The summer is over and it's time for the Cullens to move on; too many questions are circulating about Bella's radical change and it wouldn't do to stir up too much attention. Not when Bella and the rest of the Cullens are still adapting to the changes the marriage and birth had brought.
But the Volturri are upset at their loss and Kate and Tanya still grieve the loss of their sister - could they blame the Cullens? Some new vampires have moved into Forks... and they aren't vegetarian.
Things are getting crazy and tempers are swirling. Can't a vampire get a break? Forever starts today... but forever isn't as long as it used to be.

August 21 Late morning
Emmett stood at the entrance of the airport, an oversized suitcase sitting to his side. It was pretty empty right now; but it wouldn’t be for long. Once he got the child he was going to have to pick up some baby, or toddler, supplies. He didn’t know much about taking care of children; all that he knew came from watching Bella and Edward with Renesmee. Still, in the last little while, he had been watching rather closely. He knew that whichever child he got for Rosalie, it wasn’t going to age nearly as fast as little Nessie – they’d have to deal with each stage that much longer. However, Rosalie wanted so badly to be a mother that he was sure she’d do fine. Emmett, on the other hand, wasn’t sure how he was going to manage as a father. Still, he supposed he was laid back enough that he’d be ok.
There were a couple car seats in the back of his car – which he’d paid to keep in the airport parking lot. He hadn’t known what sort of seat he’d need; he’d never had a child before and besides, he didn’t even know how old, or what size, the child might be when he got it. He was pretty set on getting a boy, however; one female child in the house was enough. Besides, he was pretty sure that Rosalie would love having a little boy just as much, if not more, than having a little girl. He remembered her saying she’d wanted a little son, and he would give her just that. Depending on how this whole thing turned out, maybe, several years from now, he’d get her another. But for the moment, getting used to one human child was going to be more than enough.
He stood off to the side, not sure yet that he was ready to move past security. His ticket was tucked inside his passport, which was securely hidden away in his pocket. Everything was in order and he should have been ready to board. Especially after spending most of the early morning chatting with Jasper. His brother had given him some confidence, something Emmett was thankful for. The manipulation of emotions definitely could come in handy. Still, he wasn’t feeling as confident as he’d like to be feeling. He wished he could proceed with absolutely no concerns at all. Unfortunately, this just wasn’t happening.
Probably because he felt bad for leaving Rosalie behind. She looked absolutely miserable when she had said goodbye to him this morning. He had been miserable to leave her. However, he was only going to be gone a couple of days; they could both survive that – couldn’t they? Neither of them were in danger at present, so leaving the other behind for a few days wasn’t a horrible thing. Still, his heart was so utterly tied to hers that when she was grieving, so was he. Granted, he would have been upset even if she hadn’t been grieving – the thought of leaving her behind for a couple hours was painful enough. Emmett teased Edward and Bella to no end, but when all was said and done he knew exactly how they felt about one another – that sort of inseparable, undying, utterly obsessive devotion. That was how he felt about Rosalie. She was his life. His angel.
Staring out the window, he hoped she wouldn’t fret too much. He didn’t want her too upset while he was gone. He hoped she could manage to drag herself out of the house and go shopping with Alice, or drag Bella out to expand her wardrobe. The girls were always trying to improve Bella, somehow. Emmett pitied her, at times, for that because he knew what it was like to be on the receiving end of all of that. Rosalie took him out often to change up his whole look. He knew he wasn’t the most fashionable however he always tried his best to please Rosalie – he wouldn’t want her to think he didn’t care. He did. Just… growing up in the house that he had grown up with… it didn’t exactly breed an excellent fashion sense. They hadn’t had a lot of money and they were farmers. They wore what they had. What they could afford. Rosalie had been lucky, mostly, having been raised with money.
Though his heart would still break every time he remembered what she had gone through, what had lead to her changing. He would grow angry, uncontrollably angry, and he knew that if Rosalie hadn’t killed that Royce and his horrible friends, he would have done it. Often he wished that he could have been the one to do the honours, or at least that he had been able to assist. It hadn’t been him who had been hurt and humiliated, but for anyone to touch a hair on his beloved’s head was unacceptable. To cause her such grief, such pain? Unforgivable. Her past was part of the reason he was so protective over her – not that she couldn’t protect herself now. She just shouldn’t have to. He hadn’t been there to keep her safe the first time, not something he could blame himself for, but if no one would ever threaten her like that again. He would make sure of it.
He stood there, still staring blankly out the window. He would be cutting it all rather close if he didn’t pass through security soon. They would begin boarding in three quarters of an hour, he supposed, and getting through international security was always a hassle. He always, without fail, got stopped and checked. He just looked like the sort who might cause trouble, he supposed. But while Emmett was a prankster, he wasn’t stupid. He wasn’t going to make any inappropriate jokes in an airport. He really didn’t need the American government after him.
Something familiar caught his attention as he stared outside. A familiar car, a familiar figure. One he knew all too well. Emmett’s eyes widened. What’s Rose doing here?
Note: I’m posting this in the “other places” area so we don’t have to start a new thread for when they arrive in England and all that. It can all be one thread. =)

Rose tried to stay away and keep her promise, she truly did. All night she had clung on to Emmett, practically counting down the hours that they had left together. She made sure that he didn’t move from her sight all night long and if he tried to escape, she simply distracted him, using her good looks to her advantage. There was no way that she would let him out of her sight for a mere second seeing as how he would be gone for the entire week. Sure, he had said a few days but to a guy, a few days could be as long as two weeks. Rosalie knew that males and females were different in many ways, including the way they calculated time. Heck, their vocabulary was even highly different.
When they had to say goodbye in the morning, Rosalie was fighting the urge to wrap her legs around Emmett’s waist and forbid him from ever leaving her. It scared her a bit to see how dependent she had become towards him and almost how much she needed him around. She didn’t just want him with her; it was almost like she needed him like a human needed air and a fish needed water. She wasn’t sure how she wasn’t going to go insane without him here. The hardest thing she had to do that morning was let go. She was pretty sure that once she detangled herself from Emmett, she would collapse.
Luckily, Carlisle had pushed her down into a seat before she even had time to think. It was almost like he knew that bidding Emmett farewell would drain her emotionally and physically which was very rare for a vampire. She was just beginning to realize now how much she depended on Emmett. She had glanced around the deserted room, wondering what to do with herself. That was when she got the brilliant idea of following him. What if he was in danger? What if the old man was watching him or something? What if someone was following him? She knew that Emmett was more than capable of protecting himself, but what if someone found out his weakness? Suddenly, she wondered if he had a weakness physically.
For the first fifteen minutes after Emmett’s departure, she found herself slowly losing her sanity. Several theories were playing out in her mind and once or twice she even thought of witches and vampire bats before she realized that vampires didn’t turn into bats. She was pretty sure that Edward was keeping Nessie away from her purposely because of the thoughts that were currently going through her mind. It was then that she realized what she had to do. She was going to go with him or stop him, either way she would be with him. She knew that he would be enraged and highly irritated by her, but she didn’t care. She could deal with an angry Emmett; she couldn’t deal with being Emmett-less, no, that last one certainly wasn’t an option for her.
And so, she had quickly packed her entire wardrobe into one medium sized suitcase and bid farewell to Esme – the one that she knew would give her the least amount of trouble. Carlisle would surely try to stop her and Rose knew that the others wouldn’t want to be bothered with her stalking of her husband right about now. She was uncertain of how she could possibly shove all of her clothes into one bag, but she had managed and in record time as well. She would’ve been rather proud of herself if she wasn’t losing time.
She hopped into her favorite – and fastest- car and sped out of the driveway without buckling up. She was a vampire and she dying in a car accident was the farthest thing from her mind right now. At this point, she wouldn’t care if the cops saw her speeding and tried to pull her over. She would simply speed up even more and lead them on a wild goose chase to the airport. She needed to catch him before he took off or else she would be too late. Of course, she could always take the next plane but she didn’t want to sit on a plane by herself being all anxious and impatient.
Finally, she was at the entrance way to the airport and she slammed on her breaks, glancing around the parking lot. There were no visible spots and she wanted to scream. She felt someone’s gaze on her and she snapped her head towards the window and her eyes widened when she saw Emmett staring at her. Uh oh, she was busted. However, she couldn’t stop the sense of warmth that filled her at the mere sight of him. She hopped out of the car after illegally parking by the curb. Quickly grabbing her car keys and her suitcase, she practically flew through the entrance doors and found herself in the same room as Emmett. “Hey sweetie,” she said cheerfully, trying not to show how nervous she was. She was expecting him to be angry now, but she wouldn’t show him that she was expecting it. She would act all sweet and innocent – just how she got away with everything else.

