1. You are in a drop of water, in an ocean of an unknown planet. The planet is fresh from forming, with tectonic plates still colliding and volcanoes still dieing down and raging forth. Because of these events, the land is virtually barren, and no life is visible. However, due to the underwater volcanic activity, the ocean is warm and fertile. You are a single celled organism, struggling to get a firm grasp on life. Your ‘senses’ fail to tell you much, as they are not developed yet, but you know instinctively that there are larger things around you that will devour you. You have basic organelles, and a very basic set of senses.

How do you want to evolve?
A) Increase our basic senses, making us able to grow more aware of our surroundings.

What do you want to do?
B) Try to feed on the smaller non-predatory cells, which means we will have to feed often.

2. You have multiplied, divided, and multiplied again, again, and again. To adapt to your environment, your sensory cells have grown a bit larger and more complex, and you now have the rudimentary sense of taste and hearing, as well as a better sense of touch. Because of this, you have 'learned' a new feeling, the feeling of pain. You can tell when something is harmful to you, and react somewhat to it. Your taste and hearing sensory cells allow you to tell which cell is most nutritious, and to sense vibrations in the water, enhancing your ability to hunt down other cells. Thanks to these new adaptations, your population has exploded, but with the good always comes the bad. Foreign cells have invaded, and they are advanced with two adaptations - a large flagella, increasing their speed, and two primeval 'arms' which help them hunt down prey. They have become the apex predator and are decimating the food chain. You are all the other cells are no match for them, what do you choose to do?

How do you want to evolve?
E) Grow a small projection on the head, which will enable us to kill our prey more effectively. With this, we may hunt predators.

What do you want to do?
B) Try to feed along with the foreign cells, hoping to form a symbiotic 'relationship'.

3. Split. Divide. Eat. Die. This process has been going on, years on end, and finally a new result is complete. You have evolved a small projection, perhaps you can call it a 'horn'. The percentage of escaped prey is now nearly 0%, bringing up your population numbers by half, though the alien cells continue to massacre prey and predator. To adapt to this, the cells have 'decided' (As much as a cell can decide, of course.) to follow the alien cells and try to be a symbiote. At first, for the first couple of hundred years, your cells were decimated for following the aliens though in time the alien cells grew along with it, and actually benefited from you being there, and you benefited from them being there. Your cell population numbers are tiny, though they are quickly coming up from your relationship with the aliens. You also notice that the foreign cells are leaving your 'home' area, and travelling to another place. You follow them along and scavenge their food, as well as being protected by them. They absorb the nutrients from your waste, and occasionally snack on you when food is low, which is a rare case. Things have turned out unexpectedly and times are good.

How do you want to evolve?
A) Increase our neuron activity, giving us more capacity for senses and making us smarter.

What do you want to do?
E) Leave the alien cells, and explore the environment possibly turning up new species, both predator and prey.

4. Hundreds of years have passed, and with it things have changed. Our cell has revolutionized the world of cellular evolution and is the first one to gain a second-level complex nucleus. We are now the smartest cells to exist and have evolved a new method of hunting. Mother Nature is not a woman to be fooled and will never let the scales tip, so other cells have evolved as well. Although you do not know it because you have left the old ecosystem, the non-predatory cells have evolved to split four times instead of two, making plentiful prey. The predatory cells have also evolved small arms similar to the alien cell's arms to catch the ever-multiplying prey. The alien cell has specialized a couple of it's sensory organs to sense light and dark, the very beginning of what could be called 'eyes'. Since leaving them, the aliens have again adjusted, and are once again hostile to you. You have stumbled upon a new environment...

You've come upon the first plants of this new planet, and they are floating leaves, similar to duckweed. With them travel hundreds of tiny non-predatory cells, easy, easy prey. There are two types of them. One of them has cilia and has managed to evade some of the attacks by your slow cells, and the other cell appears to have no adaptation at all. Food is plentiful in this mini-ecosystem of drifting leaves, and the only downside is spending your energy to travel along with them, but with all the prey and no predators it isn't much of a problem. It appears all is well...

How do you want to evolve? (Choose two because of the plentiful food.)
E) Turn your pigment cells transparent, which will hide us from most predators and enable us to hunt by stealth.
H) Enable our cell to split into four instead of two, greatly enlarging our population size.

