Title: Return to Training, Take Two
Description: [Closed for Inactivity]
Fangren - January 6, 2011 04:13 AM (GMT)
((Vn approved this restart, and I'm just going to assume that it wouldn't cause an additional fee. If a staff member objects, I'd be happy to take and additional 50 from Joseph's pile-o-loot.))
Tamer Name: Joseph Wilson
Digimon Species: Candmon
Battle Type: Opponent
Field Area: Grassy field surrounded by mountains.
(16,410 - 50 = 16,360)
"I do not see how this place is able to provide a proper battle experience. I do not see any realistic environment, merely a rather drab-looking room." Ren commented, upon walking into the arena and quickly glancing around. "In training, we should seek to utilize the world around us to the fullest extent possible."
"Ah, well, just give it a minute." Joseph responded, having finished his specifications. Kid followed shortly behind, as he was prone to do, whereas Gwen preferred to stay at her partner's side. "Like I said earlier, this place can simulate all sorts of different locations."
"Hnn. I fail to see how this place can simulate...any...thing..." Ren remained unimpressed, until the facility's holographic generators whirred into action, and the landscape that Joseph had specified shimmered into existence right before his group's eyes. "I stand corrected."
The battlefield was very wide open, and had quite magnificent scenery. They were in the middle of a grassy meadow in the middle of spring, and judging by what could be seen far in the distance all around them, they were in a rather mountainous part of the world. The rich blue sky was partly cloudy, the wind was blowing quite warmly, and the grass was up to Joseph's knees (a little less than two feet high).
"Ah, I think I made a good choice. We should find a place in the Digital World that looks like this some time." He sighed happily, as Kid eagerly floated around, checking out the areas before their opponents arrived. Ren, wanting a better view of the promised battle, flew to the top of Joseph's head. Gwen, though irritated by Ren's choice of perch, decided to just enjoy the beautiful scenery before it inevitably got ruined in the fight.

Tamer Name: Zack Knight
Digimon Species: Tailmon
Battle Type: Opponent
Field Area: Grassy field surrounded by mountains.
(17,602 - 50 = 17,552)
Zack leisurely stretched his arms over his head as he passed into the training fields. "Oh, sorry Aura," he said, having jostled the dozing Tsukaimon resting on his head.
"It's alllriiiGGGhhhh," Aura yawned, rousing slowly and stretching. She arched her back, flexed her wings, and shook, before settling back down on her tamer's head. "Back to the training fields again?"
"Yep," Glacier answered from somewhere below. The Tailmon moved in step with Zack, though preferring quadrupedal locomotion. Despite being his original partner, Glacier was the least advanced due to her long separation from him. She was more than happy spend time working to catch up.
Rounding out the group was the ever-unspeaking Orion, walking along to Zack's other side. The Dorugamon's fierce orange eyes swept back and forth and his nostrils puffed occasionally, part of his constant vigil for any threat to Zack. His form was the largest of the three Digimon by far, and it only seemed fitting that a bodyguard should have such a menacing appearance with dark fur, wild eyes, and ruby claws.
The door ahead split open, parting with a hiss. Beyond was a room totally different from the stark, clean interiors of the training facility. As Zack's boots made the transition from polished floor to soft grass, he could have thought they'd traveled miles outside the city.
As the doors closed behind the group, returning the appearance of the illusion, Glacier cast her eyes to the surroundings. "Mountains again, eh?" she mused, before turning her eyes to the group opposite them. The grass, she noticed, was rather long, making it a bit harder for her to move around.
"Looks that way," said Zack. He looked briefly to the opposing team, contemplating each present Digimon, and then noting the other young man's eye patch. He looks about my age... I'm not sensing anything though. He let out the slightest breath.
"Hi there," Zack said, coming to a halt once he was reasonably close to the other group. "Name's Zack. This is Aura, Glacier, and Orion," he gestured to each in turn. Aura smiled and waved. Glacier simply nodded. Orion's nose quivered, sniffing the scents carried toward him off the strangers rather vigorously.

"Ah, looks like I finally get to fight another guy..." Joseph muttered, watching the other group of four approach. True enough, the opposing tamer was a tough-looking blond about Joseph's age and size. He was flanked by a Tailmon on one side and some large, furry, dragon-looking digimon on the other; a smaller bat-like digimon, which Joseph assumed was a Tsukaimon, sat on the young man's head. I suppose I could check the D-Ban to get their stats, Joseph considered as the cool-looking guy's group drew closer, but that's kinda pointless at the moment.
"Hi there. Name's Zack." Upon reaching a spot he apparently felt suitable, the young man began introducing himself and his team. "This is Aura," the Tsukaimon, who waved cheerily. "Glacier," the Tailmon, giving a curt nod. "and Orion." The boy's name and voice seemed somehow familiar to Joseph, but he couldn't quite place him. Dismissing the thought, Joseph took his turn.