He watched her as she pulled into the airport parking lot, shaking his head as she parked illegally by the curb. If she thought that she was coming with him… he knew she had caught his notice of her; he could tell by the way she feigned sweet innocence as she approached him. He wasn’t falling for it; he knew she was here and was going to demand he let her come along. But that would ruin the whole surprise! That would ruin everything! Still… now that she was here, how in the world was he going to send her away? He couldn’t exactly be heartless; neither of them had been looking forward to the separation and she had taken it pretty hard. Still…
Emmett watched as she came in through the front doors of the airport, a small – but undoubtedly stuffed – suitcase by her side. Her car keys still dangled from her hand and he frowned. Emmett had, for a couple moments, wondered if she might follow him. However he had hoped she would take him seriously enough to honour his desire to surprise her. Whether she hadn’t been taking him seriously else she was just that bothered by his departure, he wasn’t completely sure. ”Hey sweetie,” she said, approaching him. He rose an eyebrow and pursed his lips. He was all for being funny, but he had to board the plane rather soon and he couldn’t deal with this. She was making it so much harder to leave her. He couldn’t let her come.
”Rose…” he murmured, tempted to pull her into his arms though he refrained. ”Two things. First, you can’t leave your car parked like that. Despite the fact that the fines you rack up can easily be paid… I doubt anyone is going to want to drag your car home from wherever it is that they’re going to take it. Second,” he paused, his plans running through his mind, ”You can’t just come along with me like this. I haven’t got a ticket for you and besides… it’ll ruin the surprise. It’s taken a lot of work to keep it from you, as curious as you are, and I don’t want it to be ruined now…”
He wondered why he couldn’t take her along, his mind racing. Now that she was here, could he really and truly just send her home like that? Would she even go? That was another thing he had neglected to consider; if Rosalie had made up her mind that she was coming, there would be no talking her out of it. She wouldn’t hesitate to throw a scene, if she needed to, in order to get him to take her along. He had been with Rosalie long enough to know she always got what she wanted. Normally, this didn’t bother him. However he was trying so hard to give her the thing that she wanted most and he had wanted it to be a surprise. Now it didn’t look like that was going to happen.
If he took her along, he could at least keep her away from Edward and Alice who, he was pretty sure, were going to have trouble keeping the knowledge they were sure to gain, from Rosalie. She could be persuasive. Or annoying. Whichever she felt like being. Sometimes it amused Emmett – when she was trying to get something out of someone else – but when she was trying to figure out his surprise… He supposed he could just leave her in the hotel while he went out and got the child. He had already spoken with a contact in England and would have the child’s new paper identification as soon as he knew the age and gender of their soon-to-be child. His and Rosalie’s names would both be on the birth certificate. The contact knew what he was doing; they would have everything needed to enrol the child in school, if that was what they chose, and all around take care of it. Obviously they wouldn’t have to worry about healthcare; Carlisle was more than trained.
Would Rosalie be content to sit in a hotel room while he got the child? While he got the ID, got some needed supplies? Granted, he wouldn’t have to get very much; Rosalie would be with him… she would know what to get. It might make that much easier…
”You can’t come,” he continued weakly, though it was obvious that his resolve was lessening, ”I’d have to leave you alone in the hotel for a good amount of time while I’m securing everything. I mean, it wouldn’t be any longer than a day on your own but still…”
The more he thought about it, the more he wanted her there. The flight would be that much more enjoyable. The trip as a whole would be so much more enjoyable. He’d have her to talk to, and she’d have an opportunity to get used to being a mother before they returned home and faced the rest of their family. They’d be able to work things out as their own little family, be able to figure out how they wanted to do things. They’d have a plan before they were pestered with questions from the rest of the Cullens. Emmett just hoped that if no one else supported them, Bella would. After all, Rosalie had been her greatest support when she was pregnant with Nessie and everyone wanted her to get rid of the child. Now Emmett couldn’t imagine their house without the little girl.
There was plenty of room in the Cullen’s new place. More than enough empty rooms. No one would miss one, one that they could commandeer for the child; Rosalie could decorate it however she’d like! Emmett was sure she’d enjoy that. And she loved to shop; surely she and Alice and Bella would like to all go out together; shop for the new little one and Renesmee too! He knew girls seemed to bond over baby shopping – he didn’t know how or why, but at least that was what he had seen on TV.
”You can come,” he said, rather resigned to the fact that she was going to go, whether or not he wanted her to. And he was pretty sure he wanted her to anyway. He wasn’t going to let her know that though and he frowned. ”But only if you move your car – we’ll call someone to come get it.” He nearly smiled to himself – he was pretty sure she’d want to ride back with him, with the baby in the car seat in the back, like a nice happy family. ”And only if you agree to stay back at the hotel when I ask you to.” Feeling like he was coming down pretty hard on her, he sighed but gave her a small smile. ”And Rose? I’m glad you followed – it’ll be a whole lot less lonely with you by my side.” He wrapped his arms around her, giving her a quick hug. When he pulled away, his smile was a little wider. ”Go get your car in a real parking spot and I’ll go get you a ticket. We start boarding soon.”

If Emmett tried to get her to go back home, Rosalie knew what she had to do. She would cross her arms over her chest, stamp her foot down on the ground and begin whining about how she had come all this way just to be with him. If that didn’t work, she had a few backup ways in her mind that she could get him to allow her to go with him. Of course, if she truly wanted she could simply buy a ticket herself and follow him around everywhere. She didn’t need his permission to go along with him, she was her own person and she had proved long ago that she would do whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted to do it. No one stood in the way of what Rosalie wanted, not even Emmett. However, it would’ve been nice to have his consent. Though not necessary, she would’ve liked it.
She waved her hand, dismissing his statement about the car, like she cared. She could easily call a favor in and have someone bring it to Europe if she wanted. Over the years, each of the Cullens had met people and made their own connections in the world today. They could basically have anything they wanted with a single phone call if they pleased. The last time Rose had called a favor in had been a good year ago when she wanted to import a brand new Japanese wrestling video game for Emmett for Christmas last year. Being a vampire, you had certain privileges that humans didn’t even know existed.
She narrowed her eyes at him when he said that she couldn’t go. Now, she was the one getting angry. “I’m going,” she insisted, roughly crossing her arms over her chest and glaring daggers at him. If he thought that he could boss her around and forbid her from tagging along, then he had another thing coming. He should’ve known by now that whatever Rosalie wanted, Rose got. The word “no” wasn’t in her vocabulary and certainly she didn’t take too kindly to people refusing her things. “End of discussion,” she said sourly, regretting that she was getting nasty with him a bit. If she wasn’t at least pleasant to him, then the whole plane ride to wherever it was they were going would be very unpleasant and awkwardly silent. Rose hated fighting with Emmett, but sometimes it had to be done.
Honestly, she didn’t see why he wouldn’t want her to come along. He would certainly be hounded with phone calls from herself and all of the other Cullen members, pissed off at him for leaving and causing Rosalie to slowly go insane. If she had stayed home, what would’ve happened when he came back? Rosalie had been practically going out of her mind when he had just left for fifteen minutes, let alone a half an hour. Certainly, if he had come back a week later she would be a wreck. She didn’t like having to be so dependent on him, but she couldn’t help it and she didn’t feel like taking a trip to a therapist or a psychiatric ward for the week just to survive Emmett’s leaving her.
“You don’t want me there,” she said when he repeated that she couldn’t come, though she heard his argument lessening. If she could make him feel guilty, then surely he would give in and just allow her to come. She wouldn’t mind being locked up in a hotel room all day – she could get a massage, order room service, catch up on her soaps, etc. As long as she was in the same twenty mile radius as her lover, she was content. She did her best sad impression and tried hard not to burst out laughing. She was such a good actress; she had to hand it to herself. “Why don’t you want me to come,” she said in a small voice, desperately trying to break him.
Finally, he cracked and told her she could come. “Duh,” she said, dropping the whole innocent and hurt act, though inwardly, it wasn’t much of an act. She had been slightly insulted when he flat out refused to bring her along. Was she really that unbearable? She wanted to know what was so secretive that he couldn’t share it with her. Sure, it was a surprise for her but he knew that she would find out sooner of later. She also wondered if he would be so heartless as to simply leave her alone at the airport, demanding her to go back home.
If he had refused to buy her a ticket and demanded that she go back home, he would be in for quite the unwelcoming. He probably would’ve thought that she would take the week to cool off and would welcome him with open arms. Oh, she would’ve smacked him upside the head, kicked him out of their bedroom and torn his car apart on top of flat out ignoring him and maybe even flirting with one or two male humans in front of him. Yeah, Rose was harsh when it came to revenge because she usually believed in the saying ‘don’t get mad, get even.’ Hell hath no fury, like a woman scorned, they always said and Rose would’ve been seething mad if Emmett had left her at the airport.
She rolled her eyes when he reached down to hug her and she shrugged him off, still a tad bit icy. He would have to do better than that. Now, she was getting angry at him for even thinking of leaving her behind. She shoved her small, yet bulky, suitcase in his direction and didn’t even wait for him to grab it before she let go. She whirled around and made her way out of the lobby and towards the parking lot, where a group of tourists were admiring her set of wheels. She smirked at them, loving the attention that even tourists seemed incapable of not giving her. “She’s a real beauty, isn’t she,” she told them as she hopped in and raced off, going up and down the aisles before finding a perfect spot in the back of the lot. She got out of the car more carefully, inspecting it and then locking it. She would call Alice later, telling her to bring the car home for her. After all, she didn’t trust humans to not steal a car as beautiful as hers if she were to leave it there overnight.
“Now to Emmett,” she murmured under her breath, pocketing her keys and slowly making her way to the lobby once more. Now that Emmett had given in to her demands, he could wait. Before she had been in a hurry to make her presence known, but she now knew that he wouldn’t leave without her or else the revenge plot would be fully in motion. “Did you get the ticket,” she asked, crossing her arms over her chest as she made her way over to him once more.