What do you want our new hunting tactic to be?
C) Hunt in small-medium sized packs, similar to wolves.

What do you want to do?
B) Feed solely on the cells with cilia, to 'practice' catching faster prey.

5. 1x4. 4x4. 16x4. 64x4. 256x4. 1024x4. This is how your cells have started dividing, halving the time it takes to come up with a new adaptation. You are now ahead of the other cells both intellectually (For a cell, that is.) and adaptation-wise. Food is now back to an average level, since you are chasing after cells faster than you, but because of this your cell has developed new ways to capture prey, including forming small packs that split up in all directions, forcing the prey into one of their own. You are close to stepping up on the ladder of life. All good things must come to an end though. The poisonous cells have developed a small protrusion on their head, and started trying to attack you. Thanks to your sheer numbers and near invisible camouflage, they haven't been able to make a dent, but life will keep on evolving and adapting to its current situation, they will find a way through soon. Cells barely sense you now, but a few of them (Probably the ones that will be selected in natural selection.) can sense you and manage to get away, due to your slow speed. Not enough of them are doing this to affect your huge population, but again, evolution changes everything. You have not explored the plant much, on closer inspection it has dozens of little holes in it.

How do you want to evolve?
C) Grow a flagella, increasing speed greatly, and increasing our control a bit.

What do you want to do?
B) Venture INSIDE the green reaches of the tiny floating leaf.

5. Generations upon generations have now passed, and to adapt with the struggle of our ever-faster prey, we've developed a tail-like flagella. With this adaptation, the cells are falling before us like flies, and are fast on the track to extinction. The predatory cells have multiplied even further, and evolved a more complex poison gland. They're now able to secrete poison into the surrounding water, and with their numbers (Which are now too many too handle, due to the fact that we didn't hunt them.) are growing to be a deadly threat to us. To keep safe from the poisonous cells, we've ventured inside the floating leaves. The green labyrinth inside the leaves contains limitless nutrients that we've absorbed, and some little cells that dwell in limited quantity inside the leaves. For now, we are preying on these, but soon we'll have to leave. What will we do?

How do you want to evolve?
F) Slow our metabolism, allowing us to conserve more energy and feed less often, putting us in less danger.

What do you want to do?
E) Leave the floating plants, and explore the environment, possibly turning up new species, both predator and prey.

6. Time changes everything. We have left the plants, the plants which nourished us for so long. We do not leave empty-handed however, as having such a plentiful food source for so long has taught our bodies to slow down and conserve energy, giving us a slower metabolism. But we are not the only ones that have changed. Since we have depleted the stocks of non-predatory cells so severely, and caused the predatory cells to secrete poison, the non-predatory cells outside of the floating plants have been wiped extinct. Those are the repercussions of our invading. Leaving the plant cells means we are travelling in free water, and we have come upon something, another species of cell.

The alien cell is back. We've stumbled upon what appears to be a colony of them travelling through open water, and time has changed them just as well. They have only one extra adaptation, as they do not multiply as fast as we do, so they cannot evolve as fast as we do. They are still massive, though only slightly larger than us, and their arms and flagella appear to be a bit bigger. (Their flagella is relatively the same size as ours.) Their new adaptation is a large 'horn' from in between their arms, at the front of their body. (They attack by swishing their arms, creating a vacuum of water that sucks small cells into the area in-between their arms, where the spike and mouth are located.) Because of our advanced camouflage, they have not noticed us yet. We outnumber them greatly, but they might have the advantage of the environment. We do not know where we are. We could be near several other alien colonies, or perhaps we are alone with just them. Attacking them is a risky procedure, but if we do not we don't know the next time we'll stumble upon food. Attacking them will provide food for a long time, and with our slow metabolism we can store the food.

What do you want to do?
A) Break up into small packs, surround the colony, and stealth attack them.

7. You break up into packs, each consisting of fifteen to twenty-five individual cells, and slowly surround the huge colony of cells. The alien cells keep advancing forward, travelling to whatever location they were set too. The water was thick, and your cells were about to charge. Suddenly, one of the alien cells, probably one that would be selected through natural selection sensed something. This alien cell had several more sensory cells than normal, and detected a ripple through the water...pssshhhhhh, it's skin started secreting something, and the water around it got slightly cloudy. Did you think the alien cells only evolved once while you were gone? They had developed a new organ, one that contained pheromones to secrete into the water, the first form of communication ever. The whole colony of alien cells turned toward the secretor (?) and picked up the vibrations of our cells. They charged. We broke cover and attacked. The aliens were flanked, as they failed to see that we had surrounded them. By the end of that battle, eighty percent of our cells had survived, and were bloated with the carcasses of the aliens...we had won the battle. Suddenly, one of our cells detected something. Vibrations...coming from the direction the aliens came from. The water was thick with alien pheromones, and would be sure to alert any alien cells nearby. It did.

Dear God. We had stumbled into the alien cell 'hive'.

The alien cells were coming en masse, and would be an invincible force to defeat. Our little cell bodies are full of energy, but not enough to defeat the aliens. We have been forced into a corner, and there are several ways out.

What do you want to do?
C) Swim straight up, toward the water's surface.

8. You swim through the water, now clouded with alien cell remains and alien pheromones, heading towards the endless silver of the water's surface. Up here the sunlight is fully penetrating, and life is fertile. There are millions of tiny cells up here, and there appears to be two varieties. Also, you can see a mass of green in the far distance. No immediate danger is present, and there appears to be plenty of food in the form of tiny, darting cells. The alien cells were full of nutrients because they were so highly advanced, so you have the capacity for two evolutions. What will you do?

How do you want to evolve? Choose two due to the abundance of food.
D) Develop another organ.
G) Increase the activity in our nucleus, allowing us to have more senses and increasing our 'intelligence'.

What do you want to do?
A) Start feeding equally on both species of cells.

What kind of organ would you like to develop?
D) A second very primitive 'stomach'.

9. After feeding off some of the new cells, something sparked in our nucleuses. Some would call it a thought, though cells aren't capable of such things. Some would call it 'instinct', but it's too complex to be pure instinct. Whatever it was, it drove us down, down past the waters of our battle, down past where the sunlight died, and even further down, until all was black.

The long journey has hardened our cells, toughened them. A cell this microscopic does not move enough in a day to be measured, so millions of years have passed, each generation driving further down on an ancient spark of the nucleus...we've grown and our bodies have adapted to this long journey. We're a bit faster, have a bit more control, and are a tiny bit tougher, and many times bigger. To keep our energy stores high during the long journey, a secondary 'stomach' has evolved inside of us, one that helps us feed more at one sitting, and to keep us going for longer. Our energy is now all but exhausted, and we need to feed. Not much thrives in this frigid water, though you see some lights moving about in the distance. Upon further investigation, this is a massive cell, one that must've evolved down here away from the sunlight above. It is specialized for living in the depths and has evolved very primary bioluminescence organs along the side of it's body. It has a massive flagella, at least three times longer than you though it is moved slowly. It is unknown whether it is predatory or not, as down here your transparent body is nigh invisible, and nothing has reacted to you. Other cells are unseen, and you're not sure if it is safe to attack this giant of the abyss...but food is needed immediately. Where will you search for food?

How do you want to evolve?
A) Focus all our energy on growth to become a multicellular creature.

What do you want to do?
E) Allow time and life to go on for countless millions of years.

- HERE, THE CELLS EVOLVED. DEEP IN THE DEPTHS OF THE BOUNDLESS BLUE, WE BECAME A MULTICELLED CREATURE. -

Millennia have passed and the planet has changed. Life now exists in complex forms, delving about in the water. The evolutionary battle has now taken a new turn, and cells have become multicellular. No species yet has crawled on the land, though that is expected to change shortly. Throughout the millennia, our cells have changed drastically into multicelled creatures known as the Atlantean...what do we look like?

What is our basic body structure?
C) Long and streamlined. (Eel/Lamprey)

What is our feeding structure?
C) Rows of little teeth and a large intestinal track. (Wolf Eel/Moray Eel)

How do we reproduce?
A) Meiosis/Sexual Reproduction (Most common form, requires a male and a female engaged in sex.)

How are the babies born?
B) Eggs are inside the body and live birth is given. (Mammals)

How are the babies/eggs cared for?
B) Eggs/babies are laid, females guard the eggs/babies.

