Title: too quiet
Celticwrath - October 25, 2010 09:54 PM (GMT)
you know that feeling? That one where your bored and with nothing to do? well its how ive been feeling the last couple of weeks. I know weve all got colledge and school and life seems hard on us all right now, but I'd like to do what i can to get things moving again. I dont want to sound selfish by saying these things, im sure there are others, but what we need to get is fired up and get the happy feeling back to digital dreams.
To all mods, I'll do whatever i can to get the site rolling again, just tell me what to do. I really want to see everyones spirits lightend, if i have to dress up like a drag queen and dance the can can i will (XD;) im wiling to do whatever it takes to get things going again.
Whos with me!
P.s. this reallly isn't meant to be selfish just to hopeful stir some action and exclaim my wilingness to help out the site :P youve got yourself a volunteer to do what you need mods

Been awhile since we had a plot event. But those don't cure everything.
Edit: May do some Destiny'ing and stir up something on my own :D
Double Edit: For an actual response, Ryuha's response is more or less completely correct.
Zander Steele - October 26, 2010 12:09 AM (GMT)
We have a Plot event going on at the moment, it's just a little delayed. Most of the attention taken away from te site has been put towards school, work, and other RL things that have already been mentioned countless times.
Activity comes and goes, but the site never dies. I'm sure with a little push it will get back rolling again.

Mmph. It might pick up for me in December; School semester is over then for a month. >< College is kicking my can.
Also, dress up as Frank N. Furter.
Aqua-Chan - October 26, 2010 05:52 PM (GMT)
Unfortunately for me, work never slows down XD But the motivation department is lagging. Hopefully the Plot Event will stir up some much needed motivation for me. ^^;

:D I've always been wondering when that will happen. Trying to apply for college has been a real pain lately but once January comes, I'll be able to slack off and post more. -coughSenoritiscough- I'm with ya, pal.
Redtide - October 26, 2010 09:52 PM (GMT)
time to make it official;
won't be too active come end of this year and might or might not be around January - March.
Gaijin - October 26, 2010 10:32 PM (GMT)
*sigh* I guess things have slowed down. It happened so fast, yet things still don't want to die here. I'm just saying that when a break roles around, I'll get to posting. As of late, things just keep getting busier.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1A_uSEjTIQI'm on my annual few-month-long break from DD at the moment, yet still check in regularly, and do feel it's hit a slow spot - but
far from the worst one in its five-year history. At this time of year - with stress on either side in the form of school and the holiday season - it's only natural. If, like I did before my break, you're feeling frustrated with DD, I must remind you that a break from the site will only help you appreciate it more once you come back, so maybe as many of us as we want should take an oppurtunity for time out.
Having said that, I'd like to point out to any staff members who may be listening: since signing up, Sean/Rohan/Celtic has shown a certain admirable passion for Digital Dreams, and his current concern for it is the peak of that passion. I know my opinion carries no real "weight," especially not now I'm pretty much inactive, but please let me take this oppurtunity to nominate Celtic for an internship - especially since Mina went inactive (for easily understandable reasons) before she could really put her own internship to use. I hesitate to use the word "replacement," but now does seem like a good time to add to the staff body.

Maybe it's like this on most forums. Mine has also hit a slump. To try to get over that, I eliminated a lot of restrictions I had. Face it. If somebody is in a thread with another person that isn't very active, they're basically SOL. They have to just wait however long it takes before the thread is complete. And that leads to them not being able to post. This could be the case with many different people, or not, as I don't know the situation at hand with everyone. But yes, it does seem like more than this site is experiencing this.
Fenrir - October 27, 2010 02:25 AM (GMT)
Times like these can be frustrating, but it's happened before on DD. Things will perk up again sometime and it will be a lot better, but nothing to worry about, like Schmeg said, it's been worse.
AoRyuha - October 27, 2010 03:11 AM (GMT)
Yep, as the vets will tell you (and have been), this is entirely normal. Just part of the board's life-cycle. It's happened before (to a far greater degree in fact), and it'll happen again.
It's also partly seasonal. Spring is our boom time, when the most members who are active for long periods of time join (or return after leaving for a while). Summer is a long drawn-out time when things happen slow and people are lazy. Fall seems to be able to go either way, and has some years given us a second, smaller boom, but has other times started the winter slump early. Winter is when things are the slowest and the fewest new members join. Then we start again ^^
So yeah, don't stress out about it, it'll be just fine ^^

im not trying to stir anything bad guys XD; just wanted to try and stir thigns up is all XD;;;;; but i know things will get better. Just trying to see some life in the site is all

I noticed a few mentioning’s of inactivity and the like. I thought I would make a suggestion. I hope this thread is fine for it.
Anywho my suggestion is changing out the Cbox with a Chatango box. I feel it leads to more people camping on the board and talking to one another which then leads to more members because they see the friendly activity in the chat. With the Chatango you can see who's online and you can add people to your friends and the like so you can see how long ago they where on. That way you know if you just missed someone or something like that.
Overall I think it would be helpful both for keeping the site active and for attracting new members.
Otterly Lost - December 22, 2010 12:00 AM (GMT)
Well, I manage the c-box and it was actually through me that we got our c-box in the first place. XD; And I chose a c-box because chatango annoys me. It makes noise everytime some sends a message and then to add to it, it turns itself back on everytime you swap pages. I agree, it does have more, nicer features but I think I could get the same ones if I coughed up 30 or so dollars for a premium c-box. Your suggestion is one to keep in mind, though. ^^ I certainly will
Maxxxxxy - December 22, 2010 01:58 AM (GMT)
As a rebuttal to your reasons-
The sound can be put on silent and the box will remember your preferences and It does refresh when you swap pages but in idea so does the current one it just doesn’t take as long.
Either way thanks for considering it.
Redtide - December 22, 2010 02:10 AM (GMT)
rebuttal to the rebuttal
red doesn't like those sounds and how you get logged in for each tab you're on. it's like coming on and seeing 51661326 people logged into the cbox and you click it, thinking there's that many people on and there really isn't, it's just someone logged into that freakin' many tabs for god knows what reason.
... besides, get some exercise and click that refresh button click click click it
Otterly Lost - December 22, 2010 02:41 AM (GMT)
That's true. *nod nod* Like I said, I could probably pay for a premium c-box and get the same features. ^^
Maxxxxxy - December 22, 2010 03:06 AM (GMT)
I know of a site with premium, it dosnt have the SAME features. But it would be more what you guys are looking for. Though I do prefer chatango still. But I see you guys are against it ='( oh well.

Maxxxxxy - December 22, 2010 06:01 AM (GMT)
I would just link the site but I don't want to seem like I'm trying to advertise.
Some key points-
More smilies, two aditional sets. One of cat faces and the other of pandas doing various things.
No noise which seems to be what you guys like, but it still streams so you dont need to refresh.
It gives a count of people in the box, no repeats and only gives there name if they have left a message recently.
There are probably other features, but I'm sure I dont know them all. Those above seemed like things that you guys would enjoy though.
Redtide - December 22, 2010 08:21 AM (GMT)
link me, i'm interested ... so. pm me if you don't want it on the board itself, i could check it out or something :D
