Overall Personality:
Rosalie Lillian Hale is incredibly selfish and she'll be the first person to tell you that. She only thinks of herself and the way that things benefit or harm her in the long run. Chances are that Rose wouldn't do anything unless it benefited her somehow. She knows that she's better than certain people and she refuses to associate with people who are considered lower than her based on their social status. Over the years and since joining the Cullen family, Rosalie's selfishness has been somewhat tame, but she still thinks of her own needs ahead of anyone else's needs. While she now thinks about the needs of Emmett and her family, she is still classified as self obsessed and selfish. She feels that her life was cut short and the ability for her to live a normal, human life was taken away from her. In response to having her life cut short, she believes she now has the right to get whatever she longs for because it was taken from her in the first place.

Aside from being selfish, Rosalie is very shallow and obsessed with looks. When she was human, she refused to be seen in public with anyone who was not considered beautiful in her eyes which was most of the population in Rochester, New York. Rose is beautiful and she definately knows it. She is aware of the ability she has to get anything she wants by playing up her looks. She can easily persuade someone to do favors to her with a simple smile or batting of the eyes. She's not afraid to use her looks to get what she wants. Although she's not proud of the fact that she thinks so highly of looks, she still cannot resist the urge to look in a mirror and stare at her reflection every chance she gets. After being turned into a vampire, she hated what she had become but the only thing that made it alright was the fact that she was beautiful. When she originally looked at herself in the mirror after becoming a vampire, she was blown away by her own beauty and she loved that. That's one of the only things she likes about being a vampire - the looks that were enhanced for her.

Rose does have some good qualities, however. She is feircely loyal to those she loves which includes the Cullens. She would never think of betraying them or leaving the coven because she has grown to love each and every one like a family. When she was human, she didn't have a true family and people who cared for her, so now that she has a true family, she's not going to let them go. She does everything she can to protect her parents, brothers and sister because she knows that they would do the same for her.

One would think that someone as vain and arrogant as Rose would be incapable of loving anyone other than herself. On the contrary, there is one person who Rose loves almost as much as herself and that person is Emmett Cullen. When Rose met Emmett, she instantly felt drawn to him and he opened up her heart to love. She had never truly fell in love with anyone before. Before she met Emmett, Rosalie fell in love based on looks. However, after meeting Emmett, Rosalie fell in love based on personality and looks. She would do just about anything for him and truly believes that they are soul mates. She longs for nothing more than to grow old with him and for them to have a family of their own.

Even though Rosalie doesn't have or has ever had any children of her own, she longs for them. She believes that she would make a great mother and has maternal instincts. She feels that when she was turned into a vampire, she lost her chance to have her own children and to start a family of her own. So, she wouldn't choose the vampiric way of life on anyone because she knows that it's not a future anyone deserves. She would give everything - Emmett, her family, her friends, her looks - just to be able to have a chance at humanity again. She would give everything up in a heartbeat just to be able to have a chance to have a child - son or daughter - of her own.

Rosalie is from Rochester, New York originally so she has somewhat of a New York accent. For instance, when she says sister instead of saying "sist-er" it comes out as "sist-ah".

History:
On February 15th, 1915 in Rochester New York, newly wedded couple Lillian Jayne Carin-Hale and Charles Jacob Hale welcomed their first child, a beautiful baby girl into the world. They named her Rosalie Lillian Hale, claiming that such a beautiful baby deserved such a beautiful name. Even as a child, Rosalie was beautiful beyond belief, having taken after her beautiful mother in every way possible. Rosalie's mother was a housewife, caring to the needs of Rosalie and her two younger brothers, Jonathon Jacob Hale and David Jacob Hale. Rosalie's father was a banker and he kept his family wealthy and on their feet during the years of the Great Depression. Since Rosalie was beautiful, her mother instantly took a liking to her and Rosalie grew up with her mother as her best friend instead of as a parent to her. Rose learned to be arrogant, selfish and obsessed with looks and society from her mother. Her father was rarely around as he worked all the time to keep their family wealthy and considered upper class. Rose was often praised for her looks wherever she went, causing her to be vain, self centered and judgemental. She often received most of the attention from her parents, when they were around. Her brothers loathed her because they were always in her shadow and she was never much of an older sister to them.