"Ah, I'm Joseph. Joseph Wilson." He gave his fellow tamer a short bow of his head before continuing. "He's Kid." sticking his thumb over his left shoulder at the floating Candmon, who gave an eager cry of "Hiya!" to his opponents. "She's Gwen." He pointed at the Tailmon standing to his right, who had been studying the differences between her and the first Tailmon other than herself she'd seen in quite some time, rubbing her green-gloved hands. Her own "Hello" was short and absent-minded. "Lastly, this is Ren." Joseph finished with his third partner, the poncho-wearing Hawkmon currently standing on his head. Ren merely grunted an acknowledgment; his gaze had fallen on Orion the moment he'd laid eyes on the creature.
"Ah, though, it's just Kid that'll be fighting today." Joseph explained, making a mental note that he himself would be supporting him as well, since he needed to practice using the Archon Seal. "He can reach Perfect, but..." He paused briefly, looking at his partner behind him as he recalled what had happened the first time Mystimon had appeared; Kid merely gave his aniki a confused look in return. "Ah, well, as it is, we don't intend on calling upon that form today if we can avoid it. So, ah..." His one good eye turned from Zack's team back to the floating child.
"I'm ready, aniki." Kid nodded, floating forward. Ren and Gwen steeled prepared themselves as well, though they would be nothing but spectators in this match. Nodding back to his first friend in this world, Joseph looked back at Zack.
"Ah, well, whenever you're ready I guess." He finished with a hesitant and somewhat awkward smile.

"Nice to meet you," said Aura, and it was Zack's turn for a simple nod of agreement. "It's not too often we see a tamer with three partners too," she commented, her warm yellow eyes lingering on Gwen. Though she shared the same form of the upstart Glacier, Tikal was actually the first Tailmon that usually came to mind. She wondered if Gwen would be as playful.
"One on one?" Glacier said, turning her gaze from the towering Joseph to the floating Kid. "Sounds good to me. I'll be fighting this one."
"Yeah," Zack said, looking from Glacier back to Joseph. "Glacier's about the same, so I figure fair is fair." A look of irritation briefly passed over the feline's face, but it only lasted a bit.
"Alright then," Zack said, backing up slowly. Now that the pleasantries had passed, it only made sense to give Kid and Glacier some space. Aura stretched again and settled down on her head, happy to watch Glacier fight again, while Orion remained steady at Zack's side. His sniffing died down, and he seemed to decide that none of the other four where any threat.
Glacier waited, giving Joseph's group the same chance to put some distance between them. She wasn't thrilled about having to hold back on her recently acquired evolution. Feh, I guess there will be other times to show off.
Her blue gaze locked on the Candmon. "Ready?" she said, flexing her claws, swishing her tail. Her whole little body coiled, tensing to strike, building up the energy cats were famous for.
"Cat's Eye!" she cried, opening with the closest thing her species had to a ranged attack. The hypnotic surge wouldn't really hurt a target on its own, barring them dazedly knocking into something, but it would hopefully daze Kid enough to give Glacier the chance to do some real damage.
Fangren - January 15, 2011 09:05 PM (GMT)
Seeing the bulk of Zack's group retreat to give their comrade some room to fight, Joseph and Gwen did the same (Ren, still perched on his tamer's head, had little choice in the matter but agreed with the move nonetheless).
Kid remained in the air where he had been, staring at his designated opponent. He nodded when she asked "Ready?", signaling the start of their match. Glacier struck first, a hypnotic beam surging from her eyes to Kid. He hadn't been expecting a ranged attack, and wasn't familiar with the one she had used, so the Candmon lost his opportunity to dodge.
The attack didn't hurt a bit. In fact, Kid felt rather giddy after taking the hit, and quickly lost focus. He began twirling around, giggling madly, eyes unfocused as he spiraled slowly downward, leaving himself completely open.
Gwen grimaced. This is why I don't like using that attack. It doesn't seem...right.
Neither Joseph nor Ren spoke a word, though for quite different reasons. The latter was content with watching the fight and saw no reason to interfere. The former, though concerned, also knew that he'd get his first chance at testing something out, should the need arise so soon.
Vn70072 - January 16, 2011 04:09 PM (GMT)
"Cat Punch!" Glacier surged forward, using all the stored energy of her coiled position. She lunged at the dazed Candmon, drawing back her fist and striking. Simple, but effective enough.
Zack meanwhile had turned his focus to the d-ban's analyzer. The display buzzed with all the various bits of information to be known about the target species. Candmon, Data, Nightmare Soldiers. Only a child...? Not exactly an even match so far, but Kid should be able to go higher if he feels the need. Attacks... His gaze drifted further down the display. Again, he thought with a mental sigh. Looks like Candmon's mostly a ranged fighter, that could be trouble for Glacier but it looks like she's figured out how to work her way around it.
Zack wondered if she had learned that sort of trick before they got separated, or if she had picked it up later to survive on her own while she looked for him.
The tamer took a breath and cleared his mind, setting his eyes on the battle. He wasn't likely to need his digisoul, and while a time for cards would likely come, it wasn't so yet.
