I find that funny because this is a different planet, chances are those trees have some trick up their sleeves. Ideas don't just pop into ones head its a chain reaction. Clearly something happened for why she now believes their is a forest god or whatever.

Common sense dictates wait a few generations and see if it is just superstition or not.

I ran into a homeless guy one day that ran around screaming about the end of the world. By gamgee's theory this man was, in fact, at least partially correct. I should go build a bunker and stockpile food.

I say we heed her advice and go with B, harvesting only some living wood. While I agree that we shouldn't deny ourselves a valuable resource, I do think that there might be some reason to the female's wariness, and even if it turns out that there's no truth to it whatsoever, it'd probably be a good idea to be cautious. If the jungle spirit thing is true, then we won't have pissed it off as much as if we had just gone and harvested as much as we wanted, and if its false, we'll still have some living wood. I think in this case we would do well to follow the old adage about looking before we leap.

Another reason to go with B is that if we go with A and don't harvest any living wood, we still won't know whether the jungle spirit gets pissed off by it, but if we go with C and it does get pissed off, it's going to be really pissed off.

That's a french decision. We don't get as much wood as we would like and we run the risk of incurring wrath. And who knows if this is even a god that quantifies blasphemies.

If our tribe is going to survive, we're going to need everyone working together as well as possible. All the choices have impacts on how the group works.

-Choosing A will begin feelings of resentment towards the female and, to a lesser extent, the leader, since the others will feel like the leader is favouring the female over the others. It could also make the leader look like a superstitious fool.

-Choosing B won't make anyone particularly happy, but it won't upset them too much either. Depending on how its handled, it could make the leader either look like an even-handed, fair-minded leader, or it'd make him look weak.

-Choosing C will spark feelings of isolation and resentment in the female, and going directly against her wishes too often could result in her either betraying us or leaving. Both of those results are unacceptable.

Right now our group is too small to afford losing members, so we need to keep everyone as happy as possible.

Incurring the god's wrath would lead to lost numbers....

Also, like I said, we can't be sure what sort of god this is. The christian god, for example, doesn't get only a little bit upset for a little bit of sodomy, it's all or nothing.

We don't even know if there is a jungle god, and if we go with A we still won't know. If we're going to piss off the god, I'd rather have an angry god and a frustrated woman than an angry god and a really angry woman. Also, I think it would be better to think of it this way: say we pulled some branches from two or three trees. This would be like breaking a window of a guy's house. Say instead of pulling branches from just two or three trees, we pulled them from twenty trees. This would be like smashing 5 windows. The guy that owns the house is going to be pissed either way, but if you only break one window you won't have to pay as much for the repairs as if you had broken 5 windows.

The Crystalli - Wandering Tribe
-------------------------------------------------------
Tribe Description: The six-member tribe is a ragged collection of Crystalli separated from their various families and tribes. There are three males and three females, one of which is pregnant. The only general look that the tribe members share are a gaunt, muscular leanness.
Spoken Language: Grunts and hand motions are the most complex their spoken language gets, enough to minimally function.
Written Language: They have no concept of writing.
Current Area: Flooded Jungle
The flooded jungle is an unrelentingly humid rainforest where most of the ground is covered in water, from inch-deep puddles to forty-foot deep lakes. A wide variety of flora and fauna thrive in the jungle’s various levels – the canopies, the ground, and the water. All main clades of animals are represented well here save birds. Bony-headed amphibians dwell in the shallower regions of the lake, carnivorous fish swim in the depths, and mammals and reptiles populate the higher reaches of the jungle.
Current Location: Lake Fringe
A strand of trees overlook a shallow cliff leading to one of the jungle’s many deep lakes. Moss overgrows nearly everything here, but sunlight is plentiful due to widely spaced trees. Small reptiles and amphibians are abundant, preying on even more abundant insects. The largest creatures here are predatory amphibious synapsids and reptiles and fish deeper inside the lake.
Religion: The tribe, particularly the Adult Female #1, have some reverence for one or more jungle spirits.

Adult Male #2 – This male is of average stature and brawn, though he has a cunning mind. Although he is the eldest of the tribe, he is not much older than the leading male, though obviously not as strong. He has a natural affinity for herblore and knows many medicinal properties of various jungle plants.

