Ignis Ardens, what have they done to you!
This thread started out as a sensible, intellectual discussion of an interesting topic. With every new page it plumbs new depths...!

Oh yes, thanks for reminding me, Gregorio... Would any of the menfolk who haven't already done so, like to vote in this poll, and share your stories on the subject?!

Don't be silly, Berengaria! Of course he can't...

I know. I just wanted to corner him on that, and it seemed to work, as he said:

Looking for clear specific teachings is asking to prove a negative in most instances, because we are dealing with ethics in theory and practice here, which is the role of casuistry. Circumstances in individual cases vary widely, so we need to judge them on a case by case basis.

That whole post of mine was somewhat tongue-in-cheek, because we had already gone over the doctrine, early in the thread, at least about tyrannicide, which he's been ignoring throughout the thread. Although you're right - I don't know why any of us bother; as you said somewhere once I think, bad for the blood pressure or something....

I dunno. Ignoring all the abuse and name-calling in this thread, I think that both sides have made good cases. But then I'm a who knows nothing about history. But, disagree violently, as they do, to me, it seems that Pilgrim, QVP, et al, and PeterII are all intelligent and know a lot!

That is what happens when trolls are allowed on a forum or people feed them by responding, rather than ignoring them.
But it is very difficult not to respond in order to correct the nonsense of a troll. And that is just what the troll wants.
When the educational value of a thread is hidden amongst a plethora of irrelevant and unedifying mush, due to a troll being allowed to run amok, the thread becomes pretty worthless.
Reasoned arguments, for or against, backed up by facts and, particularly, Catholic doctrine, theology or philosophy are always welcome. Everyone learns something.
Constant lack of reasoned argument, lack of sourced and referenced facts when appropriate, the presentation of deceit and lies, and a distinct policy of ad hominem attacks and calumnies, are not acceptable and must end in a ban (after due warning) if Ignis wants to be taken seriously as a worthwhile educational Catholic discussion forum.

And where are the official condemnations of Von Stauffenberg? Your little game can be played both ways. Instead there are numerous Catholic publications praising him and evidence of complicity from German Bishops with the German Resistance during his time. You appear to be completely ignorant of casuistry and its role in moral theology.
