Title: A 'Digimon' World
Description: Inquire within, please. Title fail.

So, I woke up this morning with a craving for a Digimon RP, and a somewhat particular one at that.

I was contemplating this idea, some time ago (probably while playing Pokemon...), about a world where everyone knows about Digimon, and they more or less replace our animals and the like. The origins of Digimon would probably be different (I mean, if they've been around since forever, they couldn't have come from computers and the like). The world would be advanced, technologically like ours (maybe with more things relying heavily upon the digimon, such as travel, but essentially things would be like our world now. But with Digimon. So better.).

Anyways, I was thinking (that like in pokemon), at a certain age (probably 15-19ish) people would be given a rookie level Digimon, that has been raised specially to take care of said person, and then go on a journey (that doesn't mean they have to LIKE the person they are protecting, though).

Where they can 'catch' more Digimon. I've not yet considered how, but I'd really like that, because there are so many Digimon I like, and I'm sure other people like, that they've not had a chance to use. There'd be some limit on this, to keep things from getting completely insane, but again, that's not something that I've really thought out a great deal.

So yeah, mostly I was just wondering if anyone liked the idea, and would want to contribute to it any.

And also, should this become an RP, I'd be looking for someone to run it with me. I really like coming up with ideas and stuff (I have lots of thinking time at work while doing somewhat automated actions), I'm a flake when it comes to some other things...

Work is another reason I'd like someone to run it with me. It takes a lot out of me some days, so any burden relieved from me by a partner would be appreciated more than they'd ever know.

So yeah. ^^;

OMG, Slaye! Hey, long time no see ^^

This idea sort of reminds me of that RP you did on DDF(for whatever reason, the name totally escapes me xD), but I'd most likely be joining here. I'll offer to co-GM, but I'd kind of like to wait and see if anyone else in interested in doing it first.

Think of me as backup, lol. But yeah, I'll give this a shot for sure.

Hehe, good to see you again, Tailer.

Yeah, I forget the name too, to be honest. But I'm glad to hear you're interested in co-GMing. ^^
At any rate, I was reminded earlier, that should people be busy, or be iffy on whether or not they'll have time, characters would be able come and go, meaning people could join or take absences as needed.

And, I'm not going to be picky about what people start with, or limit to 'one dragon, one deep saver, etc..' because that always bothers me, and it's particularly annoying/discouraging when you've only options that you don't like to choose between.

I guess people could play multiple characters, as well, if they pleased.

As for catching/obtaining Digimon, I'm still sort of mauling over how that should work. Obviously befriending a Digimon would be one way, but for capturing/actual containment it's hard to say what would be best at this point. Hm.

I'd be interested in playing, if you'd have me. It sounds like an interesting idea and may quell the inkling I've had for this kind of RP (the journey aspect).

For capturing, you could try some sort of dark ring/black gear concept, like some sort of something or other that the digimon wears or has shot at it to calm it down and help ally it to the trainer, unless some sort of portable digivice system designed to hold a single digimon after being defeated would work better.

.. Countdown to Verdict?

Just popping in here to say that this looks pretty promising/interesting to me, so I'll likely try and toss in an application when the thread is up. =)

Also, I've got an idea about the containment thing... well, it's really Slaye's when she was GM-ing CV, I just recalled it and thought that I still really liked the concept. How about keeping them inside PDAs (the electronic device, not public displays of affection... yeah.)? I'm thinking that if they're basically still digital monsters, the idea of turning them into data for safekeeping inside a data-storing device isn't too out there.

As for capturing, there's this system in Digimon World 2 that involves gaining a mon's approval by gifts, as well as winning a battle against them. I'm thinking that if digimon are still sentient beings here, one of the ways to gain their protection/obedience/loyalty could be a trainer/tamer/whatever challenging them into battle. If they win, suppose some Digimon would see them as worthy and follow the human. As for those not so competitive/aggressive, gifts could work. And for some, maybe the tamer would have to both shell out gifts and battle them. Of course this all can ultimately be seen as just another way of befriending, but just throwing out ideas here. ^^;

YEAH! Countdown to Verdict. Good call, Arc.

Lessee... I like Arc's idea of a PDA, but I got a better one that expands a bit.

An all purpose digivice. Get a digimon to join you(again, I like his way, just win their approval in some way.) Then they reside in your special Digivice until they're needed to fight. If you wanted, it wouldn't be hard at all to incorporate some Xros-wars stuff, like combining them in certain ways, etc. If you wanted to, that.

However, I do vote DNA digivolving. And I also vote we keep it 'DNA' evolution too... since DDF has ruined the word Jogress for me... If we use Jogress, I'll think of nothing but digimon fucking to form a new digimon... >_>

And yeah.

But yeah, Slaye, I can help out with the digivice design, and such. I think we should try and get this RP up and going, it sounds promising, and I'm willing to bet there'll be more people, than just showing here, interested in joining. Like new members.

On that note, maybe asking for an 'RP Sample' at the sign up is a good idea, to gauge where people are at.

Aaaand yeah.

If I'ma probably end up being co-GM, we'll probably wanna chat some other way besides forum, for simplicity. My MSN/AIM crap is in my profile so... Yeah. xD

Sure, Ice, I'll allow you to join, if you please.

As for the black gear/dark ring thing, that sort of seems more like making a Digimon a slave rather than a companion. I could see maybe less moral people/evil people using something like that, though.

Which reminds me, that I guess people would need/have goals for such a journey, hm? What sort, I wonder... To be the very best? Like no one ever was? To catch them is their real test? To train them is their real cause? /nerd

Anyways, back on track. I think the all purpose digivice should work. Storing Digimon during 'down time' would probably be essential to toning down on the chaos, especially once there are multiple following one person. xD

I never really got into Xros wars myself, but with that being said, if other people want to do such things, they can go right ahead. Maybe that could be a tamer specialization or something?

And I do also like the idea of DNA digivolving (I never called it jogressing to start, soooo.), both involving two digimon belong to a single tamer and a digimon from two different tamers, or whatever.

Yeah, I guess it wouldn't hurt to stick up a sign up page, that would give people a chance to work leisurely on their characters.

Looks like you're stuck being my co-GM, Tailer. xD I'll add you on MSN now, and we can decide from there what else (besides RP Sample, and the basics) that we should include. ^^
