Title: online Mornington Crescent
Description: (a really fun game - come and see!)

MORNINGTON CRESCENT
OK folks, before we get started, let me just establish only one important ground rule.
For those who aren't aware of the rules for Mornington Crescent or how it works, to get the most fun out of it, it's best to pick it up as you go along.
So can I suggest:
1. Those of you who have played it before - don't explain it to the others just yet;
2. If you've not played it before, just be patient. Of course you could get the rules by googling it, but that would spoil your own enjoyment.
You'll work it out before long.
Now - which version?
Can I propose Tudor Court rules? Unless anyone else has a different preference...?
Gregorio Sarto - June 4, 2011 12:45 AM (GMT)
Or we could play according to Old Devonshire Version. It's a variant of standard rules Mornington Crescent, but players can knock their oponents out of position with a "strike move"
There's an example of a game using Old Devonshire rules here:

...if someone has the time, maybe we can post a picture of a London Tube map, so that our American cousins will be able to follow the game, or even give it a go.
Clare - June 4, 2011 07:58 AM (GMT)
Oh goody! Always wanted to play this!
Here's a map, if anyone can make it out. There are bigger ones, but they'd stretch the screen.

I'm rather hoping that someone like Gregorio or Ashmo will start the ball rolling!
:wait:

Charing Cross Road
Sunny-Gem - June 5, 2011 02:29 PM (GMT)
Hmm.. this is interesting. I've not much of a clue how this is played but I shall await developments :D

Don't worry about that. A clue is not necessary. In fact, it's probably best not to have one!
AdoramusTe - June 5, 2011 06:41 PM (GMT)
I believe that Turnham Green would be the obvious place to go next.

Wow, that move may be obvious to you, but it took me by surpirse... :o
Ok, let me think...
Clare - June 5, 2011 09:34 PM (GMT)
I think it's my turn anyway, Gregorio.
So... I reckon the next stop must be...
Finsbury Park

Paddington.
:D
AdoramusTe - June 5, 2011 10:13 PM (GMT)
Not at all clear why you chose that, Gregorio.
I'll move to Wapping, a choice which I'm sure you'll understand.
Clare - June 5, 2011 10:29 PM (GMT)
Yes, I can appreciate Gregorio didn't leave you with much choice there, AT.
I guess I'll just have to opt for East Finchley, in which case.

Now that's a sneaky move!
I don't like the look of where this could take us next, but I've not much choice:
Tottenham Court Road

Aye, that was a tough move to have to make. Still, you've left me with with plenty of room for manouvre.
Next station, Goodge Street!

That's an illegal move old mate.
Clare - June 6, 2011 12:51 PM (GMT)
Sorry Odd. I'm sure all will become clear in due course! Did you watch the video Gregorio posted in his second post in the thread? That might help.
I'll let someone else start the next round.
AdoramusTe - June 6, 2011 03:06 PM (GMT)
Here's a strategic one for you. I hope that this move doesn't give away too many of my plans!
Stockwell.
Clare - June 6, 2011 03:15 PM (GMT)
Hmmm. Surely that's an unprecedented starting point.
I suppose the only possibility from thence is
Baker Street

Surely Paddington would have been less risky?

No. I shall thwart your nefarious designs and stick with Baker Street!

By jove, I think I've got it! This looks a little bit like it's exactly the same as a completely different game which I played once which I could never understand at all, in which case I understand it perfectly!
If I'm right then the best logical place to go next, it seems is the Kilburn High Road.
If I'm just being a simpleton, do please excuse me!
PATRICIUS - June 6, 2011 10:38 PM (GMT)
Why take the High Road, when you could stay and have some fun with Seven Sisters?

Maida Vale it is.

Don't mind me. I was just being silly for fun.
I can't read the map; I've not watched the video and have no plans to do so.

That's traditional, alright, but Tradition can be found at St Paul's
Clare - June 7, 2011 08:48 AM (GMT)
Oh, now what to do. The recent moves have thrown me off balance somewhat.
I'll take a wild stab at Camden Town.
