Title: News from the GB SSPX District!

Clare - July 1, 2007 05:21 PM (GMT)
Right, I think I've got this right, any members who know better may correct me if I'm wrong:

Fr Webber will be moving from London up to Preston, to join Fr King and Fr Wingerden.

Fr Summers will be joining the school.
Fr Kurtz is going to Wanganui, New Zealand.
Fr Brucciani is going to India.

Fr Sherry, a newly ordained priest, will be joining Wimbledon.

Is that right?

Clare.

I have just read the July newsletter, Clare. This all seems correct. Brother Hyacinth is going back to the Philippines. Fr. Summers is actually coming to the district this month rather than August. There will only be 2 priests at the school from now on - Fr. Summers & Fr. Holden.

Fr. Webber will be greatly missed in the South. He is certainly an answer to prayers in the North, but please pray for him. The situation in the North being what it is, Father is certainly going to need our prayers!

Perhaps the faithful in the North will be able to view the "9/11 Mysteries" film? Somehow, I doubt it!

It's usually a London-based priest, I think.

Might be Fr McLaughlin or the new priest Fr Sherry. I doubt it'd be Fr Morgan. My money's on Fr McLaughlin! I'll pop over to the bookies first thing tomorrow!

Don't worry Varus, Fr. Webber will still be responsible for the Scandinavian mission.

I've saved you the trouble of a journey, and a hefty loss, so some reward would be appropriate, I think.

So now you owe me about fifty quid. :sm:

Michael owes me his Swiss Bank account details for sending Fr. W. his way :sm: :sm:

And Colleen owes me several thousand pounds for book and CD sale commissions :sm: :sm: :sm:

Less of the "crypto", if you don't mind, young lady.

I thought my newly aquired reputation as a Communist was going to stick for a while but more thoughtful folk have obviously seen through the disguise.

Ah, but PoG...I know you believe to St. Matthew when he said:

"Lay not up to yourselves treasures on earth: where the rust, and moth consume, and where thieves break through and steal. But lay up to yourselves treasures in heaven: where neither the rust nor moth doth consume, and where thieves do not break through, nor steal. For where thy treasure is, there is thy heart also."

An even better point, Colleen, and I believe it. So just to be on the safe side, when the taxman asks I'll give him hyper's name, return your cash, keep Clare's (it's only fifty pounds) and give the millions I cleared out of Michael's Swiss account in alms (and he'll be up in arms!) ;)

Late news:

Fr Matthew Clifton (who had been Prior in the north until last year, and has been on a sabbatical) will be going to St Mary's, Kansas.

Two bits of 'old' news that haven't been mentioned yet.

Reverend Mr. Håkan Lindström will be spending much of his final seminary year gaining practical missionary experience by helping out at St. Michael's school.

The jumble sale at St. Joseph's in London last week raised three hundred and seventy five pounds which will be given to the Fraternity's mission in Rhodesia.

I hope this money is not converted into the currency of the country; it will lose value very quickly. :sm:

Saint Ignatius Loyola said the human heart is like the altar of our soul. Whatever we hold most dear to us would be what we come to worship as our god. If we desire wealth, power, fame, or comfort in this life...that becomes for us, our god. Through the Blessed Virgin Mary's intercession and Holy Mother Church, I have found it most helpful to strive with all my might ( weak as I am ) to hold the Sacred Heart of Jesus along with the Immaculate Heart of Mary as equally placed upon the " altar " of my heart: while seeing both of their hearts enflamed with love. It helps to drive away Satan and the powers of darkness...and all sin is darkness. Peace to you and yours.

Oh, he must be famous....I will tell you this fact, the first time I saw him, he was too familiar and I really believed that I met him somewhere, so in the dinning table, I was seated in front of him, and I asked him if he ever been to my place... he said he never been, so I felt kinda weird coz I really think i met him somewhere...

All change again in the next few months!

Fr McLaughlin will be prior in Scotland, aided and abetted by Fr Sherry. Lucky Scotland!

Fr Boyle and Fr Webber are off to Canada. Lucky Canada!

Fr Clifton is coming back to be prior in London! Yay!

And there are other changes too, but the above are the ones that stuck in my mind. :)

Adesto - June 28, 2009 03:30 PM (GMT)
I'm confused- I thought Fr. Webber was off elsewhere!

So who will be in charge of Bristol, and will the North get another priest?

I want to know about my patch! :protest: :bawl: Please :D

I have the newsletter to hand now:

Fr Boyle is off to Calgary, and will be replaced in Bristol by Fr Paul Kimball.

Fr Webber is off to Toronto.

Frs McLaughlin and Sherry are assigned to the new priory in Carluke, Scotland.

Fr Clifton is coming back to be prior in Wimbledon.

Fr Hakan Lindstrom, newly ordained, is also joining the Wimbledon posse!

Brother Lawrence will join Frs King and Wingerden in Preston.

Fr Morgan is stuck with us lot for another six years!

Adesto - June 28, 2009 07:31 PM (GMT)
Thanks Clare!

Fr. Kimbal- that rings a bell. He's American, I think there's a Kimbal clan over at St. Mary's? I wonder if he's one of them.

Great that Fr. Clifton's coming back! :D And that we keep Fr. Morgan! Shame about the others leaving, though. Bristol will be really strange without the wonderful Fr. Boyle!

But Preston STILL haven't got a third priest. I guess with the Scottish Masses being taken care of at least some of the pressure is off them .

Though, I'm sad that the south is losing Frs McLaughlin and Sherry. Both of them have brought my dad the sacraments at home.

Good point, I hadn't thought of it like that. I wonder who will do the Scandanavian mission from now on? Is the Swedish Fr. going to be posted there I wonder?

