I decided to repost this in a new Theatre topic...obviously it did not belong in the SAG Awards topic,,,if that is okay...I was kind of surprised that no one else was excited about this...it was even in my local paper here in Nova Scotia this morning!  Looks like great news!!!!! Gary on Broadway [IMG]http://smilies.vidahost.com Roundabout Theatre Company will present Broadway revivals of the musical Bye Bye Birdie and Noel Coward’s Present Laughter, the latter starring Victor Garber, as part of its 2009-2010 season. No theaters or additional casting have been announced for either production at this time. Four-time Tony nominee Victor Garber will play Garry Essendine in Present Laughter, directed by Nicholas Martin, in the winter of 2009-2010. Coward’s classic comedy surrounds its leading character, a London matinee idol, with a lovestruck ingenue, an adulterous producer and a married seductress, not to mention his estranged wife .......... source Broadway.com After reading all the awful reviews of Last Templar this is a HUGE pick me up!!! marieeloise |

Thanks for starting this topic.
I had seen the notice about this. It is very exciting. I think it is great that Broadway once again is welcoming Victor back to it's stage. I hope the tickets are a lot cheaper than $250. I wonder how long before it is placed on an actual schedule? Wouldn't it be great if Victor could be nominated for a Tony! He certainly would deserve it. |

Whoo hoo!
Of course Nicholas Martin directed the one in Boston, didn't he? I'd expect this to be a regular B'way show with a run of weeks/months as opposed to the special event that ALNM was. Hopefully we can coordinate a trip! |

The Game Show Network does reruns of old "What's My Line" shows. I just saw an episode in which Noel Coward was the surprised guest star. I watched his mannerisms and pictured him as Garry E. Victor really did do a magnificent job with this role. I think he really captured the calm, cool sophistication of NC.
I really hope he gets to do this role. I commented in ALNM that I think between the two roles, that he would have his best chance at a Tony nom, in this role. Between the Tony, Emmy and Oscar, I just think that it would be so awesome for him to win a Tony. |

I'll be sure and let you know, Amy. I wondering if you can buy 3 tickets for the same show? Not the same performance, but the same show. Would that be a bargain? Maybe I'll call the theatre and ask them. |

Whenever I see a list of the Roundabout plays, "Present Laughter" is always listed last. I wonder if that is the order the shows will be performed?

Okay, so I've been missing alot of postings during the past few months, so I'm just discovering at the moment that Victor is doing this play in January 2010 in NYC. Right? Oh, boy. I'm gonna have to start putting money aside and beg my boss for a few days off. I will visit often for news! :) |

The Roundabout website indicates "Present Laughter" will be at the American Airlines Theater from January 2-March 21, 2010, but also states those dates are not final.
