◊WEAKNESSES◊

Beauty— If there’s anything that could distract such a career-minded woman like Tynthe, then it’s beauty. Be it pretty women, gorgeous landscapes, or priceless art, she cannot help put loose her focus when confronted with loveliness. She tries to avoid lovely things when in the public eye for that exact same reason, but of course no one can ever escape them completely. For instance, if she holds a meeting with a rival asylum, and they bring along their most attractive secretary…

Greed— You’d think that a woman as ancient as Tynthe would have learned, by now, that money is not God. If she knows, then by her actions she doesn’t seem to care. Being richer than someone else is a wonderful feeling indeed, and of course it’s needed to by the exquisite clothes that she adores so much. While not exactly miserly, Tynthe is nonetheless a bit hesitant to spend her hard-earned capital on people other than herself.

Severity— Ever since losing Phila, Tynthe has gotten steadily colder and colder. She’s lost all stock in emotions, so what else has she to bank on but chilly efficiency? She tries to be as warm as possible to those who she might gain something from, but to those who are of no use to her she’s as impassive as granite. For all that she’s a phenomenal businesswoman, she can’t keep a true friend if her life depended on it.

◊STRENGTHS◊

Wisdom— Tynthe can’t claim to be the oldest or cleverest being to ever walk Invoria, but it’d be a lie to say she hasn’t gained something from her very long life. She has been around long enough to see how radically different the young are from the old, and how rashly the former can act. She will give advice where advice is needed, but it’s up to the receiver what to do with it. If they don’t take it, so go the worst for them…

Fortitude— This nymph didn’t get to be one of Invoria’s single most successful businesswomen by having a limp spine—it took more courage and determination to reach the station she’s in now than it would for a war hero to rush into a losing battle. The average man has no hope of frightening her—just because she has no royal blood doesn’t mean she’s not someone’s Queen. Tynthe’s weathered through more than 300 years of cruelty…and, as the saying goes, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger…

Charisma— Tynthe has a way with words, and even her enemies will have to admit it. She can charm a rival asylum into a merger, coax the finest fabric out of a penny-pinching tailor for minimal price, and calm down a raging lunatic with just a flash of her eyes and a smooth brush of her magical voice. Even if she doesn’t have reason on her side (and she usually does) it’s remarkably easy to cajole others into doing what she wants to do. She believes that she can soften even the most determined minds given the right amount of time…in fact she has yet to meet the mortal who can resist her cold logic.

◊PHYSICAL APPEARANCE◊
    PLAY BY: Zooey Deschanel
    EYE COLOR: Gray-blue
HAIR COLOR: Dark brown (black when wet)
    HEIGHT: 5’10
    WEIGHT: 138 lbs.
    OVERALL APPEARANCE:

One of the single most aggravating things about being immortal—and anyone over 250 will agree—is consistently being thought younger than you are. Even with her growing notoriety, people still have trouble believing that she’s in her late 300’s and not in her early twenties…at least when first meeting her. As they grow to know Tynthe as she is, it becomes apparent that her face is the only young thing about her. It’s an attractive face, as faces go; oval-shaped, finely sculpted, with a high forehead. There are no wrinkles, no blemishes, and no scars. Tynthe doesn’t claim beauty, and neither does she strive for it.

The make-up that she wears—for she does wear a lot of it—is meant to add years to her damnably youthful face, not to increase any potential loveliness. Aside from clothes, she spends more money on face products than anything else. Years of practice have made her a veritable mistress of applying rogue. Dark eyeshadow conceals the absence of wrinkles; red lips distract the eyes from her lineless cheeks. She keeps her eyebrows in a perfectly plucked arch, and are a few shades darker than the rest of her hair. Despite all her efforts, Tynthe could never pass herself off as any older than thirty.

Five feet ten inches is tall for a woman, considering, but Tynthe enjoys looking down on others so much she often does everything possible to increase her height. Given the right pair of shoes and an erect posture, she can stand as tall as 6’1 if she so chooses. She barely even feels the pain of high-heels anymore, and has perfected the art of walking normally with those monstrosities strapped to her feet. Why, she can even risk running in them! In case you’re wondering, she wears a size 7 ½ --curiously small and dainty for a woman of such height.

Tynthe was once a selkie, so like many selkies she has very dark, silky brown hair. It can be any style or any length she wants it to be…naturally, however, it’s wavy and falls to just past her shoulders. She loves the way it feels against her cheeks, and so only sparingly puts it up. Her eyes are, while not exactly as traditionally selkie as her hair, nonetheless characteristic of her family. They’re pale gray-blue, cold and even soulless at times. They aren’t actually her favorite feature.

She dresses like many aristocrats wish they could dress—finely, but unobstructed by social boundaries. While Tynthe is certainly no stranger to low-cut tops and knee-exposing skirts, all her apparel is as elegant as (if not even more elegant than) the majority of the gentry. She loves clothes and is absolutely ruthless when it comes to hiring the best tailor and buying the most luxurious cloth. She does not buy solely from the Mysticals; the Hydriads cannot boast of having her business all to themselves. Her taste is singularly her own, and the styles of each country influence her equally. Looking wonderful in her clothes (and looking wonderful in general, for that matter) is not a talent; it is a hard-earned right.

