Title: Here Goes Nothing
Trial - December 27, 2010 03:15 PM (GMT)
Tamer Name: Quinn Shi
Digimon Species: Piyomon
Battle Type: Hologram
Field Area: Random
7150 - 50 = 7100
She stood before the entrance of the training fields as she listened to Kateri explain the mechanics of battling. The girl scowled nervously; never before in her life had she tried to hit someone, physically, and the Piyomon was making it sound like it was a complete ordinary and normal thing. But she swallowed her questions until the end; she didn't have long before her first hand-on experience, and any information absorbed was useful.
"...And that's how you fight." Piyomon finished. "Any question?"
"Just one: What happens if we die?"
"We won't," the Digimon answered bravely. "But in the case we do, I will turn back into an egg and start afresh. And you..." She paused with a frown. "Don't worry, I'll protect you and you should be fine if you just stayed out of the way. And this is a training battle, so the worst that could happen is me fainting out. It's completely safe."
"Um, okay."
They entered one of the battle rooms and the lights flickered on at the motion. The entire field was empty and lifeless, but Kateri knew that would change in a matter of seconds.
Redtide - December 28, 2010 01:43 AM (GMT)
Ruthlessness and calmness washed over the battlefield as the pitch turned into a sandy beach surrounded by sea. They were now on an island, with a sole pine tree right in the center of the isle while the waves licked the sand. All of a sudden, the waves turned rogue - splashing higher and higher, scaling closer and closer into the beach, but never swallowing the island.
A moment later, all was calm.
Pink hands grabbed the edges of the island, and all of a sudden - the land both of them were standing on started to move, as if forcibly dragged by something. And then they stopped -
"Hydro Pressure!" a cry resounded from the depths of the ocean as a pillar of water shot out from the ocean's surface. The being continued to lurk in the water; its silhouette was vaguely seen as it dipped in and out of deeper waters.
The pillar of water started to crawl towards the tiny piece of land where they were standing on, slowly gathering momentum and size - as well as speed!
Trial - December 28, 2010 04:51 PM (GMT)
"Holy-" She wobbled on her feet, for a moment losing her balance as the land moved under her. "Kateri?"
"Duck!" The Child Digimon shouted.
"What?" The girl was confused and look around, her eyes searching the beach for some kind of aquatic avian that was causing the beach to move, but all she could see was a pair of pink hands... And the jet of water coming fast at her. She understood and immediately let herself drop to the ground, but even then, she was not fast enough.
Cold, hard water hit her like a nightmare. She fell back a few feet and landed on her back in the sand with a gasp and a groan, her eyes shut tightly.
"Quinn, are you okay?" Kateri asked with concern. The Piyomon and remained completely unharmed due to her faster reaction time. She frowned. I should have took that attack for her, she thought glumly. Humans are fragile creatures and I should have remembered... I'll definitely remember next time, she promised herself.
"Been better." The girl murmured, trying to get up again. "Let's just get this over with." She was completely soaked, and her waterlogged coat wasn't helping to keep her warm so she took it off and spread under the shade of the tree. Wiping the sand off her jeans, she then sat on her coat. All she needed now was a pair of sunglasses and a drink to make this the perfect beach day.
"Right," Kateri muttered and took a few steps closer to the pink arms she faced. She hopped into the air and flapped her wings, creating a spiraling green flame blasted toward her opponent. "Magical Fire!"
Redtide - December 31, 2010 02:08 AM (GMT)
Strangely, the creature showed no sign of being hit. Of course, the reason behind it was largely obvious - with the bird's attack being fiery in nature, it was only natural that the flames would disappear upon coming into contact with the water. The creature would continue to circle the ocean's depths, until it finally let out a pained cry.
Ah, the flames were magical and therefore could penetrate water. Still, it was a rather erroneous movement it had did - it tried to surface while the flames were still active. How silly of it.
"Hydro Pressure," its voice boomed from the water, and yet another jet of water formed and found itself moving straight towards the bird and human.
Trial - December 31, 2010 04:04 AM (GMT)
The Piyomon opened her wings and lifted herself off the ground easily, just barely dodging the attack. She let out a soft breath. That was a close one-
A scream behind her stopped her train of thoughts. Kateri turned around to face her tamer, who was all but knocked out from the attack. The bird Digimon mentally cursed herself for making the same mistake twice within two minutes, leaving Quinn vulnerable again. "Third time's the charm," she comforted herself. "I'll definitely get the protection thing down the next time."
"The next time?" The girl choking on the water. "Please tell me you're kidding," she muttered faintly, then resumed coughing.
"Of course I am." Kateri laughed humorlessly. "And Quinn, if you can use cards, we might be able to go home earlier."
Ha. And she wants me to use a card. She thought scornfully as she gasped for breaths. Dragging herself behind the tree, she slumped down again and digged through her pocket as she coughed the last few drops of water out of her lung. "Fine," she said grumpily as she looked at the cards.
"Magical Fire!" Kateri shouted again, flapping her wings for another blast of green spiraling flames at her opponent.
Redtide - December 31, 2010 04:39 AM (GMT)
This time, it did not get hit by the flames. Clearly, it had realized that the greenish blast of flames searing through the water was not something edible; in fact, it hurt upon contact. The crustacean swan closer to the surface, its blue and teal-colored shell surfacing occasionally.
It was a Shellmon.
"Hydro Pressure!" it called. A jet of water formed from the tip of its shell, this time forming a direct beam towards Kateri and only Kateri. It did not make an attempt to attack the human; after all, it was a hologram programmed to fight Digimon.
Trial - December 31, 2010 05:01 AM (GMT)
"Card Slash!" The girl shouted. "Elemental Enhancement! Isolate!" She slid the two cards consecutively through her D-Ban, which then glowed as it read the data.
Name: Elemental Enhancement
Number: C08
Type: Single Target
Duration: Remainder of the battle
Effect: Adds fifteen points of damage to any attacks associated with one of the ten elements (Fire, Light, Wind, Thunder, Ice, Darkness, Earth, Water, Wood, Metal).
Name: Isolate
Number: C48
Type: State
Duration: 1 Turn
Effect: Prevents all Virus-type Digimon from attacking for one round.
Kateri expected a block or dodge card of some kind and was a little surprised that she didn't get what she wanted. The bird Digimon frowned and tried to get out of the way for the attack, but it was too late. Hydro Pressure landed on target and she was drenched in water. She landed on the ground and stood up, shaking as much water away as she could before taking into the air again.
Then she realized what card her tamer had used and groaned. "Quinn! You totally just wasted a card! Shellmon's a Data type, not a Virus type!"
"Well! How was I supposed to know that!?" The girl shot back in annoyance.
"Use the damn Digimon Analyzer on your D-Ban!" The Piyomon growled and cursed. Just how hard could this be? This was battling, the basics, and the girl was screw it up ridiculously. "Piyorin Attack!" Kateri shouted, covering herself in flames and diving at Shellmon, channeling her frustration at her opponent. It was the least she could do now...
"Right." She mumbled and looked up Shellmon on her Digivice. A miniature hologram popped up on her D-Ban along with a listing of their opponent's attacks and other information.

