Title: Ask The Magna Draconis
Description: Got A Burning DB Question? Ask it!

The Furox - March 15, 2007 08:54 AM (GMT)
Update: Round Nine Q&A is Now Open

Please check back for when the next round will open.

-----------------------

Do you have a question about Dragon Booster you've always wanted to know the answer to? Well, now you have a chance to ask and get the definitive answer.

Those of you that have been around for awhile know that our member who goes by The Magna Draconis here is actually Rob Travalino who is one of the creators of Dragon Booster. He has offered to answer some of our questions about the show directly and he asked me to gather them up for him. He said he'd like to try answering about 20 questions for starters, with the possibility of doing more in the future. So this is your chance to get the definitive canon answer to whatever burning question is on your mind.

At the moment, I think we have less than 20 people visiting the forum regularly, so the way I'm going to work this is to allow each person to ask one question. That way everyone gets a chance. If we suddenly get a flood of people and exceed 20, then I'll run a lottery or something to pick the 20 that get submitted.

Rob didn't specify any restrictions, but I think we should adhere to the usual rule regarding the suggestion of story ideas, namely don't do that. Suggesting a story idea causes copyright issues and therefore needs to be avoided. So asking something like "How about having an episode where Artha meets King Arthur" isn't really a question since it's proposing a story idea. Basically, you'll want to stick to questions that clarify things from episodes that have aired or maybe fill in unspecified pieces of backstory. So asking something like "Where did Lance get Fracshun?" or "How did Connor manage to breed a gold dragon in so few years?" would be OK. You can also ask questions about the production of the show if you want.

Be aware that Rob may not want to answer questions that give away too much about the future story line. So be prepared that he may decline to answer a question like "Will Lance be the Blue Booster?" But if you really gotta know, you can try asking and see what happens.

Please try to keep your questions concise and to the point. If you find yourself writing more than say three sentences, then maybe you need to rethink how to express your question more briefly. If you're delving into something complex, then you can go a little longer, but don't write an essay. :)

Post your question to this thread. Check through the previous questions to make sure someone didn't already ask your question. Also, include your country (and city/state/province if you want) just to show far flung we all are. And don't use any smilies since I'll be pasting all the questions into an email and the icons won't go through. I'll take questions until about Sunday March 25th, then I'll decide what to do if we get more than 20.

An opportunity to ask questions directly to a show's creator is a rare event, so please make the most of it and don't post flippant questions or remarks. I'll just ignore those and substitute a question of my own. Asking thoughtful and engaging questions will be more likely to encourage him to come back and answer more.

Finally, feel free to edit and revise your question after you post it. You have until March 25th to finalize it.

OK, enough talk. Let's start taking questions!

Cool! This is great. We can finally confirm our theories and stuff. Anyway, to the question.

What happened to Artha and Lance's mother?

I'm from Sydney, Australia.

Sarah Frost - March 15, 2007 10:48 AM (GMT)
Ridiculously obscure question on general dragon lore...

What happened to Chute's old dragon Twyster? S/he can't be too old, since Connor raised him/her. Comfortably retired? (What happens to unwanted dragons generally?)

If you don't think the ridiculously obscure question is fair to ask, an alternative that a lot of forum members seem to be curious about:

What was the Blue Booster called?

turkmen - March 15, 2007 11:08 AM (GMT)
Omg, christmas just came earlier
Finally I'll get to know what is the secret of the universe...!

My question to Magna Draconis:
Could you please tell us more about Moordryd's past? He's such an interesting character and any information about his background would be a real treat. Things like how did he get Decepshun or met Cain, what happened to his mother Zulay, how does he know the secret way out of Precinct, has he been caught before? What made him who he is today. Or how did he get to be the leader of the Dragon Eye crew? I was wondering if he had to prove himself to get that position or maybe Word helped him by using his welth and influence. I'd would even like to know his likes and dislikes, or habits. Such little things would be really great, since most of the fangirls adore him~

I'm also still thinking about Cain and his sacred cookie-baking abilities...

I'm from Cracow, Poland

Liliwen - March 15, 2007 03:01 PM (GMT)
Can you provide a definitive list of which dragons are boys and which are girls among all the ones we regularly see? Mainly Wyldfyr.

I'm from Ontario, Canada.

Nayade - March 15, 2007 03:55 PM (GMT)
Great, I have some:
Abandonn and Tyrannis Pax are the only giant dragon; is if so, how did they become so big, and if not where go the giant dragons?

And also as Liliwen and Turkmen but I want to ask more if it is possible. Anything that can be answered about Zulay; what happened to her, how she looks like, how old is she (or something to have a reference, like how old or younger is from Word or did she have the same age), draconium color, to what crew she belongs and is she an elite clase?.

And I'm from Santiago, Chile

Nemi the Nen - March 15, 2007 04:26 PM (GMT)
If dragons were being abused/misused and subjugated before the Dragon-Human war (which they were as indicated by the mythology section) and Vysox and the League of Eight rose up.... Well wouldn't that make them less 'evil' and more bloody revolutionaries for a good cause?

