The clouds were threatening another shower above London. The town was quiet, yet Roger knew that in one part of Great Britain’s capital, people were celebrating. He looked at the sky and sighed. The wind started to blow with fury, making the trees that were surrounding the swiss star bend their branches. He looked at his Rolex: 23:44.
“ Rafa must be on his way to Champions’ dinner.” he mused. “ Not me. Not today.” He looked again at the sky. “ Why God? Where have my prayers reached?” He knew that even with little belief in God, one could have enough mental strenght to pursue his dream. But today nothing had gone Roger’s way, except in the two sets he won. The image of Rafa holding the trophy came to his mind and tears filled his eyes again. He bit his lower lip, trying to shake the thoughts away, but it was of no use.

Roger had succumbed in meditation and didn’t hear when somebody came near him. Yet the lightnings of the park created a shadow above him, which made him raise his looks. Not little was his surprise when he saw Ana Ivanovic looking down at him. She was wearing a pair of jeans, Converse shoes and a tshirt from Adidas of a color Roger couldn’t tell, because of the darkness. Since breaking up with Mirka, 4 months ago, Roger started to like Ana, but not that much to consider her an appropriate girlfriend.

- Ana! What are you doing here? he asked in utter surprise. I mean, shouldn’t you be at home?
The young serb chuckled.
- I did go home, but came back to see the final.
Roger sighed, for the 3rd time, but noticed with the corner of his eyes that now Ana was sitting next to him, on the grass.
- So, did you like it? he asked, wanting to sound ironic, but with no succes.
- No…she answered, very shortly, making Roger look at her in surprise. Because Rafael killed your beautiful game with his strong, ugly shots, she went on, making Roger’s heart stumble for a second. He had come here in Hyde Park to put his thoughts in order and now Ana was here, sitting near him, telling him that she disliked Rafael’s way of killing his beautiful game. That was really touching.
- Oh, that’s…thanks! he burst, not knowing what to say, and tears filled his eyes again. He turned his head, so Ana couldn’t see he was crying. But…how did you find me? he asked, trying to sound normal.
- You mentioned in one interview that this is your favourite part of the park and that you come here when you are very sad. I remembered this, she smiled.
So she really cared for him.
- Roger…you’re still wearing the tennis clothing! Ana noticed. Why?
- Ah…who would think of changing in those moments? he said, on a low voice. It was the last thing that would come to my mind.
He suddenly found himself hugged by Ana. He let out a gasp, but hugged her back. Her hair smelled of orchids. And now, he somehow felt much better.
- I don’t want you to suffer…she said and hugged him tighter. You don’t deserve.
How much compasion! Roger felt his heart was drowning in feelings of…how could he call it? Was it love? He had no idea, but he knew he felt good there, in Ana’s arms. It was conforting and soothing.
- I wish things were otherwise…but this is the way it happened. I will find the strenght to go on. Right now I’m drained.
Ana looked at him, as if seeking for something in his brown eyes, and sighed.
- Things will be better for you. Beauty will win once more. And…
She wanted to add something, but soon forgot her idea, as Roger pressed his lips against hers. And so they were, locked in a kiss, which only the nature around would understand. After a while that seemed to last forever, Roger broke the kiss, but only to whisper:
- Shh…please say no more…he smiled and kissed her again, caressing her hair.
Yes, beauty would win once more, on court. But off court, it was reborn right now.
