Title: Handling Folks Who Get Angry When You Find Nothing

[FONT=Arial]How do you handle people that get P/O when either you find nothing in their house or explain things? For example, a woman was insisting her house was haunted; slaming doors. It was a 100+ yr old home. We found out the doors were closing due to wind/suction. What I mean is; you open or close a down-stairs door and a couple upstairs doors will close. It's very common and I'm sure you all have seen this. I was very polite with her and said that I wasn't saying there wasn't real activity there, just that we didn't experience anything. Showed her how the doors were closing. How do you all handle that when they seem offended?

When we don't get anything :
We tell them that e weren't able to document what they were experiencing but that it doesn't mean there is nothing there, it just means we were not lucky enough to have it happen while we were there. That we would be happy to keep trying.
When finding an explanation:
That is really about all you can do, be polite and explain what you believe is happening. If they really want to have a ghost you probably aren't going to convince them they don't. They will just keep having groups out until they find one that will declare the place haunted after 3 hours and prove it with photos with matrixing, orbs with faces, camera/operator errors and dust flying around on video.
One lady had set up a video on her own and was sure she had captured some "ghost." After we viewed her video we assured her that what she was seeing on the video were particles in the air and explained to her how common this is and how it happens. But we did investigate the place because there were other things she was experiencing. We were able to debunk most of it.
She had another group investigate after we did and she sent me some photos that they had taken. She said that we were wrong, she did in have ghost and the photos proved it. They were orb photos.
Most people are happy to find an non-paranormal explanation.
Maybe the lady was embarrassed because she didn't figure the door out herself?

I think that might have been the case. (embarrassed) I was very nice to her & offered to come back out at another time.

The think the hardest one was to politely to tell someone that "if you stop smoking pot, I bet most of your claims will go away."

I'm not a pot smoker myself but doesn't pot dull your senses instead of heightening them?
I would think that if something paranormal was happening around you it would be more likely you would miss it if you smoked pot.
I suppose thats another subject. :)