Or alternatively phrased:

I take it things aren’t as bad for dragons as they were before/during the dragon human war, due to the fact that while dragons are resisting (‘getting harder to control’) it is a spotty effect, there have been no uprisings, and Our Hero isn’t attempting to right the wrongs committed against dragons despite his catch phrase.

So, my question is this: Dragons are racers, vehicles, and labour which can be traded and bought and sold; and they are not receiving monetary compensation for this, does that not make them slaves? (That’s a rhetorical question, since that’s the definition of slavery.) If not, how do you figure? (Room and board does not count as compensation, so I really want to hear this) If so, how much (or how was it) worse was it before the dragon human war?

Question format: p = true. ~p. ~p->y. p->q. Basis. If my basis is false I ask why. If my basis is true then I ask my second question. My basis has solid logical thinking and fact behind it. Eg: why is the sky blue? The sky's not blue it's __ because of... or they sky is blue becuase...

Oh, not at all. We're fans. Asking ridiculously obscure questions goes with the territory. I've got a whole list of those myself. :) I think Rob will get a kick out of those.

QUOTE (Liliwen @ Mar 15 2007, 08:01 AM)
Is Wyldfyr a girl or a boy?

Actually, why don't you edit and expand your question a little. I think it would be fair to also ask for the definitive list of which dragons are boys and which are girls among all the ones we regularly see.

In general, there's only one question per person right now. So if you posted two, I'll take the first one by default. Edit your posting and switch things around if you like. But I think there's some flexibility to get away asking two if the two questions are very closely related.

I_Am_Chute - March 15, 2007 09:45 PM (GMT)
Why is the Academy so large if only one racer is accepted every year? I know they are allowed to bring along some of their crew but not all of it because then the crew would no longer exist outside of the Academy.

dolphinliss - March 16, 2007 12:20 AM (GMT)
Is there any hope of DB Academy ever getting aired or can you tell us any information on the new episodes. I want to know all the info on that whole matter of DB Academy.

I'm from Boston, Massachusetts(in the US if anyone didn't know)

I'd assume that one racer from Down City is accepted with some of their crew per year, and everyone else there is either from other cities (if they exist--now there's another question!) or Sun City.

Sai - March 16, 2007 12:55 AM (GMT)
HI.

In "Cain's Mutany" why did Cain say "this is no longer a council of 12 it's a council of 11? Shouldn't he be adding a number not subtracting?

or

Are there any other crews other than the ones we know of? And what does Dorsal look like with out his helment (don't think I've seen him with out it on.)

And I'm from a city in Montana. (that's all I can say)

Burnout Beau - March 16, 2007 03:32 AM (GMT)
Considering that dolphinliss and Draconium has already asked regarding the show's future, I guess I'll ask other things.

Before being chosen by Beau, why Artha hated dragons in the first place?

BTW, I'm from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

dolphinliss - March 16, 2007 03:38 AM (GMT)

BlueBooster - March 16, 2007 10:15 PM (GMT)
Ok here's some questions from me:

are there more bonemarks out there?

does the muhorta have a rider?

other than the boosters of the 5 colours of power and balance would it be possible there where more boosters but not as powerful as the 5?

and whatever happened to Artha's mother and does he have any other relatives out there?

The Furox - March 17, 2007 04:41 AM (GMT)
QUOTE (Sai @ Mar 15 2007, 05:55 PM)
Why is the council of 12 called the council of 12?

Actually, I can answer that one for you. It's the called the Council of 12 because there are 12 colors of draconium and 12 crews that represent the 12 draconium empires from ancient times.

Perhaps you want to re-phrase your question to ask something like how come it's still called the Council of 12 given that the Prophets, the Mechanists and the Keepers don't seem to participate. Or do they somehow participate from behind the scenes and we just haven't see it?

Or you can edit your posting to ask a completely different question. Your choice.

QUOTE (Draconium @ Mar 15 2007, 07:53 PM)
Or better question when in the world are they gonna start the new season, they are just showing rerun on Jetix

We know the answer to this one already, too: the answer is no one knows. As of this week, they still have not sold the remaining episodes yet. I pretty much guarantee that Rob will tell us the moment that should happen, so you don't need to ask that question. I'd edit your posting and pick a different question.

And remember, each person gets one question so if you posted more than one question, I'm only going to take the first. So make sure that's the one you really want to know. If not, edit your posting to re-arrange the questions.

My question to The Magna Draconis:

Could you please elaborate on how you envisioned the division between the various factions involved in the first Dragon-Human War? From the prelude in the first episode, it sounds like the war was strictly between dragons and humans. But the written mythology on dragonbooster.com seems to imply it was more complex than this. It talks about the various Draconium Empires being at war with each other, but it also mentions that there were allegiances as well. For example, it says that some red dragons were allies of the Dragon Booster, but we also know from "Fanning the Flames" that other red dragons like Furox fought the Dragon Booster. Further, Armeggaddon said he commanded an army of dragons, and Furox is shown with a rider, so it seems that at least some dragons remained loyal to their humans. How common was this? Were there also independent dragons fighting against independent humans? It sounds like this war was a complex multi-sided conflict, but maybe I'm reading too much into it. Thanks for clarifying your vision of how the war played out.

