Eliel was new in Silver and like any self respecting bard had immediately started looking for a roof to sleep in. He had settled for the Greywolf inn. Owners were always anxious to have such entertainment around. He smiled smugly at that thought--innkeepers appreciated the bard's ability to maintain a full pub. He of course was confident that the innkeeper would not be disappointed.

He sauntered into the room. Immediately all eyes fell on him as he chose and stopped on a spot that gave everyone the best view. He bowed low, and smiled at the crowd setting down the cases of his instruments. "My greetings one and all," he intoned with his sing song voice. "I am the entertainer Eliel Allistar Ellim, a bard of nominal reknown." At this introduction the men cheered. His smile widened, absorbing all their cheer and praise. Immediately calls came out from all over for him to play the tune of this song or that.

"I want to hear Milne's last stand!"
"No! Play The Cry of the Wind!"
"Tell the tale of Kevin the trickster!"
"Juggle! Juggle and tell jokes!"

Eliel raised his hand motioning for silence. Slowly he uncased his fluter, carressing the instrument with affection. He always started with this instrument--a reminder of the time he spent with the man who taught him this life. Putting his lips over the mouthpiece he began to blow a tune. The old man always started his performances with the very same song and why not? It was popular all over the realm.

It was titled "Jack of White Who Set His Hair Alight." It wasn't long before the whole pub had caught up with the tune and sure enough, all the men had began to sing, their loud, rough voices reaching the four corners of the room.

"There was a boy! Oh what a boy!
His name was Jack of White.
For oh that boy! That poor boy!
His hair was pearly white!
He wasn't old or so he was told but all the boys would tease.
So poor Jack began to favor his white hair least."

"And so one day Jack of White,
Why he set his hair alight!"
