Tea for one..., and one for tea...

Josh couldn't help but grimace as he entered Madam Puddifoot's tea shop. Everywhere he looked their were couples. It was indeed spring time and in Madam Puddifoot's it seemed that it was Valentine's also, all year round. In the corner Josh saw his ex, Melinda, cozying up to her newest boyfriend. He couldn't believe she had moved on that quickly but shrugged it off like he did everything else that happened to him.

"Can I get a chamomile tea." Joshua ordered as he sat down on a booth on the exact opposite side of Melinda and her 'guy-friend', not wanting to see anything more then he already witnessed. Josh really didn't like tea all that much but he had heard from a friend that it worked well with sleeping problems, which was what he'd been having lately.

Every night that week Josh had been having nightmares of himself getting hit by a bludger and falling to his death on the bleachers of the Gryffindor stands of the Quidditch stadium. It had seemed so real to him and he knew with the game against Slytherin approaching in a couple weeks it may very well come true. Josh was Gryffindor's seeker and had been since he first arrived at Hogwarts and tried out for the position.

The tea was brought to his table and he thanked the waitress that delivered it to him. He sat staring into the cup, getting lost in another daydream of his when he felt a tap on his shoulder and someone clear their throat. He turned around, cup in hand, and glanced up to see who had decided to come talk to him.

[Vanessa Potter]

Vanessa's quick light steps led her into the dimly lit tea shop. She had been out looking at what was in the shops all day and needed somewhere to relax. She was planning on going to the three broomsticks, but it was too loud and busy for her liking. She took a seat at one of the booths in the far corner and ordered a cup of tea.

She undid her hair tie, letting her feathery blonde hair fall just past her shoulders. She quickly put it up into a neat ponytail again, an then leaned back in the seat and closed her eyes. She thought about Emma, then shook the thoughts out of her head. She could not cry here, not now, not ever. She looked around wondering what was taking so long for the tea. She ussually wouldn't, but she really did not want to think about Emma.

Just as if her wish had come true her tea had arrived. She took a small sip before she began to think about her school work. Like always it was perfect, but she always wanted to be sure. She thought about any homework she still ahd to do. Then remembered she had done it the day before.

[Rio Tivoli]

A slightly tall girl opened the door to Madam Puddifoot's. She walked in and sat at a small cirular table alone. She ordered a Hazel and Ginger Tea and sighed after. Looking around the place and at the diffrent couples she sighed again. A few of her friends where here right now, with their boyfriends. She looked out the window at other students and some Hogwmeade residents walk around and browse as she pulled her hair out of the braid she has put it in that morning. As she continued waiting she started twisting a lock of hair around her index finger in a bored manor..

[Ryan Ventros]

"Josh what the hell happened to you at practice today man!?" Ryan asked after Josh turned around. He had noticed something strange going on with his best friend lately and wanted to get to the bottom of it. "I can't believe you freaked right when the snitch came at you. You looked like you were hit with some invisable thing." Ryan laughed as he pulled a chair besides Josh and sat down.

"What's up with all these couples anyway. Don't they have anything better to do then hang around a tea shop all day and kiss till their lips fall off?" Ryan exclaimed looking around. Ryan, unlike his more mild mannered friend, did not care who noticed him and who became annoyed with him. Of course in his mind he figured whoever got annoyed with him was just being too sensitive anyway.

"Dang, Melinda's all over that transfer student," Ryan commented as soon as his soda came, "Hey Mel, get a room would yah?" Ryan shouted over to her as he shook his head at Josh, "How are you gonna let her humiliate you like that man? Melinda's got no class. Just once I'd like to see a girl with class at Hogwarts!" Ryan exclaimed again as he sneered at Mel. He wasn't normally so cynical, however he knew how hurt Josh was when Melinda broke it off with him.

"Hey, isn't your name Vanessa?" Ryan asked a girl sitting not too far from them. He had seen her around the commons and wondered to himself why he had never struck up a conversation with her.

Josh laughed when he saw his friend Ryan standing there. Ryan could always be counted upon to make him laugh when he needed it. "Ry, you wouldn't believe me if I told you." Josh replied, referring to Ryan's question about freaking out at Qudditch practice that day.