Fangren - January 16, 2011 06:19 PM (GMT)
As to be expected, Glacier followed through on her stunning hit with a solid physical hit on Kid, sending the Candmon flying backwards into the tall grass. Though his friends looked worried, he soon recovered from both the hit and the bout of hypnotism he'd been hit with earlier. Having come to his senses and realized that his opponent had a ranged attack, he figured it would be best to make himself harder to hit by moving around. Having already practiced aiming while in motion, he was confident he'd be able to get a lock on his feline foe.
Joseph watched as his partner got in the air again, and circled around Glacier in a clockwise fashion. He felt that the basic idea behind what Kid was doing was correct, but was worried that his friend's present speed wouldn't be enough to outwit his adult-level opponent. Kid had the range advantage, that was certain, but in terms of raw speed and strength he'd undoubtedly be outclassed. Joseph decided to allow Kid to continue fighting like this for a bit more before giving the order to evolve.
Kid, concentrating on the fight, decided to make his first move. "Melt Wax!" he shouted, flinging a single glob of his trademark molten wax at Glacier, not caring where it hit so long as it slowed her down.
Vn70072 - January 18, 2011 04:40 PM (GMT)
Joseph's concern proved correct, as with a single foe to face, Glacier turned and tracked Kid as he tried to circle her. She watched with all the interest of a normal cat tracking an unfortunate bird that had landed in her yard, and waiting just the same for the right moment to strike.
"Melt Wax!
The Tailmon sprang to the side, causing the bulk of the molten sludge to miss her. However it splashed on impact, delivering a handful of searing drops to Glacier's flank. Her lip twitched, her whiskers quivered, and then she pushed off again, lunging at Kid, this time in a slightly more upright stance. "Cat Kick!" she cried, swinging her leg up.
Fangren - January 18, 2011 05:47 PM (GMT)
Disappointingly, Kid's attack had only managed to slightly damage Glacier, and then only due to splashing. Like I thought, she won't be the easiest target to hit. Joseph sighed.
Then the Tailmon did something that made the young man smile: she jumped at her opponent with a cry of "Cat Kick!", putting her into the air and significantly decreasing her ability to dodge. Granted, she was coming up on Kid pretty fast, but the Child wasn't quite the naive fool he seemed. He knew well enough to keep his distance, so as his foe made her approach, he made his retreat. When she leapt at him, he saw an opening and struck with another "Melt Wax".
Aha, this looks promising. It looks like Kid has more or less figured out his strengths and weaknesses, and generally how to fight...just a bit more and we can move on to today's main purpose.
Vn70072 - January 20, 2011 01:10 AM (GMT)
Kid dodged, as Glacier had thought he might be able to when not dazed. His move meant her feet had just made contact with the ground again on the spot he'd vacated when Kid lobbed another wax projectile her way.
Though there wasn't much time to dodge, Glacier tried nonetheless, going at an angle that both carried her out of the attack's path and toward Kid's general direction. Her efforts were less successful than before, and several larger globs caught her side, searing painfully. Her whiskers bristled and her lips pulled back in a fang-revealing snarl, but she was already on the move toward Kid again.
She figured she should try another hit unassisted, as using a hypnotic effect on Kid over and over would probably prove more taxing to her than simply trying her skill against his. Once she was close enough, she struck again. "Cat Punch!" She aimed for Kid's base, both due to it being the lowest part of him, easily reached, and in the hope that a hit there might throw him off balance.
Fangren - January 23, 2011 06:26 PM (GMT)
((Meh post is meh.))
Kid kept moving even after he'd launched his attack, and was glad he'd managed to hit Glacier, even if it was only a little. The cat seemed to be getting angry now, judging by her snarl, but that did not affect her ability to fight. As swift as always, she closed the distance Kid had put between them with the ease expected of an Adult, and launched her "Cat Punch!" towards the Candmon's greatest weakness while he was in the air: his bronze base. It wasn't that the metallic candlestick was the weakest part of him, but rather if it got hit while he was floating he was sure to lose his balance and tumble head-over-heel (or flame-over-stick in his case) to the ground.
Thinking quickly, Kid managed to let loose a quick "Bonfire!" though he was moving too quickly to see what direction the fireball had been launched in. It was a rather reckless move, but as he crashed into the grassy field once more.
((Fufu, I'll let you decide where that Bonfire goes...))
Vn70072 - January 29, 2011 01:16 AM (GMT)
Glacier skidded to the side, but she need barely have bothered with the hastily-launched Bonfire. She felt a flicker of warmth, but no more than a relaxing campfire. Even better, her attempt to knock him down seemed to have worked. That would help her move to her preferred theater of close-in combat, rather than having to soldier through fighting at a range. "Cat Punch!" she cried again, pouncing upon Kid like a cat upon her prey.
While the Bonfire had missed any of the combatants, the vector it happened to have been launched upon had it sailing toward the point from which Zack and the rest of his group was observing the battle.
"Zackie!" Aura cried out in warning, but before Zack could move, Orion stepped forward. A low growl came from the Dorugamon's throat, followed by a gleaming sphere of hard metal, launched at high speed. Metal struck fire, creating a small explosion but negating the attack where it couldn't harm anyone.
