Remy LeBeau stretched his arms as he climbed out of his bed. It might have been one o’ clock in the afternoon, but he didn’t care. This was morning to him. He scratched his head and yawned again as he looked around and tried to find some clothes to throw on. He wondered whether he should have a shower first. So he figured he might as well. So after running out for a quick shower, Remy returned after drying himself off. He grabbed a pair of jeans, a shirt, and all the other stuff he’d need for the day, and threw them all on. He shoved his curtains away to see the sky. There may have been a large feud between the humans and the mutants, but that never spoiled the weather. Remy wasn’t particularly fussy about the weather, but he didn’t really mind whether it was raining or not. Going out in the rain just meant there were less people around, but more people rushing.

Looking around his room, Remy felt like going into the grounds and using a tree as a little target practise for the morning. Well – afternoon. To Remy, it was morning. To everyone else, the day was half-over. He wasn’t sure where anyone was. So by going out into the garden and being the one throwing cards at a tree at high speeds, he was sure someone would recognize that it was him. Grabbing the deck of fifty-two cards, Remy stuck them in the back pocket of his jeans and started walking down the hallway. People passed by him – one kid passed through him – and people passed him without such as a glance. Some said hello, some mumbled to their friends, others just looked at his eyes as if they were the most insane thing around these parts. If Remy weren’t still tired from just having woken up, he would’ve said something to any of those kids who looked at him.

Gambit walked out into the grounds of the mansion and toward the very back. He sat down on the grass, facing a tree, and then took the deck of cards out of his back pocket. He held the deck in his hand, and began to shuffle the deck in various manners – most of which were those you wouldn’t even see in Las Vegas casinos. Remy developed his own ways of shuffling, but he always liked to show off, even when no one was around. He pulled the card off of the top of the deck and then held it between his fingers as he looked around. The grounds weren’t in a good condition. But Remy still pushed his way through the tall grass and moved to the very back of the garden, where the plants weren’t so wild. He would’ve thought that of all the powers around this place, someone would be able to sort out these damn plants. He looked at the tree and held the card between his fingers and it began to glow a neon pink. Throwing the card upward, the card sliced straight through a large branch and it landed beside Remy. Technically, he was gardening.

"Well isn't this is a pretty site, Remy doin some gardening" Rogue was behind the man trying not to laugh out loud. This was indeed a rare site, who would of guessed Remy had such a green thumb. "Yer always such a card aren't ya?" Rogue walked over and puckered a kiss on the mans cheek. Even though the man wasn't actually doing any planting, he did manage to cut down a tree branch, and that was enough to convince Rogue.

"Such a pretty day it is." Rogue tilted her head up and closed her eyes. She allowed the soft somber wind to blow on her face, which blew her hair in a majestic way. Such a beauty was she, and strong to. If Remy even thought of doing something bad she would put him in his place.

The sun shined brightly and the wind kept itself up. Such a tranquil and peacful moment it was. This was the perfect day for a good atmosphere, considering her day went so horrible. Earlier on today Rogue had a nasty encounter with the floor. Even though she could fly she still was somewhat human. All day shes been tripping all over stuff. It got her thinking that maybe shes been relying on her flight abilites to much, and that this is some weird payback or something. So with that she decided to lay low on the flying for a bit and commit to doing things the old fashioned way, no matter how much she hated it.

Rogue opened her eyes and looked back down at Remy. "Well what ya gonna do today, plant all day?" She did like seeing a softer side of Gambit, but she was bored and needed someone fun to hang out with. Her day was bad as is and she didn't want to be seen hanging out with a momma's boy. "Well im bored hun so letes go out a do somethin."

Remy didn’t care much for that tree. Even though he’d originally been planning to just throw a few cards into the trunk, the branch above him was blocking out the sun, and so that had been the one he cut down. Of course, a regular card wouldn’t have done such damage. This was one of the ways Remy couldn’t exactly remember using his power for before. But as he looked over at the tree in question, he could still see several holes in it where he’d thrown cards before. Marks left in there from Remy’s frequent practise. And so perhaps because of the fact that this was so frequent was why Rogue had managed to find him so easily amongst the tall grasses. Remy looked up at her and grinned, mumbling in his usual fashion with his thick Cajun accent to boot, “Bonjour chérie.”