One day, Rosalie had to deliver her father's forgotten lunch at the bank and her mother had her dress up, hoping that her daughter would catch the interest of someone working at the bank. Rosalie's mother's plan worked and soon Royce King the second began sending roses and violets to Rosalie. Their relationship was based on physical attraction since Royce was a workaholic, just like her father, and spent most of his time working at the bank. They became engaged shortly after and Rosalie, along with her mother, couldn't have been happier. Rose was finally getting married which was considered every girl's dream during those times. Girls weren't thought to be smart or independent during those times. Girls were merely possessions and made to look pretty and to have children, something with Lillian had instilled in Rose's mind. Rose wanted nothing more than to marry a man who was as attractive as she and to have beautiful children together. She wanted the picture perfect life and she finally thought she was getting it.

Right before the wedding, Rosalie went on a trip to visit her good friend Vera and she saw the way that Vera and her husband kissed one another. She realized that the one thing that was missing from her relationship with Royce was love. The only thing that attracted her to him was his wealth and his looks, nothing more and nothing less. On her way home that night, Rosalie came across her fiance who was too drunk to even make sense of the situation along with his drunken friends. Royce was praising her beauty and before she knew it, she was beaten and raped by her own fiance. Rosalie was then left to die by the man she was supposed to be marrying and his good for nothing friends.

Rosalie was then found by Carlisle Cullen who had been drawn to her due to the scent of her spilled blood. He took pity on her and carried her home, later changing her into a vampire. Within a matter of three days, Rosalie saw herself in the mirror as a vampire and she fell in love with her reflection. The only thing that lifted her spirits was how beautiful she looked, almost like a model. She knew that she had been beautiful before, but now she was flawlessly stunning.

Rosalie then avenged her death by murdering Royce's friends who killed and had badly beaten her. Saving Royce for last, she wore a stolen wedding gown and hunted him down. She found Royce in a windowless room, guarded by two buff men. Royce had hired bodyguards after he heard that his friends had been murdered. The look on his face was priceless and almost sent Rosalie into fits of giggles by the sheer look of terror on his face. It was almost like she was back from the dead. She was careful to save him for last for she wanted him to suffer. After killing his two bodyguards, she killed Royce very slowly and was careful not to drink his blood. She didn't want to have any of that vermon's blood inside of her and she is happy to be able to say that she has been strong since the beginning in being able to control her hunger for human blood.

While living in Forks, Washington with the other Cullens, Rosalie plays the role of Jasper Hale's twin sister since she prefers to use her own last name instead of Cullens. She has come to think of Esme and Carlisle as her true parents now since they gave her a second chance at life. Although she hates the vampiric way of life and would rather live as a human, she still owes them everything. She admires Carlisle for his unique ability to live life as a vegan vampire and aspires to be like him to a point where the smell of human blood would have no effect on her whatsoever. Rosalie also looks up to Esme for she wants to be able to me as motherly as Esme one day. Originally, Carlisle had turned Rosalie for Edward. He had hoped that Edward would see Rosalie as Carlisle saw Esme. However, Rosalie and Edward loathed one another in the beginning. He despised her because she had an obsession with looks and she despised him for not falling for her. She was so used to having people praise her beauty and whatnot that it was shocking and revolting to see that Edward was able to resist her beauty. However, over time Rosalie was able to see Edward as a brother and they bicker constantly, almost like real siblings do. Rosalie also looks to Alice and Jasper as true siblings ever since they joined the Cullen family a little later on. Then, there is Emmett Cullen.

While hunting one day, Rosalie came across Emmett in a cave and he had been mauled by a bear. From the first moment that Rosalie laid her eyes on Emmett, she was drawn to him. He reminded her of her good friend Vera's son Henry. She was drawn to the strange boyish looks that looked so out of place on a grown man's face. She then carried Emmett one hundred miles to her harm, as hard as it was for her. She then asked Carlisle to turn him for her since she had been afraid that she couldn't do it on her own. Ever since, the two have been in love and married several times over the years since Rosalie loves the attention focused on her and she loves planning these things along with Alice.

When Edward first met Bella, she was insanely jealous. She didn't understand why Edward hadn't fallen for her and yet he fell for a human. Sure, she thought that Bella was beautiful and pretty, but she found herself to be prettier than Bella, or so she thought. Even though she was happily married to Emmett, she couldn't help but feel a little jealous and extremely confused. She also didn't like the fact that Bella was so willing to throw everything out the window just to become a vampire and to live with Edward. She didn't understand just how strong their love was. To her, it was like a slap in the face because Bella was so willing to just give up her chance at mortality. Rosalie would do anything to be given what Bella had - a pulse, a heartbeat and a chance to have her own children.

