"How I despise these vile staircases!" Ada couldn't help but exclaim vehemently as her passage through the castle was once again interrupted by the movement of the enchanted stair. Swinging from the top, it fairly floated across the gap between floors, hovering over the open void below it. The structure moved at a horrendously slow pace, disrupting all travel and causing thoe stranded on it to wait out it's passage for periods of time that ranged from seconds to hours.
Flipping blonde hair angrily, she leaned a bit against the mahogany railing and glared upwards, towards where she wanted to be. Her emerald-lined robes fluttered anxiously at their hems, tossed around a bit by the sudden vacuum caused by the stair's movement. Italian clad feet where bared momentarily, stomping angrily on the marbled surface they stood on. It was ridiculous, how a simple trip to the library could be put so out of sorts by the whimsical nature of the stairs. Honestly, she considered putting a freezing charmon the whole structure to keep it from moving. Of course, she didn't consider that the original animating spell must be very powerful indeed, and that a third year like herself had little chance of overpowering it. Her excuse was that if the founders put them there, the stairs must have a use. This understanding saved her pride.
And while wallowing in her own self-pity and thoughts, Ada failed to notice that she was not alone on that magical staircase ride. Catching the reflection of someone in the shiny marble that made up the stairs, she spun around immediately. Supressing a groan, she managed to turn what would have been a smirk into her usual honeyed smile. Sacharinne to the last, she lightly fingered her gold locks while thinking of something to say. As nothing particularly witty came to her, she settled for a civil greeting.
"Fancy seeing you here, Lily."
