I find the lack of news about any developments toward getting the NHL back discouraging and it makes it difficult to have much to post about here or on the other site. However I don't know that silence means that nothing is happening behind the scenes. Larry has probaly learned from Balsillie's attempt to buy the Penguins that until the team is yours, silence about any relocation plans is wise.
Hopefully he is working on gaining support for investing in a brand new arena because I don't see the taxpayers footing the bill for such a large expense that is of no interest to many state residents. He may be lining up support to buy coroporate boxes. None of this is very exciting and may be hindered by rumours. Who knows maybe nothing is being done to bring the NHL back, but it sure was more exciting when there was talk of him and Baldwin competing for the rights of the HCC. I hope he plans to use most of the new revenue from the naming rights to build a new NHL caliber arena. I don't know that he would be announcing such plans until concrete plans were in place. No other teams are currently talking of relocation and the NHL hasn't announced plans for expansion. Hopefully Larry is busy working on preparing Hartford to be considered an expansion/relocation site. I will keep checking to see what is being posted here but with out some news or even rumours of something happening it is a bit difficult to keep posting. |
