He chuckled softly, setting out the food, having stolen a small dish of butter for the rolls. He nibbled gently on a carrot for a moment, feeling very much Him at the moment. It was a good feeling, not to be worrying about anything else going on in his head, just what was going on in the world.

"So, Dyra.. can I call you that?" he didn't want to ask about the occasion they found eachother on, he felt it may bring back bad memories, he wasn't entirely sure what to talk to her about.

"So, I'm a teacher here. Just started. I was hired for Dealing with Magical Energies, funny because I haven't the foggiest idea what I am supposed to be teaching. Maybe I'll get lucky and no one will sign up for the class." Talking about work seemed alright. It wasn't anything heavy and his job was mildly interesting.

Dyra chuckled easily, munching away on a buttered roll, her voice jovial, "Yes, you can call me Dyra, and I bet that you do have a fairly good sized class. But I think you'll be okay. I think that you have more knowledge than you think you do." Smiling easily, now, she thought for a moment and popped a piece of the roll into her mouth, chewing quickly, and turned her gaze back to Aidan, "What do you do if someone sends a fireball at you?" Her eyes held a hint of challenge as she awaited his answer, curious as to how he'd handle the situation.

"Duck," he laughed. "But really, it would depend on what your own sign was. It would be very simple if you were a water elemental, you could put it out. But if your powers lay in mind control if you let your opponent throw fire at you in the first place you are seriously neglecting your power usage..." He stopped, knowing he could go on for an hour about fireballs. Perhaps she was right, maybe, if worse came to worse, he could stand up there and let them ask him questions until he found something he could tangent off of.

"In my case though, ducking would be my best bet, I'm not really an active power. In a perfect world I would know the fire ball was coming." It was not a perfect world though, unfortunatly only weak powers worked that way, his was a little more ... substantial ... in the things it predicted.

Chuckling softly, Dyra looked at Aidan, her eyes glittering in the light, "And you think that you won't be able to handle it? Aidan, I have a feeling that you know alot more about things than you realize." Her eyes drifted to the cut that was slowly mending on her hand, before turning her gaze back towards his, "Maybe I should take a few classes while I'm here. I don't want to learn anything else about my gift." Her eyes looked haunted for a moment, before she shook her head, and continued, "But maybe there's something that can suit me..."

She didn't really want to admit it yet, but she didn't want to leave, yet. Never having had anyone to rely on, anyone to truly trust, she realized that she had already trusted Aidan with more than anyone else in years... Usually, once people around her found out about her gift, understood it, they pushed her away, and she'd learned to push people away before it came to that point. She didn't really think about it often, but sometimes, it was good to have someone who understood her, or accepted her.

Her eyes flicked towards her companion again, and her voice softened, a whisper in the room, "What do you think?" Glancing down, she was almost afraid to hear his answer...what if he said it was a bad idea...then flicked her eyes to her bowl, concentrating all of her attention on that so she wouldn't have to see it in his eyes if he did...