He cringed at her anger; that did not bode well for him. They had a rather long flight ahead of them and sitting beside her, angry, was not going to be the most pleasant of things. However, it wasn’t fair that she was so angry with him – why was he getting in trouble for wanting nothing more than surprising her? Immensely surprising her. She would be floored, he was certain, and he had wanted her to be happy. He supposed he shouldn’t have said she couldn’t go – there was nothing that Rosalie couldn’t do. He should know that by now. But his heart had been so set on surprising her, on doing this alone and coming back with child in arms… being her hero, that to let go of that was difficult indeed. It wasn’t as though he had been trying to be cruel.
Emmett was hurt when she rolled her eyes at him as he reached down to hug her. His smile faded and though Rosalie was the one who was genuinely angry, he felt some irritation building up within himself too. She wasn’t being fair! What was wrong with wanting to surprise her? She shoved her suitcase at him and he stepped back, taking it as she stormed off. He was glad he hadn’t decided to leave her behind – he didn’t even think a baby could cool that anger. Suddenly he was beginning to wonder if all of this was a good idea. He shouldn’t have told her so early before he left. He should have rolled out of bed this morning with a little explanation of how he was leaving for a day or so and then hop on a plane before she could stop him.
He didn’t know why this was so important to him. Wasn’t sure why it mattered so much that it was a surprise. He supposed it was because he had gone so long knowing that there was one thing he couldn’t give her and now that he had the opportunity to give it to her, he was going to do it right. She had called him her hero a couple days ago, and Emmett wanted to live up to that. Not that he would be able to with her this angry with him.
Approaching the front counter, he forced a smile as the woman at the desk beamed up at him. ”Hello there, how can I help you today?” She asked. Emmett had never been the dazzler of the family, that was Edward, but that wasn’t to say he was at all exempt from stares and flirting. How he’d love to flirt right back and have Rosalie stumble up on – she deserved it for being so disagreeable. He was only trying to give her an amazing surprise! Where was the crime in that? However, Emmett was more than a little concerned; if she caught him flirting with anyone, in her anger she probably wouldn’t pick up on the fact that he was doing it because he was upset with her. The poor woman working the counter would be in serious danger – as would he.
”I need another ticket to London, England,” he replied, knowing that he’d best keep it short, Rosalie would be back soon. He pulled out his ticket and put it on the counter. ”I need one for this flight, a seat right next to this one.”
”I’m not sure I can do that, sir,” she replied, clicking away on the computer, ”It’s a fairly full flight and while I can get you another seat…”
Emmett had booked his ticket coach; he could more than afford first class but he hadn’t really cared. He wasn’t a drinker and he had just gotten the first seat he had seen. However, now that he thought about it, Rosalie wouldn’t accept anything less than first class. He sighed. He’d be changing tickets around it seemed. ”Do you have two seats in first class together?”
She looked up at him, surprised. First class? ”I do, sir, but that’s quite a bit more and –“
”Money isn’t an issue, miss; I’d like to upgrade this ticket and purchase another one beside it.”
It wasn’t long before Emmett had two first class tickets in his hand, baggage checked, and was standing by the doors again. They’d have to go through security soon. What was taking Rosalie so long? Undoubtedly she was taking her time just to annoy him. She had been mad… he was in for it, big time. He didn’t deserve the anger, but what could he do? If he wanted Rosalie to be happy again, he was going to have to make her think he was particularly sorry… regretful that he had even considered going without her. And honestly, he hadn’t wanted to leave without her. But that had been a part of the plan. He sighed.
She came towards him then, her arms crossed as she looked at him expectantly. She asked if he had gotten the ticket and he nodded, holding up the pair of first class tickets. Handing her one, he wondered what he would be best to say. He could apologize, and he was sorry for causing her so much grief, but would she even buy it? He didn’t know; Rosalie could hold a grudge… though not usually all too long with him. And seeing as he hadn’t left without her, and knew that he wasn’t going to leave her behind the moment he saw her there… maybe he had some hope of being forgiven?
”We should go through security now,” he said lightly, hesitant. Having her angry with him was worse than being away from her; having her right there but inaccessible was pure torture. ”Look, I’m sorry Rose,” he said fondly, giving her a hopeful little smile, ’I shouldn’t have told you not to come. I don’t like being away from you either… this surprise just meant a lot to me. I really wanted you to be actually surprised… I guess I can still surprise you even if you’re there.” Pausing, he didn’t know if she was going to accept his apology. Still, he had hours stuck in a plane with her. Hopefully by the end of the trip they would have made up. Otherwise he might have to secure a separate room for her at the hotel. It was not a happy thought.

Deep down, Rosalie knew that her anger towards Emmett was misplaced. All he had wanted to do was to surprise her and give her what was supposed to be the best gift ever. She knew that he didn’t deserve her wrath, but she had gotten so angry when he had refused to let her come at first. She realized that the only reason she was getting as angry as she was because she was still upset over the whole Emmett having to leave. It didn’t completely settle in her yet that he wasn’t leaving her and that she was actually going with him. She had to lighten up before Emmett changed his mind and hopped on a different plane, or if he got her a seat that wasn’t next to hers. She didn’t feel like holding a grudge for too long and sitting next to him in an awkward and tense silence all the way to England.
When he held up two first class tickets she raised an eyebrow at that. She had seen his ticket before he left and she had even commented on it not being in first class. He had upgraded just for her. Her heart ached with guilt at how she had just treated him and even after treating him like garbage; he had brought her a first class ticket. He truly was amazing and sometimes she felt like she didn’t deserve him, not one bit.
“Security, right,” she said, nodding in agreement and uncrossing her arms to show that she wasn’t feeling as angry anymore as she had been only moments ago. Airport security was extremely tight and it would probably take them a good fifteen to twenty minutes before they were done being thoroughly examined. She already noticed the way that the security guards were carefully watching Emmett. Someone of Emmett’s stature didn’t exactly scream I’m cute and cuddly and wouldn’t harm a fly. In fact, she felt like several people were watching them right now and it wasn’t in a flattering sort of way, more of a cautious way.
She stopped abruptly when he apologized and she sighed. He had nothing to apologize for and yet here he was apologizing when she was the one who had gotten angry over nothing. “No, you have nothing to be sorry about,” she said sadly, still racked with guilt over her previous outburst and icy behavior towards him. “Forgive me,” she asked hopefully, gnawing on her lower lip as she looked up at him hopefully, her golden eyes wide with innocence. Of course, she was feigning some of the innocence that she was currently radiating, but still, some of it was real. “You didn’t deserve my icy attitude and I was only angry because you left in the first place,” she confessed, not waiting for an invitation as she jumped into his arms, wrapping her arms around his middle and burying her face in his chest. She had been rather clingy and needy all morning and she was almost certain that Emmett had never seen that side of her before. She didn’t like that side of herself, but at the moment she didn’t care if she was coming off as a needy wife or anything like that. She had her big old teddy bear back and that was that.
“You’re not going to tell me the surprise, are you,” she said teasingly, trying to lighten the mood. The surprise wasn’t even on her mind anymore, honestly. She was simply happy that she got to tag along with Emmett and maybe she could make this out to be like that mini vacation that he had promised her. After all, they would be alone in Europe without anyone in the room next to them who had the ability to hear and see everything that they were doing. Oh, this was going to be fun! Why didn’t she think of tagging along a lot sooner? She would have saved herself a lot of grief and despair.
“Maybe we could have some fun on the plane,” she said, winking at him as her playful demeanor was back once more. It seemed that her playfulness had escaped her over night, but now it was back and making up for lost time. Oh the thoughts that were rushing through her head now would make even Emmett blush. She was already thinking of all the exotic, adventurous and naughty things that they could do together and just on the plane or in the airport bathroom.
As she was lost in her naughty and in-the-gutter thoughts, she grabbed his hand and laced their fingers together. She picked up her own suitcase this time which was something she had never done before and she dragged him towards the line by the security area. Now, they had to take off their shoes and belts. Ever since the tragedies of September 11th, security had been hyped up at the airports and Rosalie couldn’t blame them. They had all stayed home that day from school and watched in horror on their wide screen television as the tragedy happened. Rosalie had confided in Emmett that she was glad they weren’t human at that period in time or else there was a possibility that they could’ve been affected by it. The aftermath was international and even the vampires were affected by it – now security was hyped up and it wasn’t as easy to get across the country anymore.
The security line went by rather quickly and Rosalie quickly slipped her shoes and her belt off and placed them in bins. She smiled politely at the woman behind the x ray counter table thing but she simply glared at her in return. Rose raised an eyebrow and would’ve glared if it hadn’t been in an airport. You had to be careful about what you said and did nowadays because they were highly suspicious of everything you did. She flashed Emmett a small smile before stepping through the metal detectors and nothing beeped. “Here are your shoes, ma’am,” the woman said plainly, as if bored by her existence and shoving the bin with her shoes and belt in her face. “Thanks,” Rose said through clenched teeth, quickly taking her belongings and waiting on the other side for her husband.

