Literacy is the Key:If you're reading this at the moment, you're quite obviously literate. I am aware that literate means having the ability to read and write, both of which I'll assume you possess. I am basing that assumption on the basis that, if you want to role play, you can write as well as read. Bravo for you, you've passed test one. Start making with the Sense:Step two of two, is that you write in a manner that clearly conveys what you want it to, and that you create a post that others can readily respond to. Clarity is key here folks. I don't want to ask you in "Ooc" what on earth you meant by that, or how in the world your character managed to be in seven different rooms at once. I understand that we are fantasy based, I understand that most people think magic doesn't have to make sense. Well, newsflash, it does. Please, just be clear with what you are trying to say, and we'll all get along fine. How in the World do I Respond to That!?:Remember what I said earlier about creating a post that others can readily respond to? Yeah, that's what you need to do in order to have a successful role play. Yes, I am asking you to interact with the other characters. No, you cannot go hide in your corner and cry about it. It just makes life easier if you interact with the others. I mean, I know how much you adore being antisocial, but seriously, role plays are not the place for that stuff. Also, don't ignore people. It's not cool. Makes them feel left out. Even if your character wouldn't respond to them anyway, at least mention why your character thinks they're worth less than dirt. Detail; the Right Amount:Speaking of detail, it is another thing which separates amateurs from real writers. Metaphors, similes, irony, even clichés help beautify writing – but verbosity makes writing dull and overdone, like a meat left on the grill for too long, so to speak; no one wants to eat if after a while. Just like with writing – if something is plumped up with extra words (especially if the words are not even in their proper usage) it becomes a nuisance to read through and tire to reply to.) Ex.; The boy looked at the girl and frowned. = BORING. The boy lifted his gaze from the book to peer intently at the girl, a frown tilting his lips downward = Much better imagery. The undersized and gaunt boy slowly and hesitantly pulled his big, bold, blue eyes from the tattered remains of a page to stare ominously and intensely at the frightened, sloe-eyed girl. = a bit much, but I can picture it in my head. Understand? You Did WHAT!?:God modeling, power playing, and auto hitting are bad business. Leave that sort of thing to the mafia. We don't do that here, and if you're caught doing any of those three things, than you're going to be sleeping with the fishies if you know what I mean. Pure and Simple, You're Not God:God Modeling is a pretty simple thing to avoid. All you have to do is post reasonable actions for your character alone. The key words here being “reasonable”, and “your character alone”. Chopping your neighbor in half is not a reasonable action, nor is saying that they fell to the floor instantly dead. Reasonable actions are often defined as something a normal person would be able to do. For example, it is reasonable for a person to dodge a punch or two, but it is not reasonable for the to dodge every shot thrown their way, while still attacking their opponent. Essentially, god modeling is creating an insanely powerful character, or controlling other people's characters. You have to be very careful not to control other characters. You are allowed to say that your character threw a punch at someone, but you can't say that your character punched someone. Something as simple as word choice can and will change an acceptable post into minor god-moding, so be especially vigilant when RPing a battle scene! It's like a Bad Zombie Movie!:Let's set two things straight now. If your character gets into a fight, they are going to get hurt or they are going to run away. It's as simple as that. When you auto-hit you always hit. It's a little like god modeling, only more obsessive on the offense than the auto-dodging stuff that falls under that category. Also, watch out for battling Stus, a character who has perfect aim, never misses, never gets hit or hurt, ect. This is also a form of god modeling, but, if you're stupid enough to make one, we'll probably catch the profile. OMG I am so like...PERFECT!:Speaking of Mary Sues and Gary Stues, let's get down to the nuts and bolts of these, hmmm? Now, these little buggers are the “perfect” character. They're incredibly beautiful, can do everything better than everyone else, and they are like Kirk, only worse in the opposite sex department. Simply said, don't make them. If your character is a Stu, than we'll be glad to inform you. Ahhh! My Eyes!:While romance is allowed, anything above a PG-13 rating needs to be taken to a private place. By "Private", we mean you MUST label your thread with: "M" - Mature PG-13 - Minor Romance Kissing is fine, of course; if there’s a scene you deem necessary, do something like a fade-to-black, only implying what happened. I don’t want to know the details, unless I know that they are there in the first place. Need I mention that there may be younger eyes doting upon these boards? Inflexibility is Bad:I reserve the right to change, alter, delete, omit, and in every other way, tamper with the rules as I see fit. Please do check them regularly.

Jack Adlai Cinead Character Spotlight
Biography | Relations
"I love Jack, and I've been rooting for him to win featured character for what seems like forever, but either I haven't been shouting loud enough, or my reasons make about as much sense as he does. Perhaps the most colorful character in all of Invoria, Jack Cinead is loads of fun, and role played masterfully. You're never quite sure what to expect from him, but you know it's going to turn out to be interesting. Fascinating to follow, and involved in some of the most gripping and action packed plots, Jack is the man!" ~Silv
"Cops and Robbers" - The Hoosiers Theme Spotlight
"If Invoria turned into a musical (now there's a strange thought to consider xD) I'm pretty sure this song would be in there somewhere. Jack's one of the few characters I can see leading a musical number, but that's really besides the point. I think this song describes Jack relationship with authority perfectly. I love how it alternates between "if" we catch a criminal, and 'when' we catch a criminal, which makes clear the unstable nature of a life of crime. I also love how the upbeatness of the song sort of betrays the darkness of the lyrics. The song just makes me think Jack, and not just Jack, but how he views the world of Invoria and his experience. I think it's just awesome." ~Silv
Why you will not (>Survive<) Thread Spotlight
"Benny is one of my favorite characters and to see her frank personality butt up against Nadira's cultured one makes for a good show. Plus you can't beat the Orc accent - it's the best! All in all a very unorthodox thread between two extremely different characters but a very good read." ~Jackie
Konstantin and Cadence Couple Spotlight
His | X | His
"If I go too far into describing why I love this pairing, I’m certain I’ll turn into a screeching fan-girl. If it possible for two people to be so incompatible and yet so obviously made for each other? The way the Fish’s Cade’s arrogance bounces off Konstantin’s strong will is almost as glitteringly awesome as the northern lights. Also I’m dying to know—who is the dominant one?" ~OI
