Hair: Emmett’s hair is striking. It’s loosely curled, but cut short. It’s very dark in colour.

Eyes: His eyes are a deep golden colour, like those of the other vampires, which darken as he gets thirsty.

Unique Features: There aren’t many unique features about him, other than perhaps his sheer size and obvious strength.

Overall Appearance: Emmett is the tallest of the Cullens, standing at a good six feet, five inches. He is incredibly burly, muscled and the most intimidating, appearance wise, of all his adoptive family. He is strong and it shows; he understands the affect that his appearance plays on the humans around him and plays it up. Still, despite the slightly scary look about him, he’s beautiful just like all the other vampires.

His skin is pale and icy cold to the touch (for humans anyway) and he always has purple bruise-like shadows under his eyes which darken, the thirstier he is. He has an commanding air about him which, while not physical, draws eyes and attention to him. His smile, which is rarely not in place on his face, is bright and warm – which makes him just a little bit less frightening.

Overall Personality: Emmett is a reassuring – though sometimes annoying – sort of person to have around. He has a big, booming, and very contagious laugh. Bella once described him as a “big, scary, teddy bear”… an accurate description. He may look like the sort one ought to fear; but that’s only the case if you threaten something or someone that he feels strongly about. He is extremely protective over his family and would do absolutely anything to keep them safe.

He loves Rosalie with all his heart, which has undoubtedly brought out the softer side in him. He loves to make jokes, though sometimes such jokes cross the line of what’s decent and he doesn’t realize it. He likes to poke fun, but he never really means any harm; unfortunately, however, some people take his jokes too seriously and take offence.

Emmett is confident, overly at times, though often it’s more for show than anything else. He takes his role as family protector seriously and he doesn’t like to show fear. Sometimes he comes across as a show off – which he definitely can be at times – but he’s got a good heart. If he makes a mistake, he will do his best to fix it, even if admitting fault or weakness is a little tough for him.


Extras: Emmett doesn’t have any particularly special abilities; not like Edward, Alice or Bella. His extra skills are like Rosalie’s in that they’re more of an enhancement of his human life skills. As a human he was strong, brave and friendly – now he’s the strongest of the vampire coven (with the exception of Bella, but that won’t last) and viewed as the “protector” of the family. He’s very much the big brother figure and uses his strength to show off keep everyone safe.

History: Emmett Dale McCarty were born to parents Helen and Gavin in 1915. His mother had lived in Tennessee since birth, but her parents had been Irish immigrants. His father immigrated to American from Scotland as a child. The pair met in Gatlinburg, Tennessee in 1898 when Helen was nineteen years old. A year later they were married, and a year after that came their first child, Evelyn.

Emmett was the youngest of six children born to the couple. After his sister came four boys before him and by the time Emmett was a couple of years old his sister was off and married. The family was a sturdy, strong group and Emmett learned quickly that being the youngest meant he would have to fight to be noticed. Growing up in a house of rowdy boys taught Emmett to be nothing less. His mother tried to shape them into gentlemen of the time, but they would have nothing of it. They enjoyed fighting, hunting, and just doing whatever they wanted to do. They certainly weren’t at the top of society, and their antics didn’t help them climb the ladder. But all in all they were a fairly happy family living on simple but adequate means.

Helen died in 1931, leaving a grieved family struggling to stay together. After Helen died, Emmett became his father’s favourite because he was the closest in resemblance to her. In 1935 Emmett, one of only two McCarty sons who had yet to get married and start their own families, went hunting. His father was falling ill and was too proud to accept hand outs from his married sons. He was willing, however, to take Emmett’s help.

Emmett spotted a bear and decided to go after it; it would provide them with meat to last for weeks. However, he misjudged his attack and, slipping from his perch in a tree he hit the ground and broke one of his legs. The bear spotted him and without giving him a chance to escape, the creature attacked.

It was a wonder that the beast didn’t kill him completely, but the damage was enough that his injuries were near fatal. When Rosalie found him close to death, he was convinced that she was an angel come to take him to the afterlife. She carried him over a hundred miles to find Carlisle, who she convinced to turn Emmett into a vampire. He was convinced that he was in hell during the days of his turning, but decided that even hell was bearable if Rosalie, his angel, was there with him. When he found out what he had really become, he said “if Carlisle and Rosalie, my angel, were vampires, how bad could it be?”

He had a harder time sticking to Carlisle and the Cullen’s diet, and has “fallen off the wagon” a couple of times. But he’s determined to keep with it because he knows it’s the right thing to do.




Roleplay Sample (Ok, well, I suppose you’ve already seen some of my amazing skill, but just in case you weren’t paying attention, I’ll post one of my Edward posts. Mwahaha.)

“This whole vampire thing just becomes more and more of a nuisance every day…

Edward hated moving. He had always hated moving; every time they had to leave somewhere because their oddities were becoming too noticeable, it seemed like they had accumulated more stuff. More… useless stuff, generally. He had gone through his room – correction, his and Bella’s room – and had been sorely tempted to throw a good deal of his older things. However, pack rat that he was, he couldn’t bring himself to do it. This had only made the whole moving process that much more difficult.

Standing in the open and airy front hall of their new home, Edward set down a box. They had all come by only days after making the purchase – not long after the Volturi left, actually – and claimed rooms. Not, of course, that they were necessary for sleeping in… but they were necessary for storing the junk one accumulated over the decades. Well, that and presenting a semi-normal, human even, front. A house with no bedrooms, no beds, and no food would definitely come across as strange – which is why the Cullens made a habit of having such things handy.

He wasn’t completely sure where everyone else was at present. He could hear voices at the other end of the house; and suspected it was Carlisle and Esme discussing the placement of furniture and other things Edward didn’t care all too much about. Except the piano – he was adamant that his piano be somewhere that he could practice and not be bothered… too much. He was sure that Bella was nearby somewhere – maybe showing Renesmee the lovely landscaping outside. Or maybe she was dragging boxes from the car. If he thought she’d be in any danger, he’d go find her. But since turning her, he had learned to let go… just a little. Because with her new found grace she wasn’t all too likely to cause herself any harm.

Everyone was out of their old home back in Forks and boxes lined the walls here. He could see the trail of boxes left haphazardly up along the stairs too and supposed someone hadn’t felt like carrying them the rest of the way up the stairs. Probably some amusing distraction; he wondered what it had been. He knew, having been in and out of here several times already today, that the room his shared with Bella was also filled with unpacked boxes, as was Nessie’s beautiful little room. She, unlike the rest of them, did sleep and the decision had been made that she would sleep on the most comfortable bed that money could buy. It had been an amusing search – Rosalie had nearly glared the salesperson to death when they informed her that they didn’t have anything in stock and she’d have to wait for it to be shipped in. Needless to say, they had been happen to see the Cullens go.

“So it begins again,” he mumbled to himself, studying one of the boxes lying on the stairs. First things first, those would have to be cleared up. They had all been labelled and, after finding the words “KITCHEN – FRAGILE” on the side of the cardboard box, Edward set off to haul it to it’s resting place. He wondered what everyone else was up to.”
