No, I'm sad to say we didn't play a big part in his life. Remember, we were just the neighborhood pests. I wish I had been important to him, but in actuality we were children he saw every day and liked. I have to be honest as much as it pains me and say he liked us, but we weren't that big of a deal. I don't know what he told the other kids.
He sure was a big part of my life, though. My mom told me he was leaving -I don't know if he told her or if she heard it from my dad who was re-wiring the studio at the time. I guess he had planned to leave for a while-he knew his life lay in New York. I cried for months. At first it didn't sink in but when I realized I probably would never see him again, my little heart broke. I was depressed and lethargic for 6 months after that. It wasn't until next fall and starting school that I even perked up enough to approach normal. I think my parents were worried about me and my "unnatural attachment" to this grown man. He did come back to visit his family but that was only a couple times until we left for the States. When we were fawning all over him, he just laughed, I'm sure. I don't actually remember what he said-my most vivid memory is of my brother yelling "YOOK!" The performance is blurry too. I remember the crucifixion scene of course, because it looks like he's suffering terribly and everyone in the audience is sobbing. In retrospect, they probably shouldn't have taken 3 little kids to the theatre-it's not a kid's show. We were enthralled tho, just by seeing a live performance. I think the next live thing I saw was Grease in Chicago in the 9th grade. The more I think about Victor, the more I wonder if I even saw him correctly. I think my hero-worship really put some rose-coloured glasses on me. I don't know what I remember and what is stuck in my mind as a family story. He said he remembered me, but I think he was being polite-that or he remembered my mom. We look very much alike and we sound identical. He really hasn't seen me since I was 11 or 12. |

Toma, I'm certain that you and your family played a biger part of Victor's life than you think.
I can remember my little brother's friends who came over to our house, even though we only occassionally played board games together - I was 7 years older than they were. I can still remember from visiting the house of my best friend from my teenage years, the home's layout. I can even remember that Harold's next-door neighbour was a nice elderly gentleman named Mr. Miller. And that Harold's other next-door neighbours were the Littlejohns, who I didn't have opportunity to speak with. These are 35 year old memories, but they are still strong in my mind. That shows that repeated visits do leave a vivid imprint on a person's memory. As an actor, Victor must have better memory than I do. I'm sure that if I were to prompt Victor to recall his Toronto life during Godspell, he'd recall you and your family as a pleasant, comforting time of his life. ;hug; |

I had a neighbor in Battle Creek when I was 2-4: Mrs. Cracalicci. I was a little afraid of her altho really she was very nice because she was so small it was like she was a kid except she was an adult. This freaked me out tremendously.
38 years later I saw her again at my dad's funeral and recognized her instantly! Maybe Victor would remember us if he saw my mom. She was very fond of him. |

So, last week I went on a Garbergear buying spree and bought a few things off of Amazon. Although I've heard all the Godspell songs, I don't have them on an original CD, so I thought I'd buy a used one. It arrived in the mail a few days later. I now own a original vinyl album of Godspell. :brickwall:
