Exactly what it says in the topic. This current course of where this board is heading is not working. I have tried various courses and it's not working. So I leay it open to the members, what's left of them to discuss the future of the board. What do you want?

Post Time-War?

Pre-Time War, I have an idea how the current Doctor 10th gets dragged into that?

Alternate reality or dimension? also know as AU in some circles.

Lay your ideas down and we will forum them. Eventually we will vote on them and the winning idea will be used. That's the way I have this planned. Sounds fair and diplomatic. So here we go and as the Master says, Here come the Drums.....

In my humble opinion, I believe that we should stay circa season 3 of the new series (after Rose the Doomsday episode). Since the player that previously handled Rose seems to have abandoned the character it would be easy to leave her in that reality until someone writes in an incident that brings her back.

I would recommend allowing any kind of Doctor Who universe threads, such as Torchwood, Sarah Jane and K9, and any of the Doctors. After all its not like the old series covered all of their adventures. Just pick a place between stories and go with it for what that verson does and doesn't know.

Additional Note: The eighth Doctor probably had a good hundred year or greater run that is undocumented after the ending of the Doctor Who comics. It's apparent that this Doctor fought in the Time War. The fact that the Ninth Doctor was still playing with his ears in the first episode, suggests that he was recently regenerated. This implies that he may have regenerated as a result of his actions to end the Time War.

Hmm, I think we should do post time war, but somehow, the 10th doctor gets sent back during the time war and all his previous reincarnations are sent there so its like The Ten Doctors.

An Alternate Universe/Reality is always my favorite option. I like the creativity it opens up for all the characters involved, allowing you to make whatever changes you see fit to the universe to make the plot and site more of your own.

Sorry I've been gone for sooooooooooooooooo long....sad.gifsad.gifsad.gif

Well my dear there are a few possible paths i think... each with it's own strengths and weakness:

- A loose system with diverse adventures. And thus different Doctors/timeframes. Which can at times converge. In a way this is most 'Doctor' Who-ish of all.

- The focus on one 'Doctor' who is involved in a plot that is major but also timespanning... allowing timetravel to remain important thus enabling diverse chars to get involved.

- Constantly involve several Doctors at once in a plot. However i think this would be really awkward weird except for the rare odball (cameo/crossover) scene.

- Or you can not put the focus on the Doctor. He's there, he's played but he's not the determening factor. Several threads/timelines are. Basically he's Gandalf among the Fellowship. He's clearly the 'senior' and has a headstart in a lot of things but the story doesn't end if he's 'gone'. The Quest could easily continue.

Here is an idea slightly spawned by everyones ideas. How about the idea that suddenly Time and all the periods are in flux. Meaning the time before the Time War and the time after the Time War are all converging on each other. I am not sure this is making very much sense, it's early for me. But reality is shifting about and it's all converging so that the past ends up affecting the future etc. That means past Doctors could end up bumping into future Doctors. Past companions bump into future companions etc. It leaves a lot of randomness and that means past villians and past characters who are thought dead can come back.

So far my favorites (not inclusing my own) are:

Yun Antares: A loose system with diverse adventures. And thus different Doctors/timeframes. Which can at times converge. In a way this is most 'Doctor' Who-ish of all.

The Doctor: How about the idea that suddenly Time and all the periods are in flux.

Basically, I'm leaning toward an open-ended approach. No unifying storyline, to required canan characters, multiple time lord incarnations active (though rarely interacting with eachother). If we do fo with the Time Flux concept, it would suggest an overall group plot goal of restabilizing everything. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

Well the most active rpgs that have a Doctor Who theme run on two things. Parellel dimisons or adjacent dimensions. So basically the Alternate Universe idea.
The alternate dimension idea is a bit more creative. But I think I like the idea of mergeing time fields and dimsions better, since it lets creativity of non-canon and canon mix.

The other ones are a random planet where the Doctor is stuck and can't leave (which I really don't care for because what's Doctor Who without time travel)

I am trying to get this group together but it doesn't seem to be an easy task.

The flux thing has potential especially for a one shot adventure.
With figures popping up and areas 'meeting' out of thin air.
Which should be confusing and problematic especially if say suddenly a defeated enemy 'meets' with your current timeframe.

I never cared any for the DW boards that banned the Doctor. Its not Doctor Who without the potential of running into Doctor Who.

By the look of the total lack of replies over this week, I believe everyone will be happy with whatever you want to do with the group.

So, now I guess we need volunteers for putting out the first posts. Destrii is the eighth doctor's last companion before his regeneration into the ninth doctor and meeting rose. I heard that a player was interested in running the eighth doctor. If this person is still interested and is committed to reliably posting the he would be a good one for Destrii to start with. FYI, wikipedia does have an entry for Destrii. Also if you click on my signature it will take you to my bio which has most of that information as well as some additional info.

Val is a bit trickier to handle. She has an entire storyline that is attached to finding out exactly who and what she really is. This has been worked out in detail between Becca and myself. She needs a Time Lord to put the clues together and help propel her general plotline. Now this plot is not the one episode veriety. It is more like the Bad Wolf element in the fact that it happens periodically between episodes and finally climaxes at the end of one or two seasons (series for UK people).

If you click on my signature it will take you to my bio. This gives her partial history as well as her unique capabilities, befitting what she really is. When the plot progresses far enough I wull upload the full bio.

Note: In the UK the word series is the same as the US season. A UK TV show is equivalent to a US TV series.