It seemed that Rosalie had changed her tune rather swiftly. One moment he was apologizing and the next she was insisting that he had nothing to be sorry about. He knew she wouldn’t have been saying that if he had left her behind. Regardless, he hadn't left her behind and she was tagging along. He might as well accept her apology and move on with it. "Of course I forgive you," he replied good naturedly, wrapping an arm around her waist. "I suppose I deserved the attitude; at least I know I'd better not think about going anywhere far without you again."He chuckled, storing the information away for future reference. He hadn't ever had any reason to go anywhere without her; he'd definitely learned that if he ever had reason again, he'd better figure out something around it.
He shook his head, amused. "Nope, I'm not going to give you any hints at all; there is no way I'm telling you the surprise. You're still going to have to wait." He was more than willing to let the mood be lightened -- Rosalie was trying her hardest. Emmett didn't like being at odds with his wife any more than she seemed to like it. It would be way more enjoyable for the pair of them if they were getting along... way more enjoyable...
He was completely amused by Rosalie, who suggested that they have some fun on the plane. He was pretty sure that he had a good idea of what she was thinking and while he wasn't against it, per se, he was pretty sure he'd be just as happy sitting with her. Actually, that was probably a lie. He laughed quietly to himself as they made their way towards the airport security. He was already getting looks and he knew he was likely to get stopped at several points in the airport before he got on the plane.
It wasn't long before they were slipping off their shoes and belts, dropping them in ugly plastic bins. Rosalie smiled at the woman behind the counter but Emmett noticed that the woman didn't seem all too pleased to be there, or to see them. Rosalie passed easily through the metal detector without setting it off and Emmett stepped closer. He rolled his eyes, noticing how the people manning the counter were already leaning over to press their button.
Emmett knew, having been in enough airports, that you weren't supposed to bring metal through the detectors. They would haul you off to the side and search you - even if you only had a couple coins in your pockets and forgot to take them out. However, forgetting to remove all metal from your person was not the only way to get pulled to the side and searched. In fact, on the side of the counter where they thought it was impossible to see - but his particularly good vision helped. When someone who looked a little suspicious passed through, they'd hit the button and the little beeper would go off whether or not it really had any reason to.
He had been on enough planes to know exactly what he could or could not bring on board. And he never brought any of those things along. Still, he was stopped every time, without fail.
Today was no exception.
Emmett stepped through the detector and the alarm went off. Someone was in front of him in moments with their hand-held detector and telling him to stick his arms out. He complied, though he was irritated. As always. Just because he looked a little... dangerous, doesn't mean that he was. As he expected, the hand-held device didn't beep and he was free to move on and join Rosalie. Grabbing his shoes from the woman who passed them to him -- he could see a hint of interest -- he grabbed his belt and slung it back in place. Giving Rosalie a small smile, he took her arm and led her towards their terminal. He just wanted to be on the plane and in the air.
Flying didn’t frighten him like it did some people. A crash wouldn’t kill him, or Rosalie either. They’d be fine and they’d go along with their lives as though they had been two rather lucky survivors. He actually liked flying; you got to see things that you didn’t get to see on the ground. He was always amused looking out the window during take off and landing.
”Gotta love security, hmm?” He mumbled when they were out of hearing distance. He was always careful not to say anything more than necessary when going through; he was notoriously known as quite the joker and American security really didn’t like that very much. Not after everything that had happened. He supposed he couldn’t blame them for being secure, however, they didn’t have to be so foul. Rolling his eyes he held Rosalie tightly against his side as they walked on. As they went on, he couldn’t remember how he’d thought he’d be alright without her. He was glad she had come.
Sitting down on one of the seats by where they’d be boarding, Emmett pulled Rosalie down onto his lap and grinned up at her. ”I have a feeling you’re going to make this trip particularly interesting. And I can’t wait until you see your surprise – you’ll be speechless with disbelief.” Laughing softly to himself, he wondered how she’d react. He suspected she might be initially angry for keeping something like this from her. However Emmett was nearly certain that she’d quickly warm to the idea, considering how badly she wanted a baby and all.
”Now boarding flight 396 to Boston,” a voice called over the intercom. Emmett rose and grinned at Rosalie. ”We have a stop over in Boston and we’ll catch a flight to London from there.”

Rosalie narrowed her eyes dangerously as she watched the woman behind the counter press the button to purposely make the alarm go off. Rose was well aware that they did that every single time Emmett passed through so that they would have an excuse as to thoroughly check him. However, seeing her husband slightly irritated and being scanned with a portable metal detector turned her on somewhat. She was often turned on by the strangest things, but nonetheless, it was rather intriguing. She nodded at his remark about having to love security. “They so did that on purpose,” she murmured to him once they were out of ear shot of the security guards.
She would just be happy once they were securely on the plane and away from the prying eyes of curious onlookers. She didn’t like the way that they sized Emmett up just based on his stature. She had always joked that he could pass for a football player, but she wasn’t laughing right about now. Just because he was much more built and stronger than any human they’d ever seen before didn’t mean anything. Emmett would never hurt a fly, though she knew that the humans would find that hard to believe. It was just another reminded that first impressions were everything to humans and humans judged everything on looks. Of course, Rosalie couldn’t blame them because that’s exactly what she did as well.
Finally, they were walking down the ramp to board the plane and Rosalie remained silent, keeping Emmett close to her and she noticed he was doing the same. It seemed neither of them wanted to let the other one stray too far away for too long. Perhaps, it had been killing Emmett to leave just as much as it had been hurting her to watch him leave. Deep down inside, she had a small fear that if he left, he wouldn’t come back. She knew that it was impossible and he would never do that to her, but it was still a small fear that was always in the back of her mind. She was constantly thinking that Emmett deserved someone much more caring and kinder than her.
“I’m sure I’ll love it,” she insisted about the surprise. Right now, she didn’t want to think about the surprise. She just wanted to close her eyes and rest. Of course, the closest thing to sleeping for a vampire was closing your eyes and simply just relaxing. That’s exactly what Rose wanted to do. It took a lot out of her emotionally to have to say goodbye to Emmett that morning and then tracking him down at the airport and practically having to beg him to take her with him didn’t give her any extra energy. After a few hours of simply resting and not moving, she would be rejuvenated and as good as new.
She giggled when Emmett pulled her into his lap. She noticed that her giggle caused several first class residents to glance curiously at her and she scowled at them. They were probably wondering how a bunch of teenagers had gotten first class and she even wondered if a few of them were thinking that they were eloping. She giggled at the thought and turned to whisper in Emmett’s ear, “I think the old coot next to us thinks we’re eloping or something. She winked at me,” she said, trying not to laugh. It was nice to just be alone with Emmett. She sort of felt like they were escaping for awhile which was a good feeling.
“Do you have first class tickets for the ride home,” she asked curiously as she heard the voice over the intercom. She often wondered if the voice was prerecorded because all the times she’d ridden an airplane before; it seemed like the same exact voice that was feeding her directions on plane safety and whatnot. Originally, Rose had been terrified of flying – everything about it.
The first time Rosalie and Emmett had flown had been for their first honeymoon and Rosalie had spent the entire time curled up in Emmett’s lap, her face buried in his neck for she had been too afraid to move. She had a feeling that Emmett enjoyed her reaction a lot more than what would’ve been considered appropriate at that point. However, now she was used to flying and it didn’t make a difference to her whether or not she was up in the air, on the ocean or on the ground. As long as she was with Emmett, she didn’t give a damn about anything else. Plus, there was that whole advantage of being a vampire and she knew that if the plane did crash, they would be unharmed. Of course, they’d have to find a way of getting back to land and whatnot, but that wouldn’t be too tough.
“Boston,” she repeated, a small smile forming on her face now. “Remember the last time we were in Boston,” she asked, winking at him. She was recalling the first trip they had ever made to Massachusetts for Rosalie had insisted that they visit the famous Salem, Massachusetts and Boston was right near there. They had actually wound up having sex for the first time in a public restroom in Boston.
Rosalie and Emmett had quite the history together and they each could recite stories upon stories of the wild and crazy things they had done together. “I was thinking,” she began, about something she had been talking about with Esme earlier that week. “Maybe when we get settled we could adopt a baby or something,” she said, gnawing on her lower lip. “I mean I know it’s nothing compared to having my own child, but I think you’d make a – oh nevermind,” she said, instantly regretting having said anything. “Forget I said anything,” she said quickly, glancing down at her hand. She had always been the one complaining about not being able to have a child that she wasn’t exactly sure what Emmett’s view on the situation was. She knew that he wanted to give her a child simply because that’s what she wanted, but did he want one as well for his own sake? She never wondered whether or not he had even wanted to have kids of his own.

