Yupp, Strength hunting and martial skills makes for a rather good hunter/warrior/scout, toss in intelligence and said child is more likely to be able to make better decitions(assuming we don't make him act contrary
) and finally Astrology would help him keep quite well oriented and knowing where he is(once we learn a bit more about the stars anyhow), not sure what woodworking could be good for aside from maybe making different tools he might need on the fly
As for the magic, there is a saying i favor along the lines of 'don't put all the eggs in one basket'
If something bad where to happen to Erera we would be at 0 mages, i'd rather have two practicing magic at different times(both are likely to think in different ways which may open new paths and choices)