How many eyes do we have?
F) Zero (Other senses are heightened.)

10. You find yourself in the black depths of the ocean, where the sunlight doesn't reach. The water is frigid and the environment is sparsely populated. The only life you can sense are the massive Enero Whales lazily swimming through the water to catch phytoplankton, although you have noticed that they seem to be moving in a specific direction. The only food that you can easily prey on are Ashae Krill, though you have to pick them off singly, as in numbers their stings could mean danger. Your small school of Atlantean will need food soon...where will you find it?

How do you want to evolve?
B) Grow longer whiskers, sharpening our senses and allowing us to find prey more easily.

What do you want to do?
B) Swim alongside the Enero Whales, allowing yourself to be seen, but staying near their lights where prey will be attracted to. Here you can feed on the plentiful Ashae Krill that live on the whale, and possibly turn up new easier prey.

11. Food is scarce in the cold ocean depths, but we have been able to live a meagre existence, feeding on phytoplankton and the occasional sick or weak Ashae Krill. This food has been just enough for generations to survive upon, and so we have made another evolution, one to make finding food and general life a lot easier. The feelers on our face have extended, and a second shorter pair have grow as well. We're able to find large clouds of phytoplankton and zooplankton, and small scattered groups of Ashae Krill, but we need more if we are to rise above the rest and evolve...by following the lights of the now twenty-centimetre long Enero Whales, we're led to the biggest phytoplankton swarms, and we can feed on the Ashae Krill on the whale's back, as they are often too bloated to fight back. We are protected from whatever predators there are by the whale's size, though they are sometimes aggravated when we eat too much of their plankton. Also, there are fiercely protective of their young, and are deadly when provoked...we have found where they are travelling. Millions of these whales travel to the edge of some great rock, and seem to wait to breed there. Their breeding season cannot be long, and with their fiercely protective behaviour we cannot keep following them...what will we do?

How do you want to evolve?
B) Grow special skin, where the pigment can slightly change according to the Atlantea's emotions/environment. This is the first step to a chameleon/octopus-like camouflage.

What do you want to do?
C) Swim back out of the whale's breeding area and use your senses to find a Ashae Krill nest.

12. Our skin has adapted to the darkness of our environment and we have developed special pigments that allow us to blend in with the darkness of the environment, improving our hunting and allowing us to sneak up to the alert Ashae Krill, snapping them right off of a whale's back. Following the whales has been large part of our evolution, as they provide protection and some food, with the drawback of barely sustainable losses to our small population. A surprising change has happened...our species has moved off of the dependency on whales, and gone to explore the depths. Our longer feelers have found some small Krill nests, though we have yet to stumble upon the colossal breeding colonies of the plentiful Ashae Krill. We can only evolve when we have a steady source of food, and the evolutions we've gained thus far are but small adaptations. If we want to make a major evolution to get ahead of the rest, we'll need to find something. Phytoplankton are too small for our hunting-evolved bodies to live on, and Ashae Krill are found few and far between. Again, we've ended up at the base of dark cliffs in our generations long journey to find a stable food source...where shall we go from here?

D) Develop our lateral line, allowing us to find smaller electrical pulses in the water.

What do you want to do?
E) Leave the depths and swim straight up, back towards the sunlight where food is more plentiful.

13. The Atlantean
Your small group has swum up, using the rocky cliff to guide your direction. Up here the sunlight penetrates the water, but no silver mirror shows up as the surface of the water. Instead, all you can make out (You don't have eyes, but this is for description's sake.) is an endless mass of green, without a break throughout. Your long journey has had dire consequences on your small group. Three young Atlantean are lost from sudden exposure to the sun, sudden temperature change, and fatigue, while five other young are lost to a new species...Capruca Leeches. These fish live in the upper tunnels of the cliff face, and ambush the weak, old, or young of our species (The weak, old, and young are the only ones un-camouflaged.). Your movement to the surface gives monumental opportunities...what will you make of them?

What do you want to do?
C) Leave the cliff face, and explore the environment, potentially turning up new species, both predator and prey.

13. The Xivai
Swimming horizontally alongside the rock cliff, we've picked up a mass of vibrations, able to sense it by our lateral line. The vibrations are far apart and moderately spread out, but our undeveloped lateral line tells us nothing more than that. They could be prey or predators, and with our dwindling food source, there leaves not much time for a decision. What should we do?