Then, when Bella became pregnant with Nessie, she called out to Rosalie for help. Rose saw this as a chance to be somewhat of a mother figure. If she couldn't be a mother directly, then she was going to be an aunt. Even before Bella asked her for her help, she knew where she would stand. She protected Bella the whole time she was pregnant, making sure that no harm came to Bella or the baby. Although, she was tending to Bella's every whim mostly for the safety of the baby, she also didn't want Bella to get hurt. However, she cared much more for the baby inside of Bella than Bella herself. She helped Bella out throughout her traumatic pregnancy and made Edward back off whenever he tried to harm the baby inside of Bella. She knew that if Bella died during the pregnancy, she wouldn't let anything happen to the baby and she would take the baby as if it were her own. When Bella and Nessie came out alright, Rose knew that she would be the best damn aunt she could possibly be. She would spoil the child senseless and never allow any harm to come to her. Nessie is the closest thing to a child that Rosalie has now and she spoils her rotten, much to the dismay of Edward.

Everything on her body ached. Her arm hurt from being dragged by Alice from store to store. Her hands hurt from carrying all of the bags which Alice had purchased. Her feet hurt from standing for hours on end in various stores. Her head hurt from the variety of so many bright colors. Her whole body hurt and all because Bella was too much of a sissy to say "no" to going shopping with Alice. That morning, Bella had thought she was just going to spend a nice, quiet, relaxing day laying beside Edward in his bedroom and talking, like they usually did. However, her daily plans came crashing down around her once Edward and Bella had walked through the Cullen residence front doors. Alice had been waiting for them, hands on her hips and literally bouncing up and down. With one glance at Alice, Bella knew what she was in for.

Bella tried, she had truly tried to say no to Alice's pleas, but they all knew that she would cave eventually. Alice pulled the "how much do you love me" card one too many times that morning before Bella caved. Once Bella nodded and gave the okay, she was dragged from the house by Alice for the entire afternoon. She had thrown Edward a horrified look, pleaing with him to help her. To her dismay, he hadn't even so much as offered to tag along with them to make sure that Bella's sanity would be safely returned. The whole afternoon was a blur of colors, clothes and just plain shopping.

Bella wasn't a girly girl and she had never been one for getting dressed up and buying expensive things. In fact, she wasn't even fond of receiving presents. Whenever the Cullens gave her gifts, she would flat out refuse to accept them. However, over time they had all learned that Bella would eventually cave and accept the gifts happily. The one person though that was unable to give her any presents, under any circumstances, was Edward. She already felt that he was too good for her and that he didn't deserve her. Him buying her expensive presents would just tip the balance even more.

Alice had come to claim Bella as her human barbie doll. She would dress her up, take her shopping and do anything she wanted. So, it may have been partially Bella's fault for not growing a back bone and refusing to be put through such misery, but she was too nice to do so. The day that Bella would come to say no to Alice would be the day which Edward gladly turned her into a vampire. In case you're really that slow that means never ever. And so, once Alice finally ran out of money and Bella's constant complaints began to annoy Alice, she let her off the hook. It also didn't help that Alice was just as fast a driver as Edward.

She figured that the Cullens often forgot that Bella was human and could actually be killed if they were in a car accident. So, for the past fifteen minutes Bella had been holding on to the arm rests on either side of her passenger seat in the car for dear life. By the time Alice's expensive sports car swerved into the Cullens' driveway, Bella's knuckles were white from clutching onto the arm rest so hard. Once the car was at a stop, Bella quickly undid her seatbelt and bolted from the car, walking as fast as she could towards the front door without drawing suspicion to herself. The faster she got inside, the faster she would be able to get to Edward.

She threw the door open and looked around the deserted livingroom. She frowned a little when she didn't see Edward in the spot where she had left him. Ignoring the looks that she was recieving from the other Cullens, she made her way up the stairs rather quickly. "Edward," she called, glancing down the hallway to see if he was there. Bella's attachment to Edward was unique. They had often spoke about how painful it was to be away from one another, but talking about it and experiencing it were two entirely different things.

Whenever Bella wasn't with Edward, it felt like he took a part of her with him. It was almost like she wasn't complete unless he was by her side and she ached for him every minute that they were apart. Her father had often explained that their relationship and longing for one another wasn't natural, but their relationship also wasn't natural. It was something entirely different. It was eternal and true.
