I know there is a more general thread here dealing woith this subject however I thought it would be good to have one specifically for the CoD mini series.

For the major roles . . .

I thought James McAvoy gave a supurb performance as Leto II and was perfectly cast in the role.

Alec Newman shone in the role of Paul Muad'Dib Atreides and gave a far better performance than the one he did in the original Dune mini series.

Daniela Amavia was fantastic as Alia I couldn't have thought anyone else in the role could have done better.

As for the minor characters . . .

I was impressed by Jonathan Bruun who played Farad'n who could have done with the larger and more important role he had in the book.

Karel Dobry gave it his all in my opinion as Korba who again could have done with more sceen time.

So what do you think? Who is your fave character? . . .

James McAvoy was perfect for LetoII.

I thought Alec Newman did a better job portraying the Preacher than Paul.

Others I liked include Alia, Hayt, Scytale, Bijaz, Susan Sarandon... ;)

As much as I didn't like Leto II being a teen, I liked James McAvoy's acting.
Daniela Amavia was my fave though :P love the scene where she shows she's possessed and screams. Shame the ending wasn't like in the book. I didn't quite the rest of the actors, guess it's because I read the books, and then saw the movie.

I also liked Alec Newman, both as Muad'dib and the preacher. He performed much better than in the Dune mini. Another one I liked is Bijaz, but I don't know the actor's name, sorry.. :r

I preffered Alec Newman as the Preacher than as Paul. I was glad to see Ian McNeice return as the Baron, he was just perfect for the role.

I thought Alec Newman did a much better job this time around, both as Paul and as the Preacher (though I did prefer the latter performance, which was quite similar to how I imagined the character).
Barbara Kodetova's job, while not 'great' was somewhat improved from the previous series, and I felt like I connected with her far better in COD (probably because Sci-fi didn't add any unneccessary pornographic scenes with her in order to attract a teenage audience in this miniseries).
James McCavoy's performance was awesome, no questions asked. Leto II is a difficult character to portray, and even though he was a 'teen', I can't visualize anyone else portraying the God Emperor now.
Ian McNeice was quite good as well, perfect for the Baron as others have said.
Daniela Amavia definatley makes a good case for my favorite however. Not only does she look the role, but her portrayal of Alia was absolutley amazing! Her death scene actually made me cry a little bit, but that's just me.

McAvoy did a really good job, I wasn't thrilled with the girl who played Ghanima to be honest, the role seemed a bit beyond her and I didn't feel she contributed well to the Twins dynamic, she lacked power and energy. The actor playing Stilgar seemed to be over-acting frequently as well.

I can't help wondering how the miniseries would have played out if they had made the twins 9 years old, as they were in the novel.