Adult Female #1 – This adult female is the mother of the younger female, and is rather protective over her. She has a loving, if somewhat overbearing attitude. She is known for her ability to appraise various fruits by just sniffing them to tell if they are edible or poisonous.
Health: ●●●●●
Age: 35
Woodworking: ●●●●
Adult Female #2 – This female is an older adult, yet maintains much of her youth through her sleek downy feathers and strong horns. She is obviously pregnant, for her stomach swells out rather far. She must be due soon. This female has a soft, motherly personality. She is unable to work due to her pregnancy.
Health: ●●●● (Pregnant)

Young Adult Male #1 - This male is the son of the tribe leader, and takes after his father handsomely. He has a leg wound causing him to limp.

-------------------------------------------------------
The young adult female heeded her elder’s advice, though not completely. She argued that the living wood was the strongest, and it was best that they bring back some to the tribe, along with some dead wood and driftwood. The adult female reluctantly agreed, but made sure that they cut the wood as gently as they could – which, incidentally, was not very gentle. They were forced to use sharp rocks and their massive strength to hew branches from the trees. On their trip back to the grove, the adult female seemed pleased and more at peace than the young adult female had seen her before, like she suddenly understood something. [Mysticism +3]

Further away, the males waded through the water, searching for large prey. The young adult male stayed in the trees, increasing the range of sight for the hunting party. Suddenly, they heard a splash. About twenty feet away, they saw a Gigadon, a large predatory synapsid resembling a Dimetrodon. It was a scaly mammal-like reptile, and it’s twelve-foot long body was powerfully muscled. It’s jaw was massive and filled with long mammalian canines, not the sharp small teeth you’d find in true reptiles. They feared the beast, since it saw them as prey just as much as they saw it as prey. The three hunters froze in mid-step, trying to formulate a plan yet afraid to make a move or sound, less the beast see them. It was too late – the Gigadon’s heavily muscled neck turned in their direction, and it saw the two males on the ground. The young adult male in the trees remained hidden however, and he decided to take advantage of this.

He quietly glided down to the base of the tree, to grab a rock. He didn’t know what would work best to drop on the animal to wound it…what size was better? Large or small? How about the shape? Blunt or sharp? He settled on a round-ish rock about as large as a man’s head. Grabbing it in his hands, he climbed back up the tree using his feet and two prehensile tails. The males below were still staring at the Gigadon, which remained motionless. The male took up pre-gliding position on a tall branch, flexed his wings, and jumped. The sudden movement in the canopy distracted the Gigadon and the two males beneath grabbed branches close to them to arm themselves.

The Gigadon growled at the young adult male gliding above it, when the male let the rock it was holding drop. The rock hit the Gigadon’s right hind leg, and it roared in pain – though the sudden loss of weight from dropping the rock made the gliding male lose control and crash-land into a large tree trunk. The wounded Gigadon, limping, was close enough to the male, and charged at him, tearing a gash in his flank before he was able to get up. It would have killed him too, if not for the sudden arrival of the two elder males. They raised the tree branches in their hands and clubbed the beast until it was dead.

With the beast dead and the wounded male safe, the hunting group started making plans on how to get both the large carcass and limping male back to the grove. The second adult male looked around the clearing they had come into a grabbed a pale fern-like plant growing between some rocks. He crushed it with his teeth and applied it to the young male’s wound. [Herblore +5] They waited for the effects of the herb to sink in, and the two unhurt males carried the Gigadon carcass while the hurt male limped his way back, able to walk – just slower than normal. The two adult males had carried their clubs back with them as well, for they had learned that they made effective weapons. If there were knobs on them, they did more damaged but damaged the hide, and the head and neck were more fatal areas to hit.

Back at the home grove, the two parties joined together and told of their exploits. The adult female’s jungle spirits idea was generally accepted, though there was some argument about their number. The adult female said that there were a multitude of jungle spirits, each embodying an aspect of nature. The younger female said that there were many, but they embodied different emotions. The leader said that there was only one jungle spirit, and it was omniscient and all-powerful. The others stayed quiet, and thought on these.