What do you want to do?
E) Swim towards the mass of electrical vibrations, in search of food.

14. The Atlantean
Your small group manages to swim away from the cliff face before you lose any more to the ravenous Capruca Leeches, and find yourself in open ocean...the water is warm and you are absorbing some of the energy dropped by the Dracea above. Here there is a thriving ecosystem out in the sand, and the underwater landscape is scattered with rocks here and there, and a couple fan-like plants. Due to your camouflage, the local fauna hasn't noticed you yet, but you observe them quietly...there are dull-coloured Batsu Fish swimming around, and they seem to be safe to prey on. They are a bit bigger than you and have a sharp beak, but only feed on the sea fans that grow on the abundant rocks nearby. You do not sense any predators, though where there is prey there are predators...you have to watch out. For now you've found a relatively safe environment...what will you do?

How do you want to evolve?
C) Develop our eyes more, allowing them to grow more complex and to recognize more things.

What do you want to do?
A) Stay here and feed on the Batsu Fish while evolving and breeding, expanding our population.

14. The Xivai
You've followed the electric vibrations through the water and found a large cavern in the cliff face, abundant with life. The cavern's ecosystem is full of life, much more than the barren desert outside. Here dwell Akosh Crabs, little white crustaceans that are quite heavily armoured, though with the small ones, you can swallow them whole. The larger crabs have caused some wounds, though none of them are fatal. They seem to feed on strange tentacled stalks that grow out of the ground, though you notice that these 'stalks' give off a scent, as well as constant electric vibrations...for now you've ignored them and prey on the crabs...here you've found a thriving ecosystem that has provided more food than you've found elsewhere, though it will not hold your increasing numbers. What will you do?

How do you want to evolve? Choose two due to the abundance of food.
A) Develop your jaw structure so that it is more fitted for piercing than it is for snapping. This will allow you to penetrate things more easily than a jaw ever would.
C) Develop a new minor organ.

What organ do you wish to develop?
E) A weak venom sac in our head, which will allow us to inject weak venom when we bite.

What do you want to do?
A) Remain feeding off the crabs, while ignoring the Guru Stalks.

15. The Atlantean
Year after year of successful breeding seasons have exploded our population, and the generations have adapted to life up in the sunlight, where our skin constantly absorbs energy, and where Batsu Fish provide easy prey. Our young have flourished like never before, swimming through the warm ocean currents to the underside of sea fans, feasting on the Batsu Fish's unprotected eggs. The fish themselves have grown more streamlined, swimming slightly faster and leaping through the silvery screen of the water's surface occasionally, to get away from us. Life is easy here, and our population is quickly making up the losses obtained going to the surface...only one factor stops us from overpopulating...our young are still mysteriously disappearing. They just vanish, never a body found, only the occasional scarlet wisp of blood seeping up through the water. To adjust to the light, our eyes have pushed through the layers of skin which obscured it, and can now recognize basic outlines...blurred silhouettes swim through a world of grey and white. Nothing much drives us to leave besides our nomadic instinct, but our instinct is always a strong force. A few other groups of Atlantean have already left this sandy paradise, some to the cliffy, rock-strewn north, and others to the emerald land to the south. For now we are staying here, but something is bound to happen. The only question is, will it be beneficial, or destroy our race?

How do you want to evolve? Choose two, due to the abundance of food.
A) Develop our size, growing considerably larger and making us more intimidating predators as well as more intimidating prey.
C) Grow a new but minor organ.

What organ do you wish to develop?
A) An extra heart, which will better supply our muscles and other organs with oxygen.

What do you want to do?
A) Stay where you are, feeding on the slowly declining Batsu Fish while supplementing your diet with their eggs and the sun-absorbed nutrients.

15. The Xivai
Generations upon generations have lived and died, slowly evolving and adapting to the underwater cavern. Throughout this time, the jaws have adapted to penetrate the larger crabs' thick armour, though the crabs do not quickly die from this, and have killed many a Xiva in their dieing frenzy. To reduce the number of casualties, a small sac has developed in the frontal region, and is connected to our new 'fangs'. It causes the crab to (See below.), making it easier prey. The crabs nourish us well and there has been no real reason to prey on the Guru Stalks, though since our feeding of the Akosh Crabs, they have grown more numerous and encounters with them can't be avoided. They cannot move, though their tentacles move along with the current and have sometimes come in contact with us. When this happens, the touched Xiva falls, grabbed by the tentacles and stuffed into regions unknown. Still, life is moderately well without predators.

