Description: Feast of the Holy Family, 2011
Clare - January 10, 2011 08:43 PM (GMT)

Dedalus/Stephen Heiner has more photos,
here.
Berengaria - January 10, 2011 10:10 PM (GMT)
Cool. I think my favorite is this one:
Dawn Marie - February 11, 2011 11:01 PM (GMT)
O my goodness...I'm such a girl! As soon as I saw these pics they made my cry.
I know many of you get to see H.E. often but I have not seen my dear Bishop in three years (come April).
God bless Bishop Williamson and thank you for the photos!

:) If you can afford the plane fare, Dawn Marie, you know exactly where to come for a foreign holiday and a bit of sight-seeing. ;)

If I could my dear P.O.G. I would be there in a New York minute!

Me too. I have often thought about it. This thread, as well as a
discussion yesterday or the day before about "faceless acquaintances" with Gregorio Sarto, made me think of it again. I would love to meet some of the members of Ignis over there, as well as see Bp. Williamson (& Fr. Morgan) again. We should have done it last spring; we thought about it, but for various reasons we did a driving trip here instead. And now I'd have to get out of the country without getting scanned or groped. (They don't do that over there, do they? At least if I know I can get back without that, it helps!) This year, we will be busy, so I don't know if it will happen, but really, one of these days, I'd love to get over there and meet a bunch of you.
(BTW, how scattered are you all? I guess the best chance of meeting the most would be at some event like a pilgrimage?)
Dawn Marie - February 12, 2011 03:29 AM (GMT)
I just thought of something...I'd need a translator cuz I don't speak English

(that's a cut at myself, of course, I always feel like a red-neck hillbilly next to my English friends )
Pilgrimage of Grace - February 12, 2011 05:36 PM (GMT)
 If you think you don't speak English you should hear me speak!
Cristera - February 13, 2011 01:00 AM (GMT)
Clare, thanks for the photos!!
God bless Bishop Williamson!!
VIVA MONSEŅOR WILLIAMSON!!!
Soldier, shepherd, Prophet....
Gregorio Sarto - February 13, 2011 09:29 PM (GMT)
You should, Beren, it'd be good to meet you, Dawn ditto - we could make it the occasion of an Ignis Ardens social or something!

Not all that scattered, surprisingly. And what we think of as "a long way away" over here is probably what would seem practically next door in the U.S.
A few members are either near St. Michael's, or in London. In fact I'd say there's a fair little group who live within reasonable distance of London. For the benefit of all the MI5/CIA/Mossad people reading this, I'll say no more...! :oj:
But yes, Canterbury Pilgrimage or the November conferences (BCTON) would be a splendid idea - there's usually a quorum of Ignis members at those events. That's where I last saw Credo, Adesto, Kilroy and a few others...
I warn you though, not to be too disappointed: if you met us in the flesh we may not appear how you thought, and you may end up never thinking of us the same again. :o
In real life PoG, for example, is a bald scottish midget who drives a tractor to work each day, and AdoramusTe has a purple mohican hairstyle, a long shaggy beard down to his knees and smokes cheap Rumanian cigarettes... And as for Clare! Well! :P

I thought he might look like this handsome fella ;)

V) Yes, that'd be cool, but it would have to be somewhere I could get to! I wouldn't want to miss it.

Yes, I live near enough London, but I can't go there! Not because the government's after me or anything, I just couldn't cope with the public transport!

Well, I hope all of you will not be crushed to learn that I don't actually look like Elizabeth Taylor... :wh: (shh... Don't anybody tell Michael Wilson or Oldavid!)

Well, I already know what Clare looks like, from
this description. The famous moustache does not surprise me at all, since
I already knew she was
"fascist-friendly".

That's good; if we do it, it would be nice to meet as many of you as possible.
And late in the year might work. My husband won't really have vacation time then, unless he changes his schedule around, but by that time hopefully we will be less busy, regarding the thing I said we'd be busy with, and maybe could swing it.
And Clare, if we do manage to get there, we must meet you too! We'll figure something out!
The other challenge will be driving on the wrong side of the road! :o
p.s. When is the Canterbury Pilgrimage?

Where in the US are you from Berengaria? If I did do something like this my husband would not be able to come. Perhaps he would be more willing to let me go if I flew with some companions. (He is willing to let me go but not by myself).
Pilgrimage of Grace - February 15, 2011 01:33 PM (GMT)
It would be fantastic if some of our American, or other, friends could manage to come on our famous Canterbury Pilgrimage - its famous amongst ourselves, anyway!
It's normally held during the last weekend of June, if I remember rightly.
Some photographs from last year!

I would LOVE to come for this pilgrimage! However not being in the best of health I don't know how much of it I could do. (not much, would be my guess :( )
Pilgrimage of Grace - February 15, 2011 03:00 PM (GMT)
People do whatever they can manage, Dawn Marie. Nothing more is expected.
There is always transportation that runs between water-stops and campsites for those who need a rest or are not able to walk.
I wouldn't suggest that one travels all the way from the US just for the pilgrimage, but as part of a proper holiday to the British Isles - what Americans might call a worthy vocation, or is that vacation? ;) - it would certainly be worthwhile visiting that part of the country. That area of the country is known as 'The Garden of England', and is a splendid place to wander around during an English summer.
It is also very easy traveling distance to London where His Lordship, due to a finely-tuned sense of pastoral obligation and concern for the welfare of good Catholics, would surely find it very difficult to turn down a genuine plea to accompany such Catholics to dinner or to the opera ;)

That's because at my age and with all my infirmities I have to set-off a month early just to arrive when you lot do, mate.
Clare - February 15, 2011 09:37 PM (GMT)
I wonder if there'll be a pub stop on the Sunday again this year.
I'm rehearsing already my annual failing to notice its mention in the newsletter and asking, "What no pub stop?", and having it pointed out to me that there will be one at the usual time and place.
Not that there's much chance of my getting to it, mind. :(

Clare - February 15, 2011 10:17 PM (GMT)
The main problem is Mass!
I could, in theory, get to the pilgrimage Mass at 8am, or whenever it is, but that'd involve hubby and kids and I getting up horrendously early, to be 50 miles away at 8am.
But if we're to go to my usual 12.30pm Mass, there's no chance we'd get to the pub 50+ miles away for 1pm or 2pm or whenever the lunch is.

The pub stop sounds ideal for an Ignis Ardens get-together. Clare, what if we come and pick you up? (ah, I see you answered this while I was typing..)
Actually, July is not likely for me this year :( , but hopefully, maybe November. Are they having that Bringing Christ to our Neighbor conference again? (I think GS referred to it above?)

I should say so. There's always a pub-stop, and wine and song in camp. That's Catholic Tradition with a capital 'T', missus.
The day when our grand Bellocian-style meandering along Kentish lanes and up Kentish hills turns into Puritan's Progress, Heaven forbid, is the day when it stops being an English Catholic pilgrimage.

I would expect so. The conferences have been staged three years running now; they've almost become a tradition in themselves.
November is often horrible, yukky, weather in England though, Beren. Not the best time of year for a holiday over here. June to the end of September is the only time any sun will be out (if we're lucky)!