-------------------------------------------------------
How do you want to deal with this situation?
A) Follow the ideas of the adult female and believe that there are a multitude of spirits embodying different aspects of the natural world.
B) Follow the ideas of the adult female and believe that there are a multitude of spirits embodying different emotions.
C) Follow the ideas of the leader and believe that there is only one, all-powerful omniscient god/goddess.
D) Suggest another idea to the tribe, and have them follow that idea.
-------------------------------------------------------
The questions about the jungle spirits brought on more questions about them, now that their general existence was confirmed by the tribe. The leader thought that their genders were as they were on the planet – male and female. The spiritual adult female believed that the spirits were too otherworldly to have genders, and were simply genderless.
-------------------------------------------------------
How do you want to deal with this situation?
A) Follow the ideas of the adult female and believe that divine spirits lack genders.
B) Follow the ideas of the leader and believe that divine spirits have male and female genders.
-------------------------------------------------------
The rest of the time was rather mellow. The leader tried to skin the Gigadon carcass, but failed. The only remnants were a pock-marked hide that was absolutely useless. The tribe devoured the intact Gigadon flesh happily, the males eating before the males in order of oldest to youngest. Some of the other tribe members resented this social hierarchy.
-------------------------------------------------------
How do you want to deal with this situation?
A) Change the social hierarchy so that it is females first, oldest to youngest.
B) Change the social hierarchy so that it is females first, youngest to oldest.
C) Change the social hierarchy so that it is males first, youngest to oldest.
D) Change the social hierarchy so that it is whoever can push their way through and eat.
E) Lose the social hierarchy, and have everyone eat as much as they need, saving the rest.
-------------------------------------------------------
As night closed in, the leader began to start rubbing rocks and sticks together, following a vague thought in his mind. He was trying to make fire, though he didn’t know it yet. After an hour of vigorously trying to create enough friction to start a fire, he was rewarded with a spark – but that was it. The spark leapt from the driftwood that the leader was rubbing against another piece of driftwood, and fell on the moist tree branch, and died.

The tribe members soon fell asleep, sated and content.

A. The most scientific, leads to better understanding of the laws of nature

A. I'd rather keep the religion a bit more simple by doing this

B. Females get pregnant, and thusly can need more food, and children need to grow.

B. Not only does this help us kill stuff, but it also increases our knowledge of anatomy
C. Leads to clothing, drums, etc.
F. Fire!
H. It's free (or was the lack of a cost a typo?), and acceptable by our religion.

A.
B.
C.
D.
E.
F. Most of them are free (or was that a typo?), so might as well pick them all

L. Adult Male #2. We need young male #1 back up and healthy ASAP
I. Adult Female #1 We need food, but cannot spare enough people to safely hunt large game.
B. Young adult female #1. we'll need driftwood for our fire
H. Adult Male #1. We need food, but cannot spare enough people to hunt large game

How do you want to deal with this situation?
B) Follow the ideas of the adult female and believe that there are a multitude of spirits embodying different emotions.

While i wish to have some religion around i'd actually prefer it if we went away from the nature based and went for the emotions instead, some change from the main group will only make things more interesting in the long run and i see some interesting possibilities aswell as we evolve it further

-------------------------------------------------------
How do you want to deal with this situation?
B) Follow the ideas of the leader and believe that divine spirits have male and female genders.

This will allow more variation and might even at times let us have two gods of the same emotion, only with different focuses on it

-------------------------------------------------------
How do you want to deal with this situation?
E) Lose the social hierarchy, and have everyone eat as much as they need, saving the rest.

In eating i think we should lose the hierarchy as the needs might vary on situations and it can be a hinderance at those times, much better to let each get their fair share

-------------------------------------------------------

I'm going to save myself a lot of retyping this round and simply state that i will follow Sebs votes on tech, culture and workers

Sidenote: gonna ask very nicely for us to focus on the emotion gods rather then the nature, please smile.gif

Uh, guys? Everything has a cost. The PP and CP beside them are simply the points you've already invested. Remember, you need to invest points until they are done. You don't know their limits, but I do. I put excess points toward other things.

Everyone needs to revote.