It is a shame for you about the two London priests being moved :(

QUOTE
Each summer brings with it the possibility of new appointments for the Fathers, and this year is no exception. It is always useful to remember that ours is an international congregation and as such the Superior General and his Assistants have to think about the common good of the Society around the world, and this over and above our own preferences or those of the faithful! Indeed, Archbishop Lefebvre would often remind us of the importance of generosity and detachment from our own will in this regard.

So it is that I announce the following changes for this country and which take effect as of August 15th 2009.

Father Leo Boyle, after having been with us these last eleven years as local superior of Preston and then Bristol, has now been named to Calgary in Canada, to be in charge of the large parish and school there. We shall miss Father’s cheerful and energetic dedication at Saint Saviour’s which has been spent in preaching retreats, taking care of the residents, maintaining the extensive House, welcoming and providing for guests, ministering to the additional chapels of
Taunton and Middlemarsh . . .Our prayers and good wishes go with him as we welcome his replacement, Father Paul Kimball, of American nationality, who was ordained at Winona in 1989, and is presently stationed in Singapore.

Father Steven Webber has also been assigned to Canada, as an assistant in the District Headquarters in Toronto. Father has been outside his native country, the USA, ever since his ordination in 2002, both in South Africa, and here at Saint Michael’s School, London and Preston, and so is not too unhappy about the prospect of being a bit closer to home! His own interest in literature has played a major part in establishing the various seminars, given by Bishop Williamson and Doctor David Alan White here in London, which have been appreciated by all, and he has done much to encourage the work of the League of Christ the King. For these and all his priestly labours we hereby express our sincere thanks and wish him well in his new appointment.

After a certain amount of speculation amongst the faithful(!), I can now confirm that Father John McLaughlin will be the local superior of our new House in Carluke, Scotland, and will be assisted by Father David Sherry. Amongst the many duties attached to the District House, special thanks are due to Fr McLaughlin for overseeing and completing where necessary the District sacramental records, and for taking special care of Saint Joseph’s Church. Indeed, as you may have noticed, the policy of particular priests being responsible for particular churches - at least in a delegated way - has now been introduced throughout the country and should help consolidate the work and needs of each place. Fr Sherry meanwhile has shown himself to be a very competent District Secretary, not least in our accounts department, in addition to his weekly visits to the school and his role as chaplain to the Eucharistic Crusade. I am confident the two Fathers will do well in their new posts in Lanarkshire when they become our first resident priests in Scotland this August.

Returning to Great Britain is Father Matthew Clifton, whom we shall be happy to have here in London as the new prior after his having spent two busy years in Saint Mary’s, Kansas. Also, Father Hakan Lindstrom, our first Swedish priest for the Society, ordained in Zaitzkofen on 27th June 2009, has been assigned to London and will be a welcome collaborator in the work of our Scandinavian missions. We intend to increase the visits to Sweden to the number of two days per month, with the extra visit being undertaken by the Fathers from Scotland.

Brother Lawrence, who is presently back in the Philippines awaiting his visa renewal, will, in due course, join Father King and Father Wingerden in Saint Mary’s House, Preston, so as to help assist in the community life and offices. When Brother Columba finishes his noviciate here at Saint George’s House, towards the end of the year, he will then replace Brother Lawrence at Saint Michael’s School, where he is looking forward working outside again as he did previously on Papa Stronsay.

With regard to the School, Father Summers deserves our thanks for having directed the School to the completion of another successful academic year. Our thanks go to all the staff for their generous contribution to the work of Catholic education, not least to Ronald Warwick who now retires from St Michael’s after eleven years of tireless dedication as Head of Studies and English Master. May he enjoy his well deserved retirement - he will be fondly remembered as a true teacher.

Father Patrick Groche has now completed his sabbatical year with us during the course of which he kindly helped out with some of the Sunday and Feastday Masses. We wish him well as he awaits news of his next assignment.

As for myself, Bishop Fellay has re-appointed me District Superior for another six-year term - Deo Gratias! May I commend all our appointments to your prayers as we continue to rely on your loyal support in our common cause for Catholic Tradition.

During these summer months, may I encourage all the faithful to maintain the correct norms of dress, particularly in the churches, with regard to head-coverings, length of dresses, and sufficiently formal attire which is becoming in the House of God?

With every good wish and blessing this month of the Precious Blood,

Fr. Paul Morgan
District Superior.

Some changes announced in the October 2010 newsletter:

The recently ordained Fr. Sandmark is based at Bristol, of course, which somehow missed being noted on this thread after his ordination in June.

The latest changes are as follows:

Fr. Morgan will, in the short to medium term, take charge of affairs in Ireland on top of his duties as District Superior in Britain.

Fr. Sherry has been appointed as prior for Athlone and will be joined there by another Irish priest, Fr. Francis Gallagher.

Fr. Fabrice Loschi, who was previously prior in Athone, will be helping at the priory in Carluke until Fr. Mauro Tranquillo arrives there to take up his new position in Scotland. Fr. Loschi, will then replace Don Tranquillo in Rimini, Italy, for the time being.

A suitable property has been purchased by SSPX on the island of Stronsay where Fr. Nicholas Mary, CSSR, and Br. Gerard Mary, CSSR, will be based to consolidate and expand the apostolate in the Orkneys and northern Scotland.

The Scandinavian apostolate has been extended to a block of 10 days every month and will primarily be the responsibility of Fr. Lindstrom, who will travel from London, with the occasional visit of Fr. Sandmark, who will travel from Bristol.

A warm welcome to all of our new priests, and a fond farewell, sincere thanks and godspeed to Fr. Loschi, and to Fr. David Nichols who was based in Athlone and who will now take up a new appointment in Orlando, Florida, USA.
