to spit up through the smoldered remains of the old barn, licking rocks and dirt and glass on its way. For a moment it was nothing more than a cloud of dust and glass, and then those particles began to melt together, to form what looked like a person. A few minutes later, standing there, staring forward with dark eyes, the figure was unmistakenably human.

Chase Collins took a step forward and felt the difference immediately. Something was different. Something was wrong.

Reid had taken Tyler home after he had heard from Caleb and knew that everything was as alright as it was going to get. Shaking off sleepiness Reid lay on his bed in the dorm room that he shared with Tyler and stared at the ceiling. They were sleeping the day through because of the night they had and the fact that they could get away with it, but Reid wasn't tired.

Jumping out of bed and pulling on some clothes, Reid grabbed the car keys and rushed outside and peeled out of the driveway like he was being chased. Driving in no particular direction, Reid wasn't surprised when he ended up at the site of Putnam Barn, where the fight had happened with Chase and Caleb. Getting out of the car and walking to the still slightly smoldering building, Reid frowned. Why had he come here? For some reason he felt like there was something here that needed to be found, something important that was calling to him softly.

Looking up after taking a few steps towards the barn, Reid saw him, Chase was alive.

"Shit."

He looked up at Reid with a glare that could have killed, hands held ready to use if he felt the sudden urge. But something was still bothering Chase, the fact that he felt different...he felt less. His senses were dull now, even his eyesight was a bit blurry compaired to the way it had been.

"Has Caleb sent his lacky to clean up his mess?" Chase asked with a slight smirk. This one, he remembered, was fun to mess with. He could almost see the kid's need to use as he stood there.

The minute Chase started mocking him Reid snarled, his upper lip curling in a sneer and his slender hands pulling up to defend himself if he needed. He wasn't as powerful as Caleb, or Chase apparantly, but he wasn't going to let some outsider poke fun at him and think he was better. Because Chase wasn't better than him, Chase didn't even know who he was really and that made Reid better.

"Caleb doesn't need lacky's. And you wouldn't be worth my time even if he did send me."

"Right, right," Chase smiled as he walked slowly towards Reid. "And every time he barks an order and you realize you're his bitch as you're carrying that order out, I bet you tell yourself that over and over again." His smile was now one of pure amusement. It was almost too easy to agitate Reid, but he just couldn't stop himself. "He's the one that tells you not to use, and that must kill you, because you--like me," he pointed to himself, "know what it feels like to truly use power." Sending mixed signals, multiple ideas for him to think on all at once always added to the fun.

"Bored now."

Reid didn't like the talking much, he could hold his own being witty, but when it came right down to it. Well, he really just liked to fight already. Shaking his head and curling his lip back into his trademark sneer Reid pulled his hand back and then thrust it forward, eye's alighting with fire then turning back as a ball of energy sped towards Chase.

He knew that Chase was baiting him, and that he really shouldn't use as much as he did, but it felt so good to let loose with a bit of power once in awhile. Especially if it would shut up jerks like Chase. Reid hadn't gotten to help Caleb and it grated on him that when his friend needed his help, Reid hadn't been able to do anything. Punishing Chase for that sounded good to him, hopefully he wouldn't die attempting it, but that thought never entered his head as it would have been logical for him to be thinking instead of acting. And Reid was an action sort of man.

Chase laughed, a cold, hollow sound that crept from the back of his throat and out into the open air. He'd been waiting for this. It was his favorite move to snag the power and fling it back at them. But when he held his hands out, expecting to catch it and do just that, Chase was very suddenly thrown to the ground with enough force to break at least one of his ribs.

He gasped and struggled to sit up, eyes black but dim as he stared up at Reid, wondering for the slightest of moments if Caleb hadn't just taken on his weaker friend's form. But this wasn't Caleb's way, and Chase knew it.

"What the fuck!" He snapped, jumping to his feet and ignoring the pain of his sore body.

Reid hoped that laugh wasn't the last thing he heard before he died, and his eyes widened when he saw Chase hold his hands out as if to catch the ball of energy. When the other boy was flung off his feet by the energy ball Reid looked down at his own hand in a moment of wide eyed wonder, what had happened?

Once Chase stood up and yelled Reid couldn't help himself, he giggled. Pulling his hand back and thrusting it forward again, Reid let another energy ball fly towards his enemy.

"This is interesting. What happened Chase, gone soft on me?"

He was in shock, complete and utter shock, when that second energy ball hit him. Once back on his feet--and it took a lot of effort to get there--Chase stared down at his hands, his eyes still dark but fading back to their original color without him telling them too. Something was very wrong and he finally knew what it was. He just hoped he was wrong. And there was only one way to test his theory.

"You scrawny little bastard!" Chase snapped, his cool demeaner taken over by frustration as he took a step forward. His eyes flared, then dimmed to black and his glare intensified. There was no more mocking smile, no more amusement in his dark eyes, he was out for blood this time. Chase held his hands out in front of him and attempted to throw as much power at Reid as he could. It came out as a small ball, no larger than the eraser on the end of a pencil.

OOC: I'm the new Reid so I'll pick up.

IC:

A grin was still painted across the blonde's face. The sight of Chase struggling to stand was pure joy to Reid. So far, he was whipping this bastard's ass and it would only get better.

"You scrawny little bastard!"

Reid tilted his head to side slowly, still wearing his trademark grin. Now, this shout from Chase was signaling hatred which made the joy inside Reid bubble more, like an overflowing cauldron.