The easiest thing to do, in all seriousness, was to dive back under the water. And so it did, dipping into the water and disappearing into it. The bird would be left flying downwards and probably floundering about, perhaps flailing as she tried to balance herself - but Shellmon, quick as ever, started spiralling in the process of escaping the water.
"Tai Atari," it pronounced, attempting to ram into the bird Digimon with its huge torso, shell included, of course.

"Aii..." The Piyomon glared at the surface of the water as she hit the breaks just before she touches the water. The fire around her dissipated as she tried to figure out where exactly Shellmon had hid.
"Don't worry, I've got this!" Quinn shouted cheerfully from the sidelines. "Card-"
Whatever the girl had in mind, she never had the time to put it in action in time. Shellmon rammed into Kateri, throwing the tiny bird into the air in a perfect parabola until she slammed into the sandy beach.
"Kateri!" Quinn's eyes widened. "Are you... okay?"
"Been better." The Piyomon murmured as she struggled to get up. "So, what were you planning?"
"Ever wondered what a Shellmon looked like without its shell?" Quinn grinned, picking out another card and slashing it through her digivice.
Name: Iron Drill
Number: C55
Type: Weapon
Duration: 3 turns
Effect: The user's Digimon receives iron drills, much like those of a Digmon, on its hands. The drills allow the Digimon to drill through any physical objects except those created by the effects of other cards (Golden Shield, for example).
"Ew," Kateri stuck out her tongue with a scowl. "Don't make me think that again." Iron drills formed on the Piyomon's hands as she charges toward the Shellmon, drill pointing directly at the sea animal's soft pink flesh.
Redtide - January 3, 2011 01:50 PM (GMT)
It started to whine and moan as the drills pierced the soft and slimy skin it owned, and it writhed and somehow managed to flop out of the ocean and land on the small patch of land that the tamer was standing on. It laid there for some time, the drills steadily creaking and working their way deeper into the shellmon's flesh.
"Tai Atari," it managed to moan, a pudgy hand raising itself to drag itself forwards. Shellmon seemed to be moving in slow motion until it finally managed to roll over in an attempt to squish the bird that was currently drilling into its flesh.
Ooh, the pain certainly hurt.
Trial - January 10, 2011 07:35 PM (GMT)
The Piyomon flinched as she watched the Shellmon's giant body hovering above her and was about to squish her. Even though her opponent moved rather slowly, she hesitated for too long to make a decision until all of a sudden, she realized she really didn't have a choice. There was no time to move out now.
Kateri pulled out the drill from the flesh she was digging into and pointed it upward to the direction Shellmon was trying to squish her from. If Shellmon tries to squish her with his pink body, then the Sea Animal was up for a nasty surprise. If he tries to crush her with his shell... We'll see who's got the harder drill, she frowned. If I get squished, then so be it.
"Oh no," Quinn mumbled from the sidelines. She winced as the pink bird disappeared under Shellmon and then glanced around helplessly. What do I do, what do I do now... She remembered the cards. Right, cards, cards... The girl took a deep breath and fumbled through the deck trying to find something that could get her partner out of this awful situation.
Redtide - January 11, 2011 11:39 AM (GMT)
It plunged on and onto the drills Kateri was pointing at it; the shellmon never stood a chance against the enhanced drills she was using. Core pierced and destroyed, it let out a final yell of pain before dispersing into data.
What an end.

Trial - January 11, 2011 07:13 PM (GMT)
"Wha..." Quinn stared at the spot where the Shellmon once was. The lights flickered as the beach and ocean disappeared, leaving the two in this dull room. All she could hear was the whirring of the machine, and even that faded away in a few seconds. "It's over?"
"Yeah," Kateri nodded. The drill on her hand blinked into nonexistence as she started toward the exit.
The girl wasn't even sure whether they won or lost, though she was guessing it was the former judging from the Piyomon's decent mood and Shellmon's final scream. Just what exactly did Kateri do back there? She wondered but was hesitant to ask. Well, whatever it was, she was glad it was over and Kateri wasn't hurt too badly. Quinn picked up her jacket and hurried behind her digimon out the door.