Even Emmett wasn’t oblivious to the looks that they were getting from others around them, however Rosalie seemed to pick up on more than he did. He was far too busy staring rather adoringly at her. He never really understood how one moment she could be seething angry wit him, and ten minutes later she was giggling as he pulled her into his lap. He kept a little, contented smile on his face as he watched her, in love with every bit of her. She could be a handful, at times – demanding the sun, the moon and the stars. But that definitely didn’t even matter… he adored her so completely.
”If they think we’re eloping,” he whispered, his lips brushing up against her cheek, ”we might as well make the most of it. If we’re eloping, we can be expected to be a little brazen about it.” Lightly running his fingers along the sides of her torso, he eventually wrapped his arms around her stomach and held her close. Brushing his lips – several times – across her cheek, he placed a couple kisses there along the length of her jaw. He didn’t care who was watching.
She asked then, curiosity in her voice, if he had first class tickets for the ride home. He smiled down at her, nodding. He did. He was going to have to find out if he was going to need to get another one for the baby. Probably, unless Rosalie wanted to hold the child the whole way. Then again, that wasn’t completely out of the question. Who knew if Rosalie would be willing to let the child down once she had him or her?
He grinned as she began to spoke, reminding him about the last time they were in Boston. She didn’t technically remind him about the last time. Close enough though; his memory didn’t really need reminding. The last time they were in Boston had been quite the experience, quite the fun time. In fact, just thinking about it made him want to find a private place and give Rosalie a little special attention. It wasn’t nice of her to remind him of that sort of thing; not when they were about to board the plane. ”We’ve got a couple hours in Boston,” he whispered teasingly, ”If you want to have a go at re-living some of our Boston experiences.”
Emmett held on to her, clung to her, half disbelieving that he had even considered leaving. He needed Rosalie as much, if not more, than she needed him. There was no way he could possibly express it and that’s why he rarely bothered trying – at least, to anyone but her. There wasn’t a day that went by that Emmett didn’t tell Rosalie just how much he adored here. Utterly and completely.
”I was thinking,” Rosalie said, catching Emmett’s attention, ”Maybe when we get settled we could adopt a baby or something.” She continued talking but Emmett had faded out. If he could get any whiter than he already was, he would have. Putting that aside, he decided that it only showed him just how much he had to go through with this. She was still wanting that baby and she was doing the best that she could to keep from bothering him over it. It was one of the most selfless things that she’d done – he was surprised she hadn’t already demanded that he go and get her a child. Honestly, she always demanded everything else that she wanted. Why hadn’t she put the pressure on him earlier? In fact, at the moment, she wasn’t even putting the pressure on him now.
”There isn’t anything wrong with talking about what you want,” he murmured, watching the people around them rise and file towards the tunnel to the plane. He rose to his feet and pulled her into his arms. ”Tell me what sort of child you’d want; maybe one day it’ll be a reality.” He grinned, an idea crossing his mind. ”We have a whole plane ride and I give you permission to talk about a baby as much as you’d want – as long as you don’t get all depressed on me again; cheering you up is going to be much harder in public on an airplane.”
He’d get her to tell him all about the child that she’d want – boy or girl? Blonde or brunette? Infant or toddler? He’d keep that information in his mind and as soon as they got to England they’d check into a hotel and he’d go on a search to find Rosalie’s perfect baby. Well, he might take a day or so to really, truly apologize for every considering leaving her behind.
Yes, while she had struck rather close to the heart of his surprise, he could use that to his advantage.
Emmett presented his ticket and identification, nodding as it was checked and he was waved on. He waited for Rosalie and took her arm gently as he led her down the tunnel to the plane. At the end of the tunnel they were greeted by a stewardess who looked from Rosalie to Emmett and back to Emmett.
”Good afternoon, sir,” she looked at Rosalie, ”miss. Can I help you find your seats?”
Emmett wrapped an arm around Rosalie’s waist and smiled politely at the stewardess. He took his ticket and showed her. The young woman’s eyes widened a little and she glanced at Rosalie’s ticket as well. ”First class,” Emmett said with a small smile.
”Of course, she replied, motioning them forward. ”If you’ll just come this way…”
Emmett followed, his arm still wrapped securely around Rosalie’s waist. It wasn’t long before they were seated in their spacious spots, more than enough room to move around and stretch out. He was pretty sure that by the end of the flight, she wouldn’t still be in her seat. She’d probably be sharing his with him. Not that he minded, not one bit. He held her hand tightly, as though to reassure himself that she was still there. He was pretty sure that if she hadn’t come, it would only be at this point that it began to hit him that he was separated from her. He wasn’t sure if he would have been able to take it. He might have gotten off the plane and re-booked.
”I’m glad you’re here,” he whispered over the flight attendants lecture. ”I don’t know what I’d do without you here.”