Josh started sketching idly on a napkin when he saw Rio walk in and sit down. He decided to start sketching her since she was directly in front of his eye sight and also he found her a lot more interesting to sketch then the flower vase in front of him. getting steadily more concentrated on his sketching Josh paid no attention to Ryan's bantering of Melinda and proceeded to concentrate on Rio and his drawing.

Josh had been drawing since he was a child, so sketching someone's portrait was nothing to him. After he was done, the sketch captured her likeness exactly and satisfied, Josh set the napkin besides his cup of tea.

Josh looked up finally to see that Ryan had set his sights on Vanessa Potter, a girl younger then them but in their same house. He let Ryan be, and turned to daydream once again as he sipped his cup of tea not noticing the person walking into the tea shop until the napkin blew away.

Josh saw the napkin float away but decided not to grab it. He could draw more exactly like it so he figured it was no big deal... that is, until he saw it land right at Rio's feet. Josh panicked slightly as his breath caught in his throat. 'what if she sees it and thinks I'm stalking her or something. Or what if she sees it and is one of those girls that likes me... crap... what do I do. I know, I'll just come up and say "Sorry bout that, you were right in front of me so I decided to sketch you. no big deal or anything." okay that's good I'll do that.' Josh hoped she would just figure that he was extremely bored and not try to read too much into his drawing.

Josh and Ryan were two of the most popular guys in school. So it was no wonder why Josh would hope she was not "one of those girls" meaning the ones that would follow him around hanging on his every word. Truth was, he hated girls like that.

[Rio Tivoli]

Rio smiled as her tea was set in front of her. "Thank you!" she said and smiled brightly at the person who had just delivered it. She tooke a sip of the ginger and hazel tea, one of her favourites, and smiled again. Today her mood was more cheerful then usual, she had noe clue why, she was just that way. She supposed it was becouse of the spring weather, nice days always made her good. She rumaged in her bag her a while until she tooke out a pad of parchment and a quill made from a raven feather. She quill slipped from her hand and floated silently to the floor.

She bent down to pick it up, placing the parchment on the table. She froze as she saw the napkin at her feet. At first site she thought it was just a napkin that had floated away from someone, but then she saw what it actuallly was. She gasped silently at the portrait of her on it. Slowly, Rio picked it up and studied it for a few secounds before beginning to gave around the room with her amber eyes, wondering who had done this.

Vanessa took another sip from her cup. She began to think about back home, and how she always use to have so much fun their. The late nights talking on the phone, hanging out with some of her closests friends. Now she dreaded ever leaving this school again. It would be to much pain for her to go through. After what happened last summer, she didn't think she could ever return the same"

(by the way if you want to know what happened last summer it is in my description. Just in case you are like totally lost reading this.)

She tucked a strand of loose hair behind her ear. She was still in deep thought when someone said her name. She looked around to see where it had come from. She had been completly zoned out a moment before, so her forest green eyes darter around untill they on a guy. She knew him of course, their wasn't a single person that didn't probably. She had heard stories of how he was rude, and didn't care what he said.

She said just to be polite "umm sorry, could you repete that, I was sorta zoned out a second ago." She took abother sip and turned her body in the chair so she was facing him.

"So, you think it captures you likeness?" Josh asked nonchalontly as he stood behind her waiting for her to turn around. "Don't get freaked or anything, I was just bored and you were right in front of me." He shrugged as he smiled at her, "By the way, the name's Josh. What's your name?" He flashed a small side grin at her as he stuck his hand out to shake hers.

Looking back over at Ryan, Josh shook his head. 'If he's not insulting people, he's either hitting on girls or asleep.' He thought to himself as he waited for Rio to reply. As he was waiting for Rio's answer, Josh suddenly remembered he was supposed to help his other friend, Annika, with her homework. She had said she would meet him at Madam Puddifoot's later on that day and he wondered when she would arrive.

Rio turned and smiled, looking back at the portrait for a moment. "Yes, it does, it's really good.." she said and smiled. "I'm Rio, nice to mmet you Josh," she said and grasped his hand, shaking it. She couldn't help but look back at the portrait yet again, it truely was very good.