"Aww, Chase, no hard feelings?"

A slight snicker escaped his lips after his statement. The sight of Chase attempting to create a blast brought a slight wave of nervousness over Reid. As a small blast shot forth from his opponent's hands, he let out a slight laugh. A simple weave to the left avoided the tiny blast. He then glared at Chase and his eyes wiped over with a quick flame pattern before he stomped his foot on the ground, sending forth a wave of energy in an attempt to knock Chase off his already weak legs.

"Lets get this party going."

(( New Chase reporting in! I've got a weird RP style, and I apologize, but I hope it's not too hard to adjust to. =] ))

This was something crazy--something wrong--some sort of black magic-- and Chase didn't like the way things were heading. That feeling, the reassuring prickle in the back of his head he could always count on, the endorphin rush... just wasn’t there.
But the desire hadn’t left him; the craving to use was still strong. And it started to itch.

Chase scowled, more to himself, his circumstance, and leapt backwards, scooting along with the blow so as to lessen it, his lip now slit and bleeding.

But he stayed upright, eyes wide, black, and in shock.
He needed to cool down; things weren't in his favor, and even this trickle of ration could break through his hot-temper.

"I don't think so," He took a step closer to the boy, and another, and another until they were a mere three yards apart. "I think it's a bit past your bedtime, Reid." came the spat reply.

Chase dodged the blast but came out slightly scathed. Reid's eyes glared at him, hatred was in fuming his orbs. This hatred wasn't the birth of his foe dodging the attack but how he was alive. He was certain he heard Caleb say he was incinerated. Chase Collins should not be standing before him.

"I think it's a bit past your bedtime, Reid."

With Chase's taunting words, Reid's once blue eyes glazed over to a dense black. They were a mirror image of Chase's, his hatred fully blooming. It wasn't a surprise Reid was pissed, he was fairly hot headed and anything could set him off, thus proving a problem in some cases.

"You better watch your mouth Chase."

Chase was no more than a few yards in front of him before he decided on a plan. His midnight black eyes shot to the left where he noticed a barrel of hay that hadn't been destroyed and a pitchfork. He then placed his hand out, the pitchfork flew toward his outstretched right hand.

Once he felt the wood in his hand, he snapped it in two with ease and let the blunt end drop before he kicked it toward Chase’s abdomen. He then charged Chase with the bladed end of the weapon in his hand.

It was agreed that, given the circumstances, Chase should have died. Hell, any normal human, even a witch, that had had the number of barrels thrown at him, blasts shot through him, would instantly have no doubt met their maker a long time ago.
But he was special, or lucky as shit. However without his power... or even having it back at this meager level, he could barely move a pin.

So he was trapped, the meters of space between the two not enough space for a fluid escape; his senses were dull; his pulse was racing, and he threw his hands out, concentrating, hoping to slow the weapon, and its weilder, to an avoidable level. However predictably, nothing happened. Chase took the full blow of impact and crashed to the ground, legs giving out beneath him and he fell to a kneel.

"Will you stop it, you lacky!" His fingertips cut into his palm and left little, half-circle cresents of blood behind. He clutched his stomach and shot his gaze aside, gritting his teeth against the pain. "You have your swindled blood, leave it."
The red liquid seeped on the ground, staining his pants.

And it killed him inside to say that.

Caleb couldn't hear much of what they were saying, but as they got closer and closer, he did begin to sense even more the power that Reid was using. It irritated him that Reid would use this kind of power in the middle of the night like this, so soon after...Caleb's eyes caught sight of Chase and his mouth fell open. He was bleeding, wounded terribly, and that meant that Reid had been the one to do it.

Without hesitation, Caleb's eyes went black and he lept from Pogue's bike, landing with almost ferral ease on the ground between Reid and Chase. He looked first at Chase, assuring himself that he wasn't anything to worry about presently, then turned his gaze to Reid and glared.

Caleb's teeth clenched and he threw a warning bolt of energy towards Reid. Not enough to hurt him or even to knock him off of his feet, but enough to shock him awake to his presence and get his damn attention.

"What in the hell were you thinking, Reid!?" Caleb shouted. "No, you know what, I don't care," he added snappishly. "But this is the last time your stupid antics will endanger us!" He started towards Reid, anger flaring in his black eyes.

The minute Caleb leapt from the bike Pogue skidded to a halt and yanked his helmet off and tossed it to the ground. Cursing when his best friend threw a bolt of energy at Reid, another one of his best friends and part of their Covenant, Pogue's eyes flared and then muted black but he surprssed his erdge to use and let his eyes fade back to normal.

"Caleb stop."

Standing in front of Reid and looking at Caleb, spreading his arms wide so that Caleb would hit him if he went after Reid again. Turning his head and looking at Reid, Pogue shook his head and glared at the blonde.

"What where you thinking Reid?"

He wasn't so sure that Chase still wasn't a threat, but if Reid had injured him to the point of bleeding then Pogue knew he was at least weakened. Looking away from Reid and over Caleb's shoulder to where Chase was, Pogue's eyes flared and turned black as he stopped the other boys wound from bleeding as well as binding his hands and feet together so he couldn't run away while Caleb and Reid and Pogue talked. Or faught, Pogue could feel the anger rolling off of Caleb in waves and it made the hair on his arms stand up straight. Walking forward and grabbing Caleb's arms, standing directly in front of his best friend Pogue spoke softly.

"This isn't the way Caleb. Stop using."