Rosalie smiled fondly at the thought of them eloping. That idea hadn’t crossed her mind yet, so perhaps while they were in Europe they would tie the knot. She had always wanted to have a European wedding and even if it would just be the two of them present, that was fine by her. However, she didn’t voice her eloping thoughts yet since she had just thrown the thought of adoption out there. One thing at a time, she decided. She didn’t want to give Emmett a scare or anything. “Hmm, brazen is good,” she informed him, closing her eyes as she felt him feather kisses across her jaw line. Yes, perhaps pretending to be an eloping couple would not only keep their cover from being blown but it would also allow them to be a bit…more playful than usual on the plane. She highly doubted that anyone on the plane would bother them, especially if they thought they were eloping. How rude would that be? People seemed to be more empathetic to things having to do with love and romance.
She raised her eyebrow and sent him an amused look at the offer to repeat their last activities in Boston. “I think we’d need more than just a few hours to fully repeat what happened their last time,” she said, a sly grin spreading across her face. She had loved Boston dearly for it had reminded her of her old town that she used to live in as a human. Nowadays, there were very few places that reminded her of her human days. While, the last bit of her human life had been pure torture, she had a pretty good life regarding the thought of money and having friends. She had been popular and a socialite as a human.
Her eyes widened slightly with disbelief at shock as she allowed herself to be pulled up to a standing position beside Emmett. “W-what,” she asked, unwilling to believe that he was even considering this. She had predicted that his reaction would be one of shock and that he would need time to think on it, but he practically told her that maybe one day it would be a reality. “Really,” she asked, still dumbfounded as a wide grin spread across her face – not that she minded. Her whole idea of adopting a child was becoming a reality, especially now that Emmett was on the same page as her. When he asked her what kind of child she wanted, she was dumbfounded. She had never thought of details of what she wanted her child to be like; she had simply just wanted a healthy baby – that was it. Just like any other mother to be, she didn’t mind if it was a boy or a girl or anything like that, as long as it was hers.
She was still in a slight daze when he promised that she could gush about wanting a child the whole plane ride there. If it had been this easy to get Emmett on board with her plan, then she would have told him ages ago, maybe even perhaps years ago when the thought had first crossed her mind. She waited patiently while Emmett showed the stewardess his identification and she did the same, not even looking at the lady who told her to have a safe trip. She was now racking her brain for an image of what her perfect child would be and one was immediately brought up in front of her mind.
Rose couldn’t help but smirk as the woman looked a bit shocked that they actually had first class. What was so disbelieving that they could be in first class? She silently followed the woman, still remaining close to Emmett’s side as they made their way towards the familiarly spacious first class wing. It was surprisingly empty as Emmett took a seat and she took one right next to his. “I’m glad I’m here too. I was beginning to go insane when you left,” she said, jokingly lightly but there was more truth behind her words than he might realize.
“Blonde,” she finally said, not bothering to pay attention to the flight attendant’s safety lecture that would be of no use to her even if they were in a plane crash. She and Emmett would be able to walk away without a scratch on them and it wasn’t like this was the first time that they were flying – they knew all the safety procedures already. “I want a blonde baby boy. A few months old or maybe a year,” she said, squeezing Emmett’s hand tightly as she began to get a distant look on her face, trying to bring up the image of her perfect child once more.
“What about you,” she asked suddenly, becoming aware that she was the only one that would be gushing about the baby for the entire ride here. She wondered if her perfect child would be the same as Emmett’s. Who knew – maybe he wanted a daughter? Maybe he wanted twins? Her eyes widened at the thought of twins and she smirked, reminding herself that one baby would be enough for her. She simply wanted the chance to be a mother and for Emmett to be a father.
She was silently grateful when the flight attendant left the first class compartment and was through with her safety speech. It was an annoyance to have to listen to the same speech over and over again, especially when it was pointless in the end. She highly doubted a small seatbelt would save a person’s life if the plane lost control and was plummeting towards the ocean. If anything, the seatbelt would hold them in place so that when they went underwater, they wouldn’t be able to swim or anything. Well, thank goodness Rosalie didn’t have to worry about that or else she’d be clutching the edges of her seat in sheer terror.
“How long is the flight,” she asked suddenly, hoping it wasn’t one of those like six hour flights. What would she do for six hours? Well she had an idea of what she would want to do for six hours, but she had a feeling that the flight attendants would get suspicious if Emmett and Rosalie remained in the bathroom for longer than twenty minutes at a time. It wouldn’t be the first time that they had the flight attendants scolding them for using the lavatories for their personal usage.

Emmett was amazed that she was so surprised. Had he always seemed unreceptive to the idea of a baby? Had he, unintentionally, made her think he didn’t want a child? This troubled him; he knew how much she wanted a baby and if he had made her think that he wasn’t open to the idea… well, he didn’t know how he could have possibly done such a thing. Sure, the idea of never having kids didn’t nearly kill him, the way it did Rosalie. He wasn’t going to sink into pits of despair over it. When he was younger, his idea of his future had certainly always included a wife and children though. That was just the way he had been raised.
Emmett wanted children, definitely. And he would have been thrilled if he could have had real, biological children with Rosalie. But as that wasn’t an option, he wasn’t the sort to stress too much over it. Not if Rosalie hadn’t cared, any way. He’d be happy if he had them and would be fine if they didn’t. He knew, however, that his wife didn’t think the same way. She wanted a baby, more than anything. A child to raise and call her own. He was pretty sure that once she had one, she would eventually want more. This didn’t bother Emmett either. He’d be happy however she was.
He felt Rosalie’s eyes on him, heard her tell him what sort of child she’d like. This was immensely helpful to Emmett who had been very undecided about which child he might take. But as she began to describe the baby she’d like, he committed the information to memory and nodded. Blonde and a boy, a few months old to maybe a year. That sounded fine to Emmett who figured that a child a couple months old might sleep better than one who was only a couple weeks old – he wasn’t sure he wanted to give up too much of his nights with Rosalie. He supposed he’d have to deal though; he already knew his schedule was going to be shifting a lot. Good thing they didn’t need to get any sleep.
She paused then and he turned, tilting his head to get a better look at her. Curious, he wondered why she stopped. ”What about you?” She asked and Emmett smiled, settling back against the seat. ”That sounds perfect; a boy would be fun and I don’t really care what he looks like.” He really didn’t care what the child looked like, blonde or a red head or a brunette. He was, however, liking the idea of a boy. He was pretty sure that a boy would be fun. He was surprised, however, that she wouldn’t want a little girl. Or at least, didn’t now. Wouldn’t she find a little girl all the more fun – another person she could dress up? Then again; boy or girl, the child would be the best dressed child in Quillayute.
The plane started to coast along on the runway when Rosalie asked him how long the flight would be. She had wanted to come along – she had to be prepared for rather long flights. It would be infinitely better with her here, however. At least he’d have someone to talk to.
”The flight to Boston is about five and a half hours because we’re flying direct.” He paused, trying to remember. ”There’s a three hour layover in Boston, and then a six and a half hour flight from there to London. I was lucky; I got one of the few direct flights from Boston to London – we only have to stop once; most of the flights stop two or three times.” He knew she might not be pleased with the length; they were in for quite the time in planes. It wasn’t as though there was anything he could do, however, to make the flight go faster. He wondered how he was going to distract her for all that time. They were pretty limited to what they could do on the plane, which was frustrating, and he supposed she hadn’t brought anything along to amuse herself… she seemed like she had been in quite the rush to get to him before he left.
He was happy that she was happy; the idea of adoption seemed either new to her, or she had only just decided she could talk to him about it. However, he had thought of it years ago and had been thinking it over for some time. However, he’d come to the conclusion that it just wasn’t possible – even though he was telling her they could try it some time. He just wanted her to be in a good mood until they got there; if she got too depressed over not having a child while on the plane, he’d be tempted to tell her what he was doing.
Adoption agencies were very particular with who they allowed to adopt. Rosalie and Emmett were posing as high school students; there was no way that any agency was going to give a baby to two high school students. Sure, they were posing as seniors, but they weren’t married, they lived at home… Well, they were married – they had been, several times. But according to their story, they definitely weren’t. They were two high school students who, while in love, were not married nor moved out on their own. Adoption agencies only gave children to married, established couples. At least, usually. Occasionally they’d give to a single woman if she was established and could prove she was ready to be a mother. But they investigated the potential family so closely that there was no way the Cullens could take it. No, adoption definitely wasn’t going to work. Good thing he had other plans in mind. He’d tell Rosalie that the adoption route wasn’t going to work, but only after he’d given her a baby and reassured her that he’d do it again if she wanted another one.
The flight took off and they were making the steady climb into the skies as Emmett broke free of his thoughts. Smiling reassuringly at Rosalie, he took her hand and lifted it to his lips, kissing it lightly. He could be silly, showy and rather childish at times – but he loved Rosalie more than anything and anyone around them could see that.
He wondered how long he could last before he unbuckled her seatbelt for her and pulled her into his lap. He was glad for the spacious first class seats and the rather few people around. There weren’t a lot of seats, even fewer taken, and there were little half walls all over making each little section rather private. If he shifted slightly and pulled Rosalie onto his lap, he was pretty sure that no one else would be able to see much of them at all. Could come in handy.
Soon the plane had straightened out and the seatbelt sign went off. Emmett, glad to be up in the air and on the way, gave Rosalie’s hand a little squeeze. She was going to love her surprise, he knew it. He just had to think through the details; would he grab things for the child while he had the kid with him? Or would he go back to the hotel, hand Rosalie the baby and then go out? Or, would he take her and the baby with to get things? Would she want to go? He had no idea. He’d have to get all the necessary ID before he brought the child to Rosalie though; he didn’t want to be wandering around in London without proper paperwork for the child. He didn’t want any problems with his plans.
”Anything for you, sir, miss?” The flight attendant asked, coming around with a cart of food, drinks, pillows and blankets. Emmett looked from Rosalie to the young woman and smiled a small smile.
”A pillow and blanket for the both of us, I suppose, nothing else for me.” he said, looking mischievously at Rosalie. Of course, they would be doing no sleeping. However, the pillows were to keep Rosalie comfortable and the blankets… well, if they got bored, they could be used to hide whatever else it might be that they were doing. Never hurt to be prepared. The girl nodded and handed him the requested pillows and blankets, then looked questioningly at Rosalie.

