The reason why I'm writing this review (it might not even be a review) is because... The main story itself is so beautiful. So far there is no English scanlation yet, I simply have the Malay version; allowed by SHOGAKUKAN INC. to translate it into Malay. And it's the only,
only shoujo manga I have ever read that brings me to tears, over and over again.
And,
SPOILERS AHEAD. Don't read if you don't want to know what happens - from me.
As you have read the main plot there... It's not just that. It might sound so simple, but really; the whole thing is complicated. It took me two reads to figure out the whole thing. It requires some critical thinking, really.
It starts off with Hikari, about to head off for school and she was talking to her step-sister Suzuko; a fairly good-looking maiden but incredibly humble about it. Kousuke walked into the room, as he is the sisters' private tutor. The topic of Hikari's engagement with a military soldier, Junnosuke; was also brought up.
She knew that despite the fact she was a daughter to a mistress, she had to continue living even though she had feelings for someone else. She knew she should feel grateful for being engaged to a young soldier, who wanted her heart.
While at school, Akari met with Junnosuke and talked to him for a while, then sent a letter to Hikari, saying "I met with Junnosuke today. He's very cheerful," and Hikari ran to see Junnosuke and asked him if Akari said anything awkward or off. (Hint: Hikari having feelings for another person and not Junnosuke. And of course, Akari didn't.) They talked for a while, especially about Akari. Junnosuke said, "Usually when there are twins, one die and one continues on living. But you're lucky to have a living twin."
Returning back home, Hikari saw a note on her desk, saying, "I wish to talk to you," from Akari. Hikari frowned at this, knowing she will never see her.
Hikari reminisced on her past with them... The Hazumi family. She was glad, and grateful to have been accepted in the family 10 years ago (Hikari is currently 16 years old, so when she moved in to Hazumi family, she was only 6), but out of all, she fell in love with her tutor. All he did was say "Hikari, you are smart. You should get into an All-Girl's school. Your [step] parents will like it!" and she felt admired, loved.
The next day, Suzuko told her mother that she wanted to marry Kousuke, and it was sealed. Hikari watched her sister smiling happily at this but kept everything to her heart.
It did hurt so much. To lie. To not be able to love that one person you want.To read more, please
read here.
It's really long, so I'm giving you a choice here; whether to only read so far or read the whole thing on my blog.
I recommend you to buy the manga, at
Kinokuniya or
Shogakukan but they're both in Japanese so... ^^;;
More info on how to get/read this book, please click on the link to my blog.
I hope it's fine, being fragmented like this. I really would like to give people a choice whether to continue reading or not.