How do you want to evolve?
A) Complete the develop of our jaw structure, so that we can very easily stab and wound prey.

What do you want to do?
A) Stay where you are, feeding on the fast growing Akosh Crabs, supplementing your diet with minute phytoplankton.

16. The Atlantean
An eternal circle of life...repeated over...and over...and over. The Batsu Fish have slowly but surely started declining, not being able to keep up with the evolutionary race. We've adapted once more, to become an even more efficient predator. A secondary heart now exists in the confines of our chest to pump blood twice as fast around our body. Because of this, our brain remains quite active, though is confined by its size. We can swim faster, hunt easier, in an environment without predators. Or we could have. We've figured out the reason so many young Atlantean were vanishing...a predator lies within the sand, ever camouflaged. It is called the Noupo Fish, an offshoot of the newly encountered Suopo Fish. It lies in wait, buried underneath layers of sand, only betrayed by the characteristic shifting of sand when it strikes, taking a Atlantea into its jaws. With the size of our colony, we've had to expand our borders, and we've discovered a new plant. Kelp. It grows in massive forests, stretching into unknown heights far out of our reaches. With this new environment came the discovery of new creatures. Massive mud-brown fish twice our size haunt the seafloor, stirring up sand to devour Riapon Shrimp, small shrimp that dart along the sea-floor. With new prey, always comes new predators, and this is no special case. Hunter Crabs lurk the dark areas of the seafloor, ever ready to snatch up prey, and Volar Eels easily stun us with specialized electric organs in their tails. Once stunned, we are easy prey for these eels four times our size. It seems we have stumbled upon a whole new world, whether we like it or not.

How do you want to evolve?
A) Develop the complexity and size of your brain, allowing for more complex thoughts.

What do you want to do?
C) Remain in the sandy area, feeding on the new prey sources while doing your best to avoid the new predators. Here are many Hunter Crabs and Nuopo Fish, but many more Riapon Shrimp and Batsu Fish. (Also prey on the Hunter Crabs.)

16. The Xivai
The hundreds of years of gorging ourselves on white crustacean meat are slowly coming to an end...the Akosh Crabs are becoming harder and harder to find. Because of these, the Guru Stalks are everywhere, from the cavern ceilings to the cavern floor, but something odd has happened. When we get near them, they shorten their tentacles, allowing us to pass easily. Previously they had extended their tentacles when we neared them, occasionally killing a Xiva or two, but now they 'allow' us easy passage...

Our intrusion isn't the only thing reducing the Akosh Crab populations. Another crustacean has come...Grugi Crabs. They are a possible offshoot of the Hunter Crabs so often seen far above, though much, much larger. They have a huge shell, often mistaken for a rock, until something swims or crawls by, then the 'rock' lifts up and grabs anything living nearby with six massive pincers. They've been steadily preying on Akosh Crabs and Xivai alike, though are avoiding the Guru Stalks. We've avoided heavy casualties by sensing their vibrations. Our food source is growing low and a super predator has invaded...the cavern that has housed us so long is becoming a hostile place, and we are forced to hide in the cracks in between Guru Stalks, where the Grugi Crabs don't walk. In fact, they don't even come near the Guru Stalks, but instead kick up sand to try to cover them. Food is getting scarce and we have shifted in the food chain. What will we do?

How do you want to evolve?
E) Develop our size, growing considerably larger and making us more intimidating predators as well as more intimidating prey.

What do you want to do?
B) Spend more time in between the Guru Stalks, where you are relatively safe from the ravenous Grugi Crabs.

17. The Atlantean
With many prey come many predators. For some of these predators it's just a matter of outrunning them, but for others, physical domination is just impossible. Vuelan have come to our waters...colossal super-predators that patrol the borders of the Kelp Forest. They are an eight-foot long shark-like predators, with multiple sets of fins, razor-sharp teeth, and the ability to deliver a powerful electric jolt. It seems nothing can compete against these monsters, and so, we have evolved a larger brain. With this, we have been able to keep casualties to a minimum, though we are still terrorized by this beast among beasts. Fortunately, since we are in the sand fields, they do not come too close. Breeding seasons have come and gone, and the environment is already starting to catch up to us. What will we do?