She smiled affectionately at Emmett. She should’ve known that he wouldn’t care what kind of child they got, as long as she was happy. She sometimes still couldn’t believe that she was so lucky to have him in her life. At times, she had to pinch herself to make sure she was still awake and wasn’t dreaming. Most of the time, she felt like she was living a dream and she would wake up one morning, stuck in a horrid marriage with Royce King. At the time, she had thought she was in love with the boy, but she later found out that she had only been in love with what he represented and what he stood for. He stood for the perfect gentleman of her time, her perfect mate in her own eyes – rich, handsome and high on the social scale. That was it. She didn’t care that he was an alcoholic, that he flirted with several other females right in front of her and she certainly didn’t mind that he had a bland personality. He was a pretty face and what more did she need? Oh, how naïve and foolish she had been.
Emmett opened her eyes to what true love was and she felt like she almost didn’t deserve it. She wasn’t oblivious – she knew that she was a complete bitch as a human and she had always believed that if you were bad in life, you would have a horrid afterlife. Rosalie had been atrocious in her human life and yet she was so blessed in her after life. She often didn’t understand fate, but she didn’t want to question it since it led her straight to Emmett. Maybe they were destined to be with one another and maybe the reason she “fell” for Royce was to find her way to Emmett.
She scrunched up her nose in disgust at the flight time and she grumbled under her breath, hoping Emmett hadn’t heart. “Great,” she said in an obviously fake, sugar sweet voice and a forced smile. She didn’t exactly have the smallest attention span, but she couldn’t possibly entertain herself for five hours at a time. However, no matter how long and uncomfortable the flight would be, she didn’t regret coming at all. She silently wondered what if would’ve been like if she had missed his plane or if she had stayed behind, as he had proposed. Would be come back to her, claiming that he couldn’t leave or would he be able to go off on his own.
She immediately decided that she would never allow herself to be able to find out the answer to that question for she made a promise to herself that she would never be parted from Emmett. “Don’t think you’re going to ever go anywhere without me from now on,” she informed him, slightly possessively though she didn’t care. She raised an eyebrow in his direction, awaiting his reaction and almost daring him to question her. Oh, he would be foolish to defy her current words for she was being deathly serious. She didn’t want to feel the loss and despair again that she had been feeling that morning. It had almost been like someone was pulling out her heart and she didn’t want to feel that ever again under any circumstances.
She tried to scoot as close to Emmett as possible when he kissed her hand but she glared at her current restraints. She stared longingly at the seatbelt sign, waiting for it to be turned off so that she could slip out of her seat and sneak into Emmett’s. She was pretty sure that he wouldn’t mind, though if he did she didn’t care. She wanted to be as close to him as possible right now. She was slightly annoyed that the flight attendant disturbed them as soon as the seatbelt light flashed off, though she didn’t show it whatsoever on her face.
She raised an eyebrow in amusement as Emmett had requested a few pillows and a blanket. “Nothing for me, thank you though,” she said, smiling politely at the attendant who nodded and walked off towards the next first class customer. “And whatever would you need a blanket for,” she asked teasingly, knowing very well what the blanket would be used for. She glanced over her shoulder to make sure no eyes were on them and she clicked her seatbelt off immediately. She quickly switched seats so that she was sitting beside Emmett and the seat was big enough to almost sit them both…almost. Rose was now half on Emmett’s lap and half on the seat as well, though she didn’t mind. “I’m going to entertain myself,” she informed him, adjusting herself so that her back wasn’t to Emmett and she had access to him.
“Like this,” she added, bending down for she was a bit higher than her husband on the seat and brushing her lips against his. She sighed deeply at the impact and she was almost certain that if she was human her heart would’ve been beating wildly and her knees would’ve given way if she had been standing. She sometimes wondered if Emmett would have the same effect on her if they were human, but she didn’t mind not knowing for if they were human, they wouldn’t have all eternity together. While she longed to be able to have children with Emmett and to grow old with him, they still had a pretty good future together – all of eternity specifically.
She tilted her head to the side, deepening the kiss and so that she could get better access as her tongue slipped past his lips and she explored the contents of his mouth. It was definitely one of the hungrier, more passionate kisses that they had shared since she was finally releasing all the want and longing she had been feeling once he left that morning. She didn’t mind that they were probably getting several curious and embarrassed looks from the other passengers. All that she cared about was having her Emmett beside her and that was that.
Almost to make sure that he was really there, she reached up and ran a hand through his hair. She giggled at the way the strands tickled her palm and she slowly pulled away from Emmett after realizing that humans needed air and the humans surrounding them would wonder how long she could kiss him before coming up for air. For reassurance, she pretended to gasp loudly for hair and she had a big goofy grin on her face. “So what do you think of my ideas to entertain myself,” she asked teasingly, winking down at him. Without waiting for his response, she lowered her head towards his once more and kissed him passionately again. Oh, she could never grow tired of this.

Emmett could hear the seriousness in Rosalie’s voice; he would be in for a lot of trouble if he tried to go anywhere without her anytime in the future. Even hunting was going to be limited; at least, hunting without her around. He enjoyed hunting with “the guys” – Carlisle, Edward and Jasper – Jasper especially – but he was pretty sure even that was going to be out of the picture for a while too. Not that he blamed her; Emmett wasn’t totally sure he would have been able to even really leave her behind. It was easier to say that he could do it. Whether or not he actually could… that was a whole other story.
”What would I need a blanket for?” He asked in response to her question, an amused smile crossing his face. ”What do you think? I’m sure you can come up with something interesting in that pretty head of yours.” He watched with a silly grin as Rosalie undid her seatbelt the moment the attendant was gone and moved out of her seat – joining him in his. She was half on the seat, half sitting on him, and he didn’t mind it a bit. In fact, he would be more than happy to have her sitting completely on his lap. Any sort of contact was most welcome.
Rosalie told him that she was going to entertain herself and he rose an eyebrow in mock curiosity. ”How are you going to do that?” He was pretty sure he knew what she was up to as she bent slightly to be more at his level. Her lips brushed against his and before he had a chance to respond, at all, her kiss strengthened and grew. She was eager to be close to him, he could tell, and he didn’t mind a moment of it.
He returned her kisses with the same, if not more, desire, wondering if Rosalie had thought about coming up for “air”. It was a very human thing, which of course they were not, but something that might be noticed by those around them. However, in that moment he was rather rapidly losing care about anything but kissing her, holding her. He felt her fingers running through his hair, heard her light giggle. Emmett regretting how she pulled away, wanting more. He wanted more of her kisses, wanted to hold her tightly against himself. As it was, his arms were rather trapped; one stuck under her on his lap – not that he minded the contact – and one stuck behind her along his side.
She asked him what he thought of her idea and he opened his mouth to answer – only to be caught by her kisses all over again. Not that he minded. He definitely didn’t mind. At all. Emmett managed to free his arms, shifting his beloved only slightly, and wrapped them both around Rosalie to hold her closer. Toying with ends of her hair, he fleetingly wondered if anyone else was watching them. He was tempted to break away and look but that would involve moving away from Rosalie. But he wasn’t sure he wanted to do that.
It came to the point, however, that he didn’t have much of a choice. Just like Rosalie had needed to break away so they kept with the human persona, it appeared that this time that was going to be his job. He shifted only slightly – she was practically on top of him, he couldn’t really pull away. He didn’t really want to move away but they couldn’t push their luck too much. Plus they needed to act human. That degree of a make out session would tire out the average sort of person.
”That was an excellent way to entertain yourself,” he murmured, staring rather adoringly – and more than a little lustfully – up at her. ”Excellent, excellent, most definitely.” Placing his hands to either side of her waist, he held her firmly in place, studying her with a goofy, wide grin. ”I can’t believe I considered leaving without you; I can’t wait until we get to London – your gift might have to wait a little. When I get you into that hotel room…” He trailed off, shaking his head. Emmett was rather convinced that what he was thinking probably wasn’t suitable to be uttered among a plane of people.
He glanced to the side, amused by the stares that they were getting. Some of them were stares of amusement, some of disgust. The wealthy didn’t seem to like the public displays of attention. Things had changed since when Emmett was a human – the social classes weren’t quite as distinct and the rules of propriety had changed. It seemed now that anything went. Still, there were those who held true to older values or still felt like they had the right to try and influence the behaviour of those around them.
Emmett didn’t really like those sorts of people.
He wondered how much opposition he’d get if he tried to put up a blanket or two to give them a little more privacy. The attendants might have an issue with that. Probably less of an issue with that though, than with them taking up the plane facilities for the whole trip. He smirked, wondering what they would even do about it. It wasn’t as though they were any sort of threat to security. Even if he looked like he could be.
”And while I absolutely love your way of entertainment, it’s a shame we can’t do that the whole way there. People might have an issue with that.” Grinning, he shrugged. ”Not that I really care. I just like a little variety.” Impishly, he ran his fingers through her hair – knowing just how much she hated to have it messed up. Especially in public.

