OOC: Drak’s slowly-written digimon almanac/encyclopedia. Made to be an easy guide for digimon and humans alike… hopefully if it’s good enough tamers could access it IC and use information from it. Please pm me with suggestions and criticism.)
Drak’s Digital World Encyclopedia.
Introduction: Dear readers, I have started this encyclopedia so that you, whether tamer, digimon, or perhaps neither, can understand the digital world in a simple, easy-to understand and easy to use book. Perhaps this will fufill your curiosity, or at the most extreme, help you during a quest. Forgive my ego, though, perhaps you just got this book to see what it was.
This, my friends, is the digital world handbook, which I have started for beginners and experts. With information slowly collected over my experience as a tamer, my partners and I proudly present you with knowledge of the digital world, digimon, humans, and the area we share. Thank you for reading, Sincerely, Drak
Entry 1: Digimon
Digimon: Perhaps the most important question for any new tamer is, “what is a digimon.” If you’ve already figured it out, skip forward for other info on tamership. If not, well, digimon are creatures made out of computer data who live in this area, named the digital world. However, just because they are data doesn’t mean that they are not as real as you or I. These creatures come in many different species, based on different data collected from what I will refer to the ‘human world’*, but essentially they are all similar forms of data, with some acceptations.
Digimon live throughout this world, as it is their home. However, you will find creatures besides digimon, also made of data, and humans. Other chapters will cover this.
Most humans who come to the world arrive in the world with either a hatched child-level digimon, or an egg that will hatch. This will become your partner digimon, your other half in a way. They will usually be with you throughout your journey, though this depends on the tamer and digimon. No one understands quite yet what draws a human and a particular partner together at the moment., tohuh there are theories as to why digimon get human partners and vise versa (one theory is that since the digital world often is often dangerous, digimon evolved a symbiotic relationship with humans to survive.)
When you get a digimon your are considered a ‘tamer’. Your digimon is your partner digimon. You draw strength off each other, with the human helping with strategy, items, and cards. Digimon use their natural born abilities. Each digimon has a multitude of attacks they can use. Unfortunately, no matter how you feel about fighting, you will probably end up in a battle or two. Don’t worry, digimon never truly die… they just disappear for awhile.
Data, Vaccine, and Virus types: Digimon are divided in multiple ways. One of these is type, which can be considered the type of data they were built from. Vaccine digimon are often digimon with high attack power and courage. They have been considered the most heroic type, but this may be a biased assumption.
Vaccine digimon have an advantage over Virus digimon, but are weak to Data digimon.
Data digimon usually have high defense. Some consider them t he middle ground between Vaccine and Virus, but once more, this is a biased assumption. They are strong against Vaccine digimon, but weak against virus digimon.
Virus digimon are known for their cunning. And, you guessed it, a biased assumption: many Virus digimon are considered evil, which stems from the fact many use dark-type attacks. They are strong against Data, and weak against Vaccine.
Partnerships: Partnerships between humans and digimon are important for both parties. Through the human, the digimon gains power, and through the digimon, the human has a chance to survive in the new world they have fallen into. Each partnership is different, and should be respected, even if a tamer pair you meet acts differently than you and your partner. Tamers can have up to four digimon partners, but at the moment, there is no limit to the tamers a digimon can partner with.
Cards: Modify cards, bought at the shop or found during adventures, often increase a digimon’s abilities during battle. They can change the field, the digimon, give a weapon, or do a myriad of things. Buy a pack and try them at the training center. Some more advanced tamers come up with combinations of cards to make their attacks stronger.
Evolution: There are six general levels of digivolution/evolution from a digi egg: Fresh/Baby 1, In-Training/Baby 2, Rookie/Child, Champion/Adult, Ultimate/Perfect, and Mega/Ultimate. Use either name for the level you want, just make sure not to confuse yourself about the ultimate. Anyway, as you can guess, each level gets progressively stronger. It takes time to get to Mega/Ultimate, so don’t be frustrated if your partner is stuck as a Perfect for a few months. There are also other evolutions, which I will elaborate on further. The following is how a digimon can evolves. Keep in mind that evolving is a tiring process, so newly evolved digimon may not always be able to keep their higher forms for longer periods of time.
