Maybe she will break her records ^_^

Which cat? What? Huh?

Swimming like a cat, similar to the dog-swimming-thingie. I guess it's just a made up thing, not a real swimming style

Had a scare today. We were at a Swim Comp in the north of the city at one of the biggest swim centres in the state. My daughter was with her friends at the back of the grandstand near the surrounding glass walls. I knew a weather front was coming through, but never did anyone expect what happened next. My daughter was standing beside her friend Bradley and his dad when 4 or 5 of the glass walls behind them collapsed inward, being pushed but what we expect were 150km/h winds. Bradleys dad (Bruce) spun around and put his hands up to stop them landing on my daughter and his son, he yelled for them to run. I was only a few metres away and got up and grabbed the kids by the arm and dragged them out of harms way. Several other men ran forward, risking their lives as more panels began to fall inward, glass was breaking and kids were screaming. I saw a boy standing between two panels screaming and I grabbed him as his mother came up and threw her arms around him. He was hysterical. I then told the kids to get off the grandstand, not to run just to walk down the far stairs and get out of harms way. My husband by this stage had grabbed our son and was hurding the kids in teh team down in an orderly fashion. I turned to help my mum who has a very bad knee and was frantically gathering our gear and trying to go down the stairs. Meanwhile the men were still struggling to push the broken glass panels outward, eventually they got them out and pushed them onto the lawn outside. The rain and wind were whipping in as I helped my mum down the stairs to join my family. Bruce, Bradleys dad, is a hero, saved the kids. If the panels had landed on them it would have smashed and hurt them badly, possibly killed any of them. Disturbing to say the least. Till that point, the swim comps had been doing well, my daughter had swum two races and done very good times on both.

Yeah, she did good times.

Today her coach told me not to bring her to squads anymore, gave me details of 'Development Team'. Four sessions for sure, possibly five, a week and longer sessions, 90 mins and 2 hours......Happy but daunted......

She was! Very! About her first training session for sure! We got there, Mum having dragged herself from her sick bed to take her, and she swam really well!! The new senior coach took note and I noticed he put her ahead of some of the other kids as she was obviously faster. Then he pulled two girls from the pool and gave them a lecture. I had no idea what about. Then after the session my daughter comes from teh change rooms (first out, very unusual) visibly upset and a red mark on her cheek. I didnt ask. We got in the car and on the way home she told me. The girls who'd be pulled had complained about her being put in front of them but the coach told them off for not being team players and to accept she was faster. So in the change rooms, one of them PUNCHED her in the face!! OMG! Was I livid?!? I ask you?!??! I am speaking to the coach tomorrow, and I will not be letting her in the change rooms alone anymore. All because she was faster. This girl has been in seniors for 5 months and my daughter is better than her after one session, she obviously couldnt handle it. :( Husband and I are discussing changing clubs now, heartbreaking for her, as this is where she won her scholarship, but I wont tolerate physical violence. sighs

Make sure the coach knows before pulling her from the club. I'm sure they have rules regarding something along these lines, and since she came directly out, I assume that they are not aware of what transpired. The other kids involved are just going to have to learn to deal with it.

Well, its been a while, but shes gotten faster and better.

50m Freestyle in 36 seconds.
50m Backstroke in 46 seconds
50m Breaststroke in 47 seconds
50m Butterfly in 41 seconds

Her coach says shes got what it takes physically and mentally, and its started. The morning trainings have too.

(Posted Image)
Here she is with her relay team (one missing) they won bronze

(Posted Image)
here she is with her first individual medal, another bronze.

Her coach says she is only going to get faster, says I will see it over the next 12 months.....scary.

Those times say nothing to me but I guess she'd swim circles around me - even if I was going with a motorboat or something

My husband swims and wont even get in teh pool with her anymore, says she will utterly humiliate him. Shes fast, not fast enough yet, but fast. She sat in front of the TV during the Australian Olympic Trials noting down their times, putting them on one side of page, and her times on the other...then ruled 4 columns and averaged out how many seconds per year she will have to lose to make Olympic times. Shes 11 years old!! That will make her 15 in 2012, London.