She couldn’t help the wide grin that spread across her face or the way that her spirits soared when Emmett informed her that he rather liked the way she entertained herself. Perhaps she had found a way to entertain herself for the entire plane right to Europe? She contemplated that for a moment and decided that she didn’t mind playing this little game at all. Rather, she enjoyed it. She groaned when he pulled away from her and if he hadn’t been speaking, she would’ve lunged for him again. Most of the time, she was able to hold her composure and to be able to control herself, but they were alone, without their family on an airplane by themselves…naughty thoughts were running through Rosalie’s head and there was just so many times she could deny herself of those thoughts.
She groaned at the mention of him leaving her and she reached upwards, capturing his ear in her mouth. She playfully nipped at it and murmured in his ear, her teeth still wrapped around his earlobe, “You’re never leaving me again.” Earlier, she had been somewhat teasing but now she meant it. She didn’t like the idea of having Emmett out of her sight and she wouldn’t have that again. If she had to buy him a leash of some sort in order keep him near her then that’s exactly what she would do. She was putting her foot down and what she said went. It would take awhile before she would be calm and comfortable enough to allow him to go hunting once more with the boys.
“Oh that hotel room is going to be a mess by the time we’re through with it,” she said, winking slyly at him. She licked her lips instinctively at the mere thought of what they would do in that hotel room. If the discontinuation of Emmett’s sentence meant what she thought it meant, she had a feeling that neither of them would be leaving the hotel room for at least the first two nights. There were many things that she wanted to get done while she was in Europe such as shopping, sight seeing and of course, stalking Emmett and making sure he was safe and whatnot. However, she could delay her expeditions for a little while for personal, private time alone with Emmett.
She couldn’t remember the last time it had just been the two of them. Sure, they often spent alone time in their bedroom but they truly weren’t alone, alone. Edward and Alice definitely knew what was going on within the four walls of their bedroom which didn’t really bother Emmett or Rosalie, but still it wasn’t like they were truly alone. Plus, all of the vampires in the household at sensitive hearing, so if Rose whispered anything in the heat of the moment to Emmett, it would be heard around the house.
She groaned when he ruined her fun, informing her that they couldn’t be in this position the whole ride there. She had a feeling that if she were to repeat her previous moment’s actions a few more times, he would break down from that argument and be the one offering to lead the way to the airplane restroom. However, she knew he was right and the fact that he was the one telling her this was a bit of a shock. Usually, Rose was the one having to tell Emmett to back off because they were in public. It just goes to show you how perfectly the two of them were for one another.
She inwardly winced when he ran a hand through her hair – already knowing that she hated it when he messed it up in public. “Emmett,” she whined, though it wasn’t in an irritating voice but a small, cute voice. “Next time lets take a private jet so we can have it all to ourselves,” she said, already getting ideas for their next little vacation. “I’ve always wanted to try things…flying,” she informed him, lowering her lips down to his jaw and pressing kisses across his jaw line.
It was going to be a very long flight and she knew that. Though, she didn’t mind teasing Emmett. It was already frustrating her that they couldn’t do anything on the plane without arousing suspicion and annoying people – why not frustrate him as well? They could be irritated together, she figured. Plus, she wanted an excuse to remain in his lap.
Right now, she didn’t care that she was getting jealous looks from the teenage girl who couldn’t be older than fifteen who had been eyeing Emmett up. It served her right for gawking at a married man. “Let’s get married in Europe,” she whispered in his ear, nibbling on his earlobe once more which was one of his few weak spots. She was the only one who knew where he was ticklish and which weak spot would make him surrender immediately and she took pride in that little fact. That information was hers and hers only.
“Please,” she said, detaching her lips from his ear and resting her forehead against his. She gazed into his eyes and almost found herself getting lost in those orbs of his. Why hadn’t she thought of crashing his plane ride earlier than today, she mentally asked herself. Well, at least she had come up with the brilliant idea of chasing after him. She nuzzled her nose against his, waiting for his response, though she knew that he wouldn’t object to anything of the sort seeing as how he wasn’t in any position currently to reject her.

”That hotel will be a mess, indeed,” he murmured in her ear, as he continued to run his fingers through her hair. He loved teasing her in such a way; tormenting her like that was great fun. He felt her wince, waited for her to shrug him away. She didn’t, though he could tell she wasn’t particularly pleased that he was messing with her perfect appearance. Messy hair or not, he’d still think she was the most gorgeous woman in the world. It was safe to assume that just about everyone else would agree with him on that account.
She asked him if they could take a private jet next time they travelled, so they could have the space all to themselves. Amused, his brushed the back of his hand across her cheek. He was about to speak when she continued, catching his attention. ”I’ve always wanted to try things… flying,” He stared at her, eyebrow raised, wishing they were alone at that moment – those suggestions of hers always got his mind racing. He was pretty sure that was why she did that sort of thing to him when he couldn’t make good on those thoughts of his; she liked to torment him. It wasn’t spiteful, certainly, but it seemed to be great fun for her.
Emmett smiled brightly at her, trying to mask the torment he was feeling. He was aware of the looks but was rapidly caring less and less – to have an angel such as Rosalie be so focused on one such as himself… it really made everything else seem rather unimportant. The words that slipped from her beautiful lips next caused him to start and look at her with surprise. Married? In Europe? But they’d already been married several times… it as all just a formality. Still…
Rosalie could make him do whatever she wanted. Her whispered ‘please’ and the way she rested her forehead against his, staring into his eyes, was enough to make the strongest of men melt. She nuzzled her nose against his and Emmett felt his resolve weakening. Not that going through a wedding ceremony was all that bad. In fact, he didn’t really mind it much at all. Emmett didn’t have a problem telling Rosalie over (and over and over) again that he was hers forever, to do with as she pleased. She knew that anyway.
”I don’t know,” he teased, ”Married? As in, elope? As in swear my love to you forever and eternity? My word, Rose, you ask a lot.” He knew he couldn’t tease her long without causing her irritation; it wasn’t fun when his love was angry with him. Placing a kiss to her cheek he couldn’t wait until they were in London. He hated that they had such a long time to go, after this flight they had another one to catch, but Emmett could wait. Only a handful of hours until he’d have her all to himself with no one to watch and they could do whatever they liked.
”Anything you want, my beautiful Rose,” he murmured. ”We can get married if you’d like; just name the time and place. You know I’d give you anything that you wanted, you only need to ask.” Rarely did he say no to her – and when he did, it was rather useless anyway. People just didn’t say ‘no’ to Rosalie. It didn’t work. He had said she couldn’t come with him today and here she was, sitting rather contentedly in his lap. He wouldn’t have it any other way.
He wanted to figure out what he was going to do about the kid, how he was going to find one. Finding a child wouldn’t be that hard, but he wasn’t going to get just any child. It had to be a child that Rosalie would like; and it had to be one that would have a difficult life without his interference – if only to ease his own conscience. Besides, when they got back to Quillayute, the whole Cullen clan was going to be after him for the “foolish” decision he was making. He knew it. He had to be able to defend the choice he had made; it was the one thing that could make Rosalie really and truly happy. That was all he wanted.
Emmett knew that she had a lot in store for him when they got to the hotel; he figured he wouldn’t get a chance to go out and get her “surprise” probably for a couple days. Especially now that she wanted to get married. That was something they were going to have to do before he got the child; he didn’t really want to bring a kid along for that. Not that they couldn’t. But he didn’t want to. He wanted to get everything done that he needed to get done so that for the last little while that they were here, Rosalie could… bond with the child. Get used to having a kid to take care of. So that when they got back to Quillayute, the child wouldn’t be utterly freaked out. He wasn’t sure why he hadn’t thought about the intelligence of bringing Rosalie along before. It made sense, even if it did make it all a little harder. He was pretty sure they were going to be here far longer than he had originally planned.
”I wish we were there already,” he said with a sigh, ”I wish we could make the plane go faster.” There’d be no time for sightseeing when they got to London, he decided, not right away. No, they’d be making their way to the first hotel they could find – the first classy one, any way. He wasn’t going to be taking her anywhere slummy. Cullens didn’t spare any expense.
note: heya! Sorry it took a while; feel free to skip ahead in time whenever you want. To whenever – either to the airport, or next plane, or even arriving in London.