Why does Moordryd's compund look like a concert venue?

Nemi the Nen - March 17, 2007 08:36 PM (GMT)
I think after questions are collected they should be communally collatted and refined to get the most out of them as possible.

Like instead of: "Where there any other boosters?" and "What was the blue booster called?" ask "Where there any other boosters and what were they all called?"

Like how Furox said for Sai's question. Of course I'd ask what is the Seer of the Dragon Eyes and what does this person do/why are they called that?

By the by, Furox, how much time do we have to get all the questions together?

Yes, I was going to try and do something like this. We all should feel free to offer suggestions to people who have already posted questions to try and get the most out of them. It would be great if people would consider the feedback they get and update their question. That will save time getting this all together.

QUOTE

The date's not firm, but I set a cut-off for posting questions of March 25th. We can take a few days to refine the list after that.

By the way, if anyone wants to ask a question but can't think of a good, just ask me. I've got a huge list. :)

Salazaar - March 18, 2007 12:53 AM (GMT)
How do you get baby dragons like Fracshun? Where are the dragons parents? You never see their parents, and you never hear of egg-laying places. Where did all those baby dragon eggs come from when Morrdryd had to steal them so they could be mutated by that black draconium pod? Do the female dragons ever get pregnant?

If there's a way you could summarize that, I'd be greatful. ^^

I also wanna know more about Libris. How did he get to the Dragon Eye compound so fast? How does he eat? What does he eat? Is he alive? Is he like an undead zombie dragon? Is Rivett his rider? What did he do in the Dragon-Human war? etc.

Whoops, USA Michigan

I'm curious to know more about first Dragon booster

Armageddon is one of the most interesting character in DB, his armor and his shape are very detailed and lovely. My question is that whan primitives like Artha and Lance can escape shadow track in matter of minutes, why would someone (Called Legendary by Morthis) very powerful like Armageddon was stuck-up inside shadow track for tooo long???

Good question!

Maybe we could expand it and ask about the whole story how he got there in the first palce, what held him and if it was his worst fear, what is it?

Just a suggestion ^^;

Hi guys Im new to your group but Im not a complete outsider. Ive been talking to The Furox for a few months and he told me about this site.
My question for MAGNA DRACONIS is: Would you tell us more about Hydrags and their habits. Why are they loyal to Beau? And, Did they play a part in the original Dragon-Human War? Thank you very much!!!
Looking foreward to chatting more some time. By the way, My name is Ron Foster and I live in Grants Pass Oregon USA. Ill be posting a picture as soon as I get a scanner.

Nemi the Nen - March 24, 2007 07:59 AM (GMT)
Okay, today/tomorrow is the 24th. So let's get refining and collating to maximize our questions.

...I don't think we have 20, though, so I'll add in a few more

Tyranis Pax, Gold Bone dragon or not? His extra set of arms, gear or not?

Question:

What's outside the boundaries of Dragon City? Is it a wilderness?

Yeah, exacly: How does the rest of the planet look like? Are there other cities like Dragon City? I'd like to know more about them.

If there is room left for more questions, I'd also like to know:

1. About the Keepers crew. Does everybody in the crew look so
mouse-like like Stewardd? Whare are they hiding and doing?
2. The Mechanists crew and their dragons. Since grey-boned dragons have disappeard, does it mean the crew doesn't exist? And if they are somewhere aout there, where? And what are they up to?
3. How did Word and Connor become orphans?

Sarah Frost - March 24, 2007 09:26 AM (GMT)
QUOTE
How did Word and Connor become orphans?

Their parents died. :P

What about, as well:

a. Were the names Paynn and Penn given to them by the priests, or are they from their parents (especially "the Paynn name")?
b. Why did the priests choose to take them specifically?
c. Do the priests regularly adopt orphans?

Two more questions:

1. Do Dragon Priestesses exist, separately or alongside the priests?
2. What dragons did the original Boosters ride?

A few of you guys asked about armageddon and mentioned his armor. I think that somehow he has managed to fuse a bone mark into it so he is stronger and can also channel more Mag energy. Perhaps that is why Connor called him ledgendary.

The Furox - March 24, 2007 10:36 PM (GMT)
OK, we have 20 questions (actually more than 20 if you count the multi-part questions) so I think we'll start wrapping this up. I'm hoping we'll get a chance to ask more in the future, so let's hope this goes well.

I pulled the questions together as shown below. I took the liberty of augmenting people's questions where I thought it was reasonable to ask a little more. I also fixed spelling and grammar here and there. If you don't like what I added to your particular question, just send me PM and let me know how you'd like it worded.

I'll wait a few days so people can look this over, then I'll send it in sometime early next week.
