Title: UTI

Laboure - June 16, 2012 06:28 PM (GMT)
Howdy!

Anyone here ever have a severe UTI? If so, other than going to the emergency room, may I ask what you did to get rid of it?

:ty:

This will brighten Clare's day to see me venturing out of the main foxhole!

A doctor once told me that if you drink a lot of cranberry juice it can increase the acidity of the water you pass which can then get rid of an infection. But I think you need to do this straight away. Having said that cranberry juice is good anyway. I like cranberry and raspberry myself.

Hope you feel better soon Laboure!

Thanks, Sunny! I got less than two hours of sleep last night, but am doing much better today. I hate hospitals (people come out worse than when they went in) and do not trust anyone in the medical profession these days. Plus, I understand that a lot of what they prescribe for this sort of thing only makes matters worse. If I can avoid having to see a doctor, I would welcome it. On the other hand, I hear horror stories of the infection going into the kidneys.

I've not had a severe one, as far as I recall. I think I may have had a mild one or two, and I probably went the antibiotics route. I can't really remember.

Other than that, as Sunny mentions, cranberry juice always seems to be recommended for that kind of thing.

I don't want to chase everyone away from this thread but, Labore, I've never come across a single internal bug that can tolerate garlic and rosemary EATEN raw.

For topical (external) maladies Aloe Vera is a pretty universal remedy.

I agree with all the above remedies, but
if the symptoms don't improve after 24 hours or get worse, if blood is present in the urine or if symptoms are accompanied by fever, loin pain or lower backache, then get thee to a doctor.

She does, doesn't she? That was my first clue in the early 1980's that this alleged apparition was (and still is) a complete fraud.
