This is an experiment tournament, solely for ARC.
DA RULEZ
1. I need 1 bot from 4 people. They can be from any weight class here on ARC, but I will treat them as if they are in the same weight class. I'd prefer Heavyweights, though.
2. This will be based primarily off existing ARC league layouts. 3 weeks of league matches, then the final match for the two who have the best records. No play-off match.
3. All fights will be written solely by me, and will be posted on the weekend, probably Sunday. They will be judged on these categories, should matches go to a JD, and are the Crash & Burn Tournament's official scorecard:
Strategy = /5 (how well your tactics work out) Style = /10 (who's fighting the flashier) Control = /15 (dominance; who's been in control in the fight) Aggression = /20 (which bot has been all over the other) Damage = /25 (self-explanatory; who's caused the most damage)
4. It is strongly recommended that you give a decent stat description for your robot.
5. RPs are mandatory. Both FRA and ARC have had their fair share of people not giving tactics/forfeiting, and it's honestly quite sickening. So don't bothering signing up if you can't RP. If you are going to be absent for a match, ask someone to RP for you please.
6. BOT RULES
a) Most ARC main robot rules do apply, such as armour bonuses, power hammers, all that. I've recently read up on it several times, and I'm sure I have it memorized. Just in case, though, here's the ARC: Carnage stat system I'm borrowing:
| QUOTE | STAT SYSTEM
As previously stated, the point system will be the same as the past three tournaments with 22 points being divided up between Speed, Armor, Torque, and Weapon.
Speed: This stat affects how fast your bot moves around. For thwack bots, including Y-drives, however this acts as your actual weapon power, when spinning.
Weapon: This stat affects how powerful your bots weapon is. If this stat is higher than your armor, then it is also reflective of your bots weapon armor. For thwack bots, including Y-drives, this stat indicates the bots actual floor maneuvering speed, while your bot is spinning.
Traction: Traction will govern pushing power, acceleration, the ability to turn your bot around, the recoil you take from getting hit by a spinning weapon or hitting someone with your spinning weapon, and how long it takes for you to come to a complete stop when moving around the arena.
Armor: This stat is how durable your bot is. The higher it is, the more damage it will be able to withstand. As with Weapon, if it is higher than your weapon power, than this stat will be reflective of the weapon armor.
IMPORTANT!!!!! The passive armor rule has been modified:
Passive armor is the main chassis of the robot, to include all wedges, plows, and plates that are a part of the chassis or frame, and will have the base armor stat. Passive upgraded armor includes wheel guards, plows, wedges, bars, spikes, weapon shafts and heads(thwacks) and plates that are solidly attached but obviously not part of the main chassis. As a default, all passive armor counts as the armor stat with no additional bonuses. HOWEVER, you can give plows, wedges, rams, etc. additional bonuses as long as you offset that bonus with a subtraction from all other areas. Here's an example:
Bot (Armor 8) with a plow on front and wedge on back. You give your plow a +2 armor and your chassis, wheels, wedge a -2. SO therefore, your plow have an armor of 10 but everywhere else, your armor is a 6. |
So there you go. No flying robots. c) Shufflers/cams, such as Son of Whyachi, get 24 points to work with. True walkers get 26, and 2-part clusterbots get 16 each. d) If you want to enter a multi-bot, it must only be comprised of 2 parts; makes it easier to deal with. (Sorry Palette 3. ) e) An interchangeable robot can only have 3 set-ups available. They cannot be too similar in that they are almost the same (unless I approve it) f) Please please please PLEEEEEASE try and make your robots reasonably realistic. I don't know how many times people have tried to enter impossible robots in tournaments... 7. A little poking fun around never hurt anybody, but any really unnecessary fighting among you guys and I'll have to step in. Please don't. 8. The arena being used will be the main Crash & Burn Battlegrounds arena, but there'll be no house robots for this (unless you want me to put one in). If this tournament goes well, I'll have a new arena for the next one, upon request. Yes, one with a hammer(s), probably. 9. Send a copy of the .3dm or Rhino-compatible file you used to create the robot, and any texture files you used with it, to k_o_d_y_k@hotmail.com . If you don't have a Rhino file, I'll render it as best I can, as I'm trying to do fight screenshots. 10. It is intentionally a small tournament, so have fun with it! Now, let's see if this generates some interest...

Kody, with the FRA's stance on tactics and the writer's liberty on improvising them when the roboteer didnt give them, which is why I dont give them 50% of the time, it does surprise me you label this as sickening . Nothing against a tournament with mandatory tactics though and this should be fun, a pity I came in too late .

It's quite difficult to imagine what the roboteer would do, without tactics. Although it may seem easy within the result (like in Die-Reverta-Tops vs. Envy during MToD 3, for example), it's actually rather hard. That's why I don't really like it when I don't get tactics.
Though I do prefer a well thought-out tactic/RP over simply "Eh, destroy him." The only time I'll put those poor excuses for tactics in my own fights is if I'm feeling incredibly lazy, lol

Well I personally never have much troubles writing a battle of which I dont have tactics, but I can see that being different for other people. I didnt realize that it worked that way for you, and accusing people of sickening you for neglecting to do something that is 100% optional over at the FRA came totally out of the blue to me .