As he looked up at Rogue, she was upside-down from his point of view. She seemed to be in the mindset that Remy had some hidden gardening passion, and yet the simple task of throwing a card at a tree and cutting it down was far from gardening and more like mindless vandalism. But Remy didn’t care. He was pleased to see Rogue – albeit upside-down – no matter what the situation may have been. Even if there was a fifty-foot Sentinel behind her, he’d still be glad she was there. Remy threw a card up into the air and caught it between his two fingers as Rogue asked him what he was going to be doing all day and he rolled over on his stomach before pushing himself up to his feet. “Course I ain’t gonna garden all day. Now I got you, I don’t need nothin’ else.”

Remy laughed as he scratched his un-shaven chin and looked down the short distance to Rogue. “Though I just woke up, so maybe tryin’ to be too active might just send me back t’sleep.” Despite his “super-human” stamina, Remy was still a man, and a superbly lazy one sometimes. He liked to sleep, but often he just wasn’t tired enough to appreciate it. Most people like the challenge of staying awake the whole night, but to Remy, it’s nothing. He can stay awake for two days before starting to feel tired. Well, depending on what he’d done in the day. Just being normal – or as normal as possible – would let him stay up for a few days. If he had to do some training then he’d probably be just as tired as anyone else. It still was pretty tiring to do all that.

Often wondering what it would be like to be a telepath, Remy looked down at Rogue and tried to think of what could have been going through her head. She’d just stumbled across him sitting in the garden by himself, cutting down some trees. Other than the fact that he had cut it down with a playing card, it was still odd for someone like Remy to be doing so, but he’d somehow forgotten to grab his cigarettes. If he had them, he would’ve probably lit one up now. Yet he had none, and so he would stick with his other drug for now: Rogue. “So what’s bringin’ you out here mon amour?”

What a stupid question. She already told him she was looking for someone to do something with, and in fact she wanted to do something with Remy today. "I told ya hun I wanted to do something fun. I mean the other X-Men are not half as fun as you are, on a good day." She smiled sweetly trying to act convincing. "You can get on ma nerves sometimes sugah but your good and sweet." She walked closer to Gambit and eyed him deeply and affectionatly.

Seeing this side of Remy got Rogue in somewhat of a better mood. She was so embarrased for him that ultimatly he cheered her up. "All ya need now is one of those funny hats, maybe with a flower on it..." She bolted out laughing. Remy new she was kidding, he had to know. Affectionatly he could probably sense that Rogue was in a good mood. If he knew what was good for him he'd not want to test her patience, as of now though she wouldn' hurt him. But that doesn't mean she wouldn't later on.

Rogue had to snap herself out of the thought of Remy wearing a frilly hat and come back down to Earth. "Hey I have a nice idea, why not we go visit Professor Xavier. I havent seen him in awhile, since the last time atleast." Rogue had a deep relationship with Xavier, so when word of him getting assasinated she was heartstrucken and didn't know how to react. She dind't speak to anyone for days. She had to remind herself every so often that it wasn't a dream and that it had really happened. At first she was reluqtant to join back up with the X-Men, espcecially after hearing that Magneto was captured and sent to Genosha. But she promised herself that she would try and fight for Xavier's dream, a dream that one day mutants and humans could co-exist as one.

Remy stretched his arms above his head, feeling the bones aching. Maybe if he’d been up longer, he wouldn’t be as tired. Or even if he had eaten something before deciding to come out and use his power a little. Remy dropped his arms back by his side and scratched at the dark gloves he regularly wore. He looked down at Rogue and grinned, his red eyes staring at her. “Well I ain’t plannin’ on doin’ nothin’ all day. But now you’re here, I figure we can go ‘head now and think about what possible fun things we could do.” Remy was up for doing anything. With Rogue around, he didn’t care what he’d be doing, so long as they had something to do together. Remy would’ve probably slept all day long if he had the choice, but he’d decided to get up just because he’d have a sore ass if he stayed in bed any longer. He needed a new mattress, to be honest.

Not particularly amused at the thought of himself being in a funny hat with a flower on, he just laughed at the fact that Rogue was laughing. A hat wouldn’t particularly help Remy look good. Especially not one with a flower in it. He imagined himself in the hat in question and he shook his head. “Perhaps I should just stick t’being hatless fer now, mon cher.” He rarely wore hats as things were, unless he wore a baseball cap to pull down to cover his eyes from plain sight. He always wondered what others thought when they saw his eyes. People around here were different, but most didn’t have things they couldn’t stop. Rogue might have done what she did whenever she touched someone, but she was perfectly normal when not touching someone. Remy’s eyes were a permanent thing, and had been since his birth.