Normal: Energy from the Digivice allows an experienced digimon to go to their next form. This is generally how digimon evolve from eggs to Champions/Adult levels.
Crest: There are three ways to get perfect digimon and beyond. This is the first method. Crests are rare items found by very lucky tamers that allow their digimon to evolve using the power of a virtue their tamer represents, a bit like the armor evolution listed below. I stress that these crests are rare, as well as small, and only one virtue per person.
Digi-Soul: The emotions of a tamer become digitized, in a way. The digimon charges their evolution from the tamers’ emotion. While it doesn’t require any other times than the tamer themselves, it can quickly exhaust the tamer. Suffice it to say, as well, emotionless tamers will find this route useless.
Blue Card: Not much is known about this, except a modify card is chosen at random, and when slashed, allow evolution past Perfect for a digimon. Convenient if you don’t want to exhaust yourself with emotions or looking for a crest at the risk of a rare card disappearing forever.
Armor: Digimon aren’t the only thing that come in digi-eggs. Or rather, they are. Let me start again. Digi-mentals, Also nickname ddigi-eggs, are a different sort of egg that allows a digimon to evolve into an armor digimon. Armor digimon usually have the power of an adult or ultimate digimon, but digimon need less experience to evolve into them. Like crests, they=each have a virtue associated with them, but multiple different people can share a virtue of digi-egg.
DNA: Two different digimon of the same level, usually adult/champion or perfect evolve together to create a more powerful digimon of the next level. This has a myriad of advantages and disadvantages, based on the fact that one digimon is controlled by two digimon, who may have trouble working together. However, when both tamers and digimon work together, this creates an incredibly powerful digimon with the power of two in one. I’m not explaining this right. Anyway, digimon can only have on partner with DNA evolution, so its’ a good idea for tamers and digimon to choose their DNA partners carefully.
Matrix: also called Bio-emerging. A very rare evolution in which a human and digimon evolve into one partner to create a very powerful Mega/ultimate digimon. Like DNA evolution, except, obviously, using a human tamer. The bond between the digimon and tamer obviously has a huge role in this. The evolution heavily exhausts all involved so be prepared.
Spirit: Hey humans, ever wanted to turn into digimon, but can’t Bio-emerge? Pay attention! Tiny statues are spread throughout the digital world. They depict digimon who’s power are sealed inside. If a human finds the right spirit, they can evolve into a humanoid digimon with the power of a champion/adult digimon. They will be unable to use cards or their Digivice while in this form, but now have all the abilities of the digimon spirit. With enough experience and luck, the tamer can find a more powerful beast digimon spirit, with the power of a perfect digimon. Eventually a tamer can combine the two spirits together to create a third digimon based off the previous ones with the power of an mega/ultimate. These are based on attributes such as magic, fire, ice, etc, not virtues.
Burst: With enough power gained through a digi-soul, a tamer can have their digimon’s mega/ultimate form become a more powerful version. I haven’t done much research on this.
Dark: When a tamer feels too much negative emotion, their digimon will feel it. Sometimes digimon will evolve into a dark version of their normal evolution, during which they are consumed by hatred. Great tamers can use this to their advantage, however. They’re digimon, and most likely, surrounding tamers won’t appreciate it, though.
Deletion: When a digimon is attacked with such force they can no longer retain their data information, they die, or become deleted. Their data floats back to primary village, where the data reforms and the digimon are reborn, though sometimes with memory loss, a new evolution line, etc. Damaged or corrupted data has trouble reforming.
*for simplicity, all human worlds will be considered one world in this chapter, but most tamers come from different human worlds, a subject I’ll go into deeper later.