How do you want to evolve?
C) Develop feathery gills, allowing us to filter the water to pick up more oxygen, increasing the usefulness of our organs and creating a deadlier predator, as well as a more elusive prey.

What do you want to do?
C) Remain in the sandy area, feeding on the new prey sources while doing your best to avoid the new predators. Here are many Hunter Crabs and Nuopo Fish, but many more Riapon Shrimp and Batsu Fish. (Also prey on the Hunter Crabs.)

17. The Xivai
We have grown considerably larger, and some smaller Grugi Crabs are leaving us alone, though our food problem hasn't been solved yet. The Guru Stalks provide ample cover and protection from the menacing claws of the Grugi, but we must leave their protection to hunt for food. The Akosh Crabs are all but extinct now, and very few remain in our cavern. Instead, many of them have crawled into the long tunnels that lead deeper into the rock, and with them follow the smaller Grugi Crabs, though the larger ones remain here to feed on us. The Guru Stalks remain being docile to us, though some can't help but touch our larger bodies. The Xiva that are touched this way slowly grow lethargic, and eventually die. Because of our desperate situation, our own dead bodies are providing nutrition for us, though if this practice continues our species will go extinct. We must do something. The only question is...what?

How do you want to evolve?
C) Develop feathery gills, allowing us to filter the water to pick up more oxygen, increasing the usefulness of our organs and creating a deadlier predator, as well as a more elusive prey.

What do you want to do?
B) Leave the main cavern and explore the deeper caverns, possibly turning up new species, both predator and prey.

18. The Atlantean
The sandy ecosystem in between the cliffs and the kelp forest have nourished the bulk of Atlantean for a long time...most species have felt the bite of your jaws, from the Suopo Fish to the Hunter Crabs, from prey to predator. Since you are so near the sun, oxygen comes in plentiful amounts, though still yet you have evolved feathery gills, enabling you to filter the water even more for the tiniest bubbles of oxygen. With this excess of air, it is no surprise that your systems are flowing easily, like a well-oiled machine. Your body's systems are at their working best, keep active night and day to keep away from the plentiful predators that haunt your species. The near-invisible Nuopo Fish and the eight-foot long shark-like super predators, the Open Water Vuelan. Though your population has taken heavy tolls, you have been given the ability the opportunities to evolve to your best. This is truly a matter of quality over quantity, though even then Nature has its limits. With an ecosystem running out of prey and crowding in with predators, you must take action before the Atlantean fall. What will you do?

How do you want to evolve?
C) Strengthen our existing body systems, or develop new organs.

What system would you like to develop upon?
F) Develop upon your lateral line, making your electric sensory cells more complex and allowing you to detect smaller vibrations in a larger range, and be more able to pin-point the source.

What do you want to do?
B) Start hunting just outside the sandy area, on the fringes of the kelp forest where prey is most abundant. Here are many Suopo Fish feeding on the bottom, but also many Volar Eels hunting in and out of the forest. (Also prey on the Volar Eels.)

18. The Xivai
With the main cavern decreasing in prey and growing in Grugi super predators, you are forced to flee, deeper into the dark reaches of the cavernous tunnels. A mysterious growth coats some of the tunnel walls, illuminating the way with a neon green light. Near the glowing algae are crowds of zooplankton, which just manages to barely sustain us...we cannot see nor sense where the tunnel ends, and if we keep on going into nothing, we will starve to death. If we turn back now, we can still return to our main cavern, where at least there are a couple Akosh Crabs to eat, and the Guru Stalks to protect us.

In these closed confines, air is scarce, and we have evolved bright feathery gills to help us filter the water for oxygen, and this has woke up our brain from its long slumber. Here is our situation, what will we make of it?

How do you want to evolve?
C) Develop our brain, greatening our capacity to hold more senses, and generally increasing our intelligence. This is a step towards sapience, a step that all must take.

How does your poison cripple your prey?
C) The poison causes paralysis, stopping the victim's heart and therefore their circulatory system. This will stop the victim, allowing the Xivai to tear it to pieces and devour it alive.