As the name Xavier was mentioned, Remy frowned a little. He didn’t particularly know the professor well, but it wasn’t as if Gambit couldn’t acknowledge everything he’d done for him. Gambit didn’t ask for all of this. A place to live, sleep, eat, meet an amazing girl. The professor had given Remy this in return for one thing: trying to create an equality between mutants and humans by making sure things didn’t get too out of hand; by being a part of the X-men and helping to make sure that the earth was safe. Remy had these gifts. He could do things that normal people couldn’t. So it was only fair that he tried to help out in return for everything the professor did. “If that’s what y’all really wantsa do then it’s fine by me.” Remy smiled down at Rogue again. He wasn’t exactly fine with the whole concept of the professor’s death, but clearly if Rogue could handle it enough to go visit him, he was fine.

So with that Rogue leaded the way to the Memorial Gardens, which is where Professor Xavier was barried. Rogue grasped Gambits hands, hands warm to the touch. "Your hands are so warm Remy, why is that?" She asked. I hope he wasn't nervious, or maybe it was just sweat from all the "HARDWORK" he was doing. Cutting a treebranch off can take alot out of a guy.

After a few good minuets they finally made it to the Memorial Garden. Standing before Rogue was a huge statue of Professor Xavier. Thank god the statue was still intact even after the destruction of the X-Mansion. "Oh Professor, were trying to hard to keep a'r heads above water. We need you now."

Remembering back, Rogue could remember the first time she was recruited to the X-Men. It was a time when she was on the Brotherhood team and was working with Mystique, who she hadn't known was her. Rogue had commited a horrible act by absorbing, Ms. Marvels powers. She not knowing what would happen if she held on long enough permenantly absorbed Ms. Marvels powers.

Rogue felt so bad afterwards that she quit Mystique's team and was confronted by Professor Xavier who told her he could help her. She refused the first time, but gave way eventually. She wanted to learn how to control her powers so she never committed the same act as she did last time.

"Come in X-Men. Mystique and Spiral are attempting a bank heist. I walked in, I saw many dead police officers. They have turned a bank into a funeral. They are formidable opponents, I have done my best to keep them from, but I am out numbered and I am hurt. Spiral has somehow taken my abilities. My only hope is for one of you to hear my call. It won't take them long to realize I have this communicator for a reason. They are attacking again. Help!"

Gambit wasn’t particularly happy about going to visit a memorial of someone. It just made you think about the times before they were gone. But he wasn’t the type to break down in tears because of such a thing; he was the type of person to stand watching silently as others reacted. Of course, he wasn’t emotionally dead, but he just preferred keeping his thoughts in his own head instead of expressing them to others in said situations. Remy looked down at his hand as Rogue slid her fingers between his and he laughed quietly as she asked why his hands were warm. As he squeezed her hand, he mumbled to her, “They’s warm ‘cause they’s warm, mon cher.” Remy hadn’t noticed whether his hands were hot. Were they hotter than normal? He wasn’t too sure. He just laughed at Rogue still.

After the short, partially quiet walk, they arrived at the memorial of the Professor. Gambit stood quietly as Rogue began speaking to the memorial. The pair of them stood in silence for a few seconds in front of the Professor’s memorial, and Remy felt as though he should’ve said something. But what could he say? It wasn’t exactly an opportune moment to think of something to say to make her laugh. And making Rogue laugh was one of the main things his sentences did these days. Or he at least tried to make her laugh with them.

Taking his hand away from hers, Gambit wrapped his arm around Rogue’s waist and hugged her a little. Of course a lot of people in the mansion were close to the professor, but Rogue was a little closer than most. She seemed to be hurt a lot more than the others, and that was probably another reason why Remy was trying to say something, yet just rejecting everything his head thought of. He wanted to say something, after all, but he didn’t want to say something that could’ve upset her.

Remy looked down at Rogue and mumbled once again. “Y’know that he-“ And when he finally thought of something to say, he was cut off. The voice of Nightcrawler came from nowhere – which was entirely possibly with that guy – but then Gambit realised that he wasn’t hidden up a tree or behind the memorial when he said he was in the bank. Remy frowned slightly in confusion and then looked down at Rogue. “I guess he was talking to us?”

"Nightcrawler needs help! Mystiques involved as well, i'll be her to a pulp." Even though the girl said she was going to not fly she went against her best judgment. Flying off from the ground, Rogue grabbed Gambits arm and headed towards where the distress call was being made, The New York City Bank.

"Remy we'll come back to the garden when we get done with beating Spiral and Mystique." Since when did they start working together? Rogue thought. It perplexed her for awhile. I mean she couldn't understand why someone like Spiral would want to work with such a bitch like Mystique. Didn't Spiral have androids for her lackies? Not dummies.
