Forum Rules

As all groups, we have our rules and expectations. They are not complicated but if you have any questions, contact our staff on the board. Rules may be added or modified at any time.

General Rules
  • Please respect the rules, moderators, admins and members of the game.
  • Please do not join the board unless you intend on playing.
  • This board is for mature writers. This does not mean that this is a free-for-all, it means thoughtful, creative and expressive posts that can contain mature content.
  • Any posts rated above 14A must be posted in 'Behind the Veil' forum.
  • Your login name should be your character's first name. First and last will also be allowed.
Characters
  • Characters are expected to have pictures. If you cannot create your own sig/avatar, please ask for one to be made for you.
  • You are expected to have put some depth and imagination into character's creation.
  • You may have as many characters as you wish but you must have a separate account for each one you keep active.
  • No one is perfect, this includes your characters.
  • You can control your character and only your character, even though mental powers are allowed in the game this does not give you the right to be God.
  • Your character's sexuality is their business and will not be restricted unless their preferences are not considered legal.
  • If your character is a slave they cannot legally own anything other than small personal items. They cannot hold land, accounts outside the Silver United or purchase slaves.
  • Slaves cannot buy their own freedom, all their coins are legally property of their Master. Most master's will allow their slaves to spend their own coins freely.
Posting
  • Posts must be at least one full paragraph long, 5-10 sentences min. One-liners will not be permitted.
  • I do not claim to have the best spelling or grammar but posts must be easy to read, with proper spacing and limited typing errors.
  • Either bolded text or ""'s are acceptable for spoken words.
  • Double posting (posting the same character in more than one thread at the same time) is allowed but not encouraged.
Warnings
  • First warning: PM message
  • Second warning: Public message
  • Third warning: Formal warning level raised 20%
  • Your warning level will be reduced after time if no further problems occur.
  • When your warning level reaches 100% you will be suspended for 1 week, upon return no more warnings will be given, you will be banned from posting.
Coins
  • Coins are our money system, you get 5 for every post and a bonus for each new character.
  • Only animals, pets and weapons are sold under the coin system. Anything else is 'free' to be made up, do not give your character's items they should not have based on their wealth/status.
  • All updates on coins are done through the Royal Market.
Stealing
  • Since thieves are a big part of the game, we need to restrict actual stealing to follow these rules.
  • All theft must be done through the board in the Destrier.
  • A theft does not need to be approved but if it is disaproved, we will inform you.
  • The Queen of Thieves receives a small portion of every theft, it is her right and any theif that does not share is not welcome within the rogue.
  • The queen can be challanged, a challange will be a duel to first blood with swords. (the winner will be deturmined by dice roll with a handicap going to the current ruler).
  • Coins cannot be stolen.
  • You can only steal from real characters, not made up characters.
  • You do not succeed every time and you can't just knock someone out and take their horse. There are gaurds throughout the city and without effort, you will be arrested.

Mature Content

Erotica is permitted on this board so long as it is not all your characters do. It should be plot related and not involve characters under the legal age for such acts (14 and under in Canada). We are not responsible for persons under the age of 18 who take action in writing/reading erotica on this forum. I must make abolutely clear that this game is not sex based nor do we allow the writing of sexual acts that would be considered illegal. I trust that I will not have to go into detail on the latter.
All posts must be placed on the 'Behind the Veil' forum.

QUOTE
In discussing erotica and the differing writing styles of men and women, it is important to delineate the differences in pornography and erotica. Probably the most notable differences between the two genres is the concept of suggestiveness. Erotic writings tend to readily employ euphemisms and metaphors. It tends to allude to sexual acts or veil them in softened language: "we want the thing but instead we get a glimpse of it as it disappears."

Pornography, on the other hand, focuses on blunt sexual acts and, therefore, uses frank, often coarse, language to do so. (Schwichtenberg, 26-27). Nin, in her essay on "Eroticism in Women," distinguishes between erotica and pornography: Pornography "bestializes sexuality[...]treats [it] grotesquely to bring it back to the animal level." Eroticism, on the other hand, "arouses sensuality without this need to animalize it." ("Eroticism," 8)