What do you want to do?
A) Keep going through the algae-lined tunnels, ever deeper into the shadowy reaches of the unknown.


19. The Atlantean
This new environment harbours many species, due to the rich amount of nutrients dropped by the Kelp. The Suopo Fish have evolved to become opportunistic eaters, devouring any creature which happens to get in their way. Fortunately, our size have put them off, and we are able to feed off the fleshy area above their fins, where their scales don't cover. Another easy source of prey has come out of the Kelp Forest's green doors...they are known as Bouionts. They are small and plentiful, and never seem to end, forever providing easy food for all members of the Kelp fringe environment.

They say that all good things must come to an end, and so does the fertile paradise of the Kelp Forest fringe. The Volar Eels and Vuelan super-predators come in bulk here, though fortunately you are able to sense them before they sense you...with this, you are able to successfully take down a couple of Volar Eels, massive predators as they are...though it is an entirely different story with the Vuelan. Although you can sense them, you are still no match for their twelve fins that enable them to go thirty-five miles per hour underwater. Food is plenty here, but so are predators...Will you stay or will you go?

How do you want to evolve?
B) Develop our tail into more of a flat paddle, allowing us to swim at higher speeds and making a faster and therefore deadlier predator.

What do you want to do?
B) Remain where you are, feeding on Volar Eels, Nuopo Fish, and the Bouionts. (Only the yellow ones.)

19. The Xivai
The Xivai have taken a whole new step up the evolutionary stairs...they've developed an even more complex brain. The caverns wind on ever and ever, just filling us with swarms of zooplankton and luminescent algae...

We've come across a split in the tunnel. Which way to go?

How do you want to evolve?
A) Develop a slimy coating on the outside of our body, protecting us from chemical danger. (For example, if someone were to poison the water, or if we touched something poisonous, it wouldn't affect us. A physical piercing wound or physical damage would still affect us.)

What do you want to do?
A) Left.

20. The Atlantean
Generations upon generations of Atlantean have swam, hunted, and have been hunted on the fringe of the Kelp Forests. Powerful Atlantean jaws have ripped open succulent Suopo Fish flesh, torn apart the fragile Skulls of Volar Eels triple our size, and feasted upon the tender white meat of the endless yellow Bouionts. With our prey ever evolving and predators always on our tail, it is no wonder that our tails have adapted and become paddle-like, allowing us to escape most danger. For once we are in a balanced ecosystem, where prey is abundant and predators are plentiful. The times are good…

How do you want to evolve? Choose two because of the abundant food.
A) Grow another set of fins on the side, further increasing your speed and control. This will enable you to become a faster, deadlier predator and a harder to catch, more elusive prey.
H) Alter an existing system or develop a new organ.

What system would you like to develop upon?
B) Develop finer and more numerous electric-sensory cells, increasing our ability to detect electrical vibrations through the water. With these complex cells, we’ll be able to pin-point the exact direction, location, and approximate size of whatever is creating the electrical vibrations.

What do you want to do?
A) Remain where you are, feeding on Volar Eels, Suopo Fish, and the yellow Bouionts while being preyed upon by the Open Water Vuelan.

20. The Xivai
The cavern tunnels are seemingly infinite, with the occasional break of fluorescent light by Glow Algae on the walls…finally, finally, the tunnels end. A massive cavern opens up before the little group of Xivai. Massive rocks jut out of the stone floor, and Guru Stalks grow on some of them. The far side of the cavern has three deep tunnels, with no end in sight. Meanwhile, the cavern floor is filled with large, white spheres. Your lateral lines detect distinct vibrations all around the cavern coming from these ivory spheres…what will you do?

How do you want to evolve? Choose two because of the abundant food source.
F) Develop scales that will partially cover our body, protecting us from some physical harm, making us a more durable creature.
H) Alter an existing system or develop a new organ.

What system would you like to develop upon?
B) Develop finer hairs that filter the water for oxygen more efficiently, while growing the size of the overall gill. This will allow us to collect a considerate amount of oxygen, rejuvenating and refreshing our bloodstream, allowing us to have faster reflexes and more active body organs.

What do you want to do?
D) Go forward, to the three dark tunnels.