◊PERSONALITY◊
    PERSONALITY:

The majority of Invoria will go their entire life without ever meeting a nymph; therefore they have very few preconceived notions of how these immortal women should act. Therefore, they cannot grasp just how radically different Tynthe is from the rest of her kind. She has never set foot inside the Valley of Nymphs; the life of solitude so many others have chosen does not tempt her. She likes people too much to isolate herself from them—not because she’s a friendly woman but because they fascinate her. There is no painting more complex than the mortal mind, Tynthe believes, and she always jumps at the chance to psychoanalyze anyone with a brain in their head. Determining how her fellow cognizant beings tick is a wonderful pastime…and something one just couldn’t do while holed up in a dank, ancient cave.

For all that she might love their minds, Tynthe dislikes most men…and, honestly, they’re not too fond of her either. She treats everyone of the male gender with the same reserved coldness, at least if there’s not something she can gain from treating them kindly. And it’s not just adult men, either—teenagers and young boys try her nerves just as much as their grown counterparts. She surrounds herself with women, seeing them as the fairer sex in more ways than one. She trusts them almost just by dint of them being female; a weakness of hers, as it were. The only man she’ll ever truly respect, Tynthe says, is God.

Tynthe has a certain standard of living that, and she hasn’t changed it for nearly three hundred years. She’s not as order-crazy as her underlings make her out to be, but she does have an aversion to change. She expects her words to be respected, her presence to be noted…such things she sees as rights, and hard-earned rights at that. If you don’t show the proper amount of respect, pray that God (or Tynthe) is merciful and allows you to survive the encounter.

She is not a violent woman, but neither is she a peaceful one. She exudes force where force is due…meaning that she’ll blow your brains out only when you’ve gone and done something that truly deserves such a dreadful punishment. Nymphs are immortal, yes, but there’s yet to be a sane being who can completely throw away the need for self-preservation. Tynthe lends her respect to monarchs and great warriors if they’ve earned it and mute tolerance if they haven’t. It wouldn’t due to have anyone more powerful than herself angry with her—she is under no delusion that she is anything but a very successful businesswoman.

Chaos has reigned on Invoria for years. Many have died of battle, and even more have died of starvation. Every person of every walk of life is starting to feel a sort of emptiness inside themselves, like hunger. They hunger for peace, for knowing their children are safe, for the ability to close their eyes without waking in the grip of a night terror. The war has gotten such that no one really knows who started it anymore. Most are just fighting to protect themselves, or for revenge, or for the pride of their race. Many more are tired of the war, and would jump at the chance to have it come to an end.

That end may be coming sooner than we all think. There are many plots to stop the war, and just as many to continue it. Factions fight against factions in a battle of wits, heart, and power. One man, cannot win a war, however, and one race cannot rule over all. No matter how much they think that they can.

Where will you be in the deciding battles? What is your role to play in the world of Invoria?

Who will you place your faith in?

QUOTATIONS :
"The tragedy of war is that it uses man's best to do man's worst."
~ Henry Fosdick

"It is forbidden to kill; therefore all murderers are punished unless they kill in large numbers and to the sound of trumpets."
~ Voltaire

"Men are at war with each other because each man is at war with himself."
~ Francis Meehan

Jack Adlai Cinead
Character Spotlight

Biography | Relations
"I love Jack, and I've been rooting for him to win featured character for what seems like forever, but either I haven't been shouting loud enough, or my reasons make about as much sense as he does. Perhaps the most colorful character in all of Invoria, Jack Cinead is loads of fun, and role played masterfully. You're never quite sure what to expect from him, but you know it's going to turn out to be interesting. Fascinating to follow, and involved in some of the most gripping and action packed plots, Jack is the man!" ~Silv

"Cops and Robbers" - The Hoosiers
Theme Spotlight

"If Invoria turned into a musical (now there's a strange thought to consider xD) I'm pretty sure this song would be in there somewhere. Jack's one of the few characters I can see leading a musical number, but that's really besides the point. I think this song describes Jack relationship with authority perfectly. I love how it alternates between "if" we catch a criminal, and 'when' we catch a criminal, which makes clear the unstable nature of a life of crime. I also love how the upbeatness of the song sort of betrays the darkness of the lyrics. The song just makes me think Jack, and not just Jack, but how he views the world of Invoria and his experience. I think it's just awesome." ~Silv

Why you will not (>Survive<)
Thread Spotlight

"Benny is one of my favorite characters and to see her frank personality butt up against Nadira's cultured one makes for a good show. Plus you can't beat the Orc accent - it's the best! All in all a very unorthodox thread between two extremely different characters but a very good read." ~Jackie

Konstantin and Cadence
Couple Spotlight

His | X | His
"If I go too far into describing why I love this pairing, I’m certain I’ll turn into a screeching fan-girl. If it possible for two people to be so incompatible and yet so obviously made for each other? The way the Fish’s Cade’s arrogance bounces off Konstantin’s strong will is almost as glitteringly awesome as the northern lights. Also I’m dying to know—who is the dominant one?" ~OI
